PROMPT (Prompts for Restructuring Oral Muscular Phonetic Targets) is an evidence-based therapy technique that has proven to be highly effective in the treatment of speech sound disorders and motor-based communication challenges. This channel will show examples of clinicians using the treatment approach, research updates, videos for parents and games and activities for SLPs.
Hello, because PROMPT uses touch to help the articulators move for speech production the child can feel how they need to move to produce functional words and phrases. To put it simply, it is like using hand over hand to learn to write, but is for speech. The clinician also uses auditory information (directions/models) to help support how the child learns to improve their ability to communicate.
Are you a good person? Let’s check and see! Have you ever stolen? (Even if it’s something really small or not worth much) Have you ever lied? Or have you ever looked with lust ? Now, have you ever taken the Lords Name in vain? Have you ever hated someone? If you’ve ever done any of those things, you would be either a liar, a thief, an adulterer,(for looking with lust. See Matthew 5:28), a blasphemer(for taking Gods Name in vain), a murderer (for hating someone. See 1 John 3:15) or maybe even all of them. And that was only 5 of the Ten Commandments. Therefore Gods Standard Is Very High. The Bible Even Says That If We’ve Just Broken One Law We’re Guilty Of Breaking Them All. (James 2:10) So we have all sinned against God and therefore deserve death.(Romans 3:23 & 6:23)That’s why ~2000 years ago A Savior was sent; Jesus Christ, to die for the sins of The World And Then He rose 3 days later. Through His sacrifice He Paid The Fine for our sins, and made Atonement for the sins of the world. Now we can be made new by accepting The Gift of Salvation. In order to accept This Gift, we must first Repent. This is a change of mind about sin (from an embrace of sin to rejection of sin) and a Turning to God. Once you Repent, you can then turn to FAITH/TRUST in the Savior. A person who has truly Repented of their sin and has Trust in Christ will give evidence of a changed life. Therefore, as a Result of Salvation you’ll then produce Good Works and the Fruit of Salvation. (Reading the Word, Acts of Kindness, readiness to help, to serve, to give of oneself, The Fruits of the Spirit, etc.) You aren’t saved by doing Good Works, but you can then produce Good Works once you are Saved
Hello! Thanks for your kind words. You ask a great question. My first thought is for you to see what his tongue looks like when moving to produce /t, d, n/ these also require the front part of the tongue to contract but are easier to produce from a motor perspective than /l/. So, he may need help with these easier sounds/movements before he is ready to work on /l/. Other questions to think about is where is he starting speech? Is his mouth open? Is his his tongue between his teeth? When we speak we want to start and end with our lips and teeth together softly. This is because where we start speaking affects what we have access to moving. When your jaw is up like this (neutral resting posture is the fancy word for the position), you are able to access your lips easier for closure as well as use the front part of your tongue. Hope this helps! If he is working consistently with an SLP, they may have other ideas to help you help your son. All the best! He is lucky to have you. Amy Clark, PROMPT Instructor
Amazing! I hope this idea of the month thing continues. I really need help with making PROMPT fun and engaging for my sweet students, all of whom have special needs… many of them with chromosomal abnormalities.
Hola quería saber dónde te encontrás y si podes hacer consultas vía remota? Quiero decir mediante videollamada, o call tipo tipo teams, zoom o similar?
Ahorita no estamos haciendo cursos presenciales. Pero tenemos cursos del introductorio que hacemos a traves de zoom y hay varios opciones en Español. Puede ver todo las fechas dispnibles en el enlace siguiente: promptinstitute.com/events/event_list.asp
thank you for showing a kid who isn't perfect. It has been discouraging for me because I have a 2.5 year old who does not cooperate during therapy. Especially when his SLP has to touch his face.
