Not all leaf yellowing is a sign that the plant has something going wrong. The lower canopy will eventually turn yellow as the plant no longer needs the younger, smaller leaves and absorbs their nutrients. For example, right now one of the first, small, young leaves has turned yellow on my plant, I'll remove it once it completely withers and can easily be removed.
Thank you for your advise I purchase this monstera a week ago it had some black spots and now parts are turning black, I haven’t watering yet just water sprayed when got home.
This i can attest for sure, banana water is harmful to my plants. I'm growing soursop and after i added the water, 2 weeks later, the leaves started to brown and fall of. Growing soursop takes a lot of time and patience. Never using the water again.
Sooo, I just moved my croton from North-Eastern window, to South Eastern window where it gets more full sun for better part of the day. I don't have high humidity available in the house, but I mist it with few drops of peppermint essential oil mixed in lot of water. I've heard that will prevent spider mites from making home in it. So far it looks like croton is liking the change and the treats and showing lot more red and yellows in the leaves. Almost all leaves are showing yellow and red streaks in the veins and lower leaves are almost totally red. I have put a grow lite in the pot too. Looks like I am getting obsessed with it😊
I was looking through a bunch of videos to get this information and not really getting the information. Thank you for going through it in a complete manner!
True, However... If you grind egg shells down to a powder, and mix into the soil 3-4 months before planting, that will be enough time for the powder to break down.
You mention adding the perlite, pumice, or sand if the leaves are curling. So do you mix that all into potting soil or layer those elements a certain way-- how do you suggest the mixing for a healthy soil?
i'll give this a try ,and also here in the uk a kg of chickpea are cheap in the supermarkets. i my try weighting them down for a few days like you do with other seeds ,it may stop them popping out as roots go in deeper. Many thanks .
It is a solution that is made out of seaweed. It is readily available in any plant store or you can order one online. Dilute the same as per the instructions on the bottle and administer.
Soooo..., do Crotons respond well to Indian classical music !! How about if you talk to them morning and evening!!! I bought a, ooo... about 16" Croton from Home Depot. Gave it a ride home in my Jeep. And now it is sitting in my North-Eastern window in Living Room, where it gets morning sun for about 4 hours, then it's just indirect good Northern light rest of the day. So far, it looks happy. I noticed its blushing a bit too. Is that good? I always loved Crotons. They are beautiful creatures.
Good information.. but there are so many videos say it is helpful.. I do not disagree with you, I would like to know if you have experience the same or experimented the same. Also, do you say the above based on your educational background? I have been doing all the things as you mentioned not to do and I see a lot of fungus and bacterial diseases on my plants.. doo you have any suggestions on how to get rid of the diseases or make plant robust to fight against them? What are your thoughts of using rice water/butter milk/hydrogen peroxide/baking soda? I would love to get your thoughts about the same.. thank you
Hi there, This video is purely based on my personal experience. Just like your plants, my plants also developed fungus gnats and other diseases. That is when I did some research on banana peel solution. I tried a lot of remedial measures such as hydrogen peroxide, baking soda. But the best one was Diatomaceous Earth. It really helped me to get rid of all the gnats.
One can actually over water with bottom watering. It is a function of the amount of avaiable amount of water and the amount of time the plant sits in the water.
Any forms of fertilizer (chemical or organic) will produce acidity while being decomposed by bacteria. That's why you need to add calcium or baking soda into your soil; especially, when yoi add fertiizer in order to balance out the PH of the soil. Even when you put too much in-orgsnic fertilizzer will result with fungus nats, which is the sign that your soil is too acidic.
How about using banana tea for outdoor plants in he garden.. Gnats should not become problem since they would be confined outdoors. I use all my fruit & veggie peelings in my trench composting in the garden to enrich the soil prior to plan my garden. I, in fact, include all my weeds in the trench composting since once they are buried, everything dies due to lack of sunlight to produce photosynthesis.
I just dug trenches in my garden last week around my pumpkins. I poured blended Bananas in the bottom, layered with whole banana peel, added powdered egg shells, topped with bunny poo and hay, covered with dirt. Do I leave it or disrupt the roots again and get it out?
