Yes, I had one too! I went from South Carolina to Roswell N. M ,all around N.M came back to Longview Texas, then to back to South Carolina, then Moved to New Ibera Louisiana, all around Louisiana, then back to South Carolina. Put many miles on it.
This is the XJR6. X300 model with the original 6 cylinders jag was known for. Identifiable by the square bumper indicators. The V8 X308 had ovular ones. I’ve heard though that the V8s were quite fantastic. Built by Jaguar themselves and everything else was ford. Definitely a British money muncher though
This car is in excellent shape for a 33 year old car. Interior looks almost perfect and it seems to run great. These cars were built to be practical affordable family cars and Chrysler sold hundreds of thousands (if not millions) of them. I would be happy to own this one and use it as my daily driver.
because its a bad idea... honestly though, updated suspension is what we want and rwd. could we do that with Subaru? yes but you gota understand the subi tax around here is real. and we got the Miata for cheap.
Because this Subaru was only front wheel drive. And it was on a weird platform comparatively to everything else that’s out there. So now that it’s in the Miata family, we can get parts for a lot cheaper.
@@jwilliams703 learning something new all the time. I would love to drop a modern 2.5 Subaru drive train under a 1971 Ford Maverick. We had a few Mavericks back in the day. I love those cars
In my younger days I used to buy and sell cars, my problem was I always wanted to keep them lol the last flip car I bought I kept lol 2006 Dodge Charger RT for $900.. a new engine wire harness a new PCM and a Diablo tune and I've kept that thing for over 5 years, but now it needs a new engine wire harness😢
That engine is an absolute unit, they are very powerful and reliable but they are known for noisy valves. We have one that sounded like that. All it needed was a valve adjustment and it was back to purring.
i got an rl from a buy here pay here in illinois when i was 15 for 1400. turtle green. Got 10mpg on premium but it started everytime. looking back it was definitely something simple, but hindsght is 20/20
Those TL’s be going for 12k in big cities because, it once was a dope boy’s choice now, the car dealership just don’t know people done moved on to brand new cars now, got yourself a deal fix up and sale it for a few thousand.
Or just spend $300 on maintenance, drive it for 200k more miles then sell it for $1500. There will always be a market for a $1500 car that runs. Spending more than $5k on a car is just plain stupid. You can buy an 8 year old Acura like that with 60k miles on it and drive it until you die. It's just crazy. I just bought a 2005 Lexus. 150k miles, which is just fine, for $2k. It needs tires and for me to continue to ignore the lights, because it runs perfectly and everything works.
Used Lexus and Acuras are quite the deals for sure. I think realistically I could sell this one for closer to $5000 once I sort a couple of things. So far I've put in about $200 for a timing belt and a couple of other knickknacks like lightbulbs, etc. It needs a wheel bearing, but if I can buy the entire hub/knuckle, that will be maybe another $300 or so I believe.
@@BadIdeasGarage exactly, your on the right track, keeping going and I’m going to keep watching 🙌🏾 oh and I looks up some wheel hub assemblies for you, you can actually get them for pretty cheap if you’re in a rush like I am most of the time just grab it from auto zone but if you a few days patience just type in wheel hub assembly for your TL and get it shipped to you, it’s crazy how cheap they are. But good luck if you keep posting I’ll keep watching.
@@philbert006 your correct, but if you really want to get more miles on that car $300 isn’t going to cut it I mean unless you have unlimited time to sort through the internet for free parts, but from his recent response he plans on selling it.
Broke the same as mine 180 on rear cam and bearly off on front cam belt still has tension. Im going to replae the set the marks and replace the belt. Wish me luck
I own a Lexus and a Bentley. I got an old Jaguar XJ8. I'm the second owner had it 4 years. 20 years old when I bought it. Only done 46k, it is a brill car. Always a pleasure to drive it. I love the car. No issues with reliability.
@@dragonballsee honestly, though it pains me to say this, but you’re right. This manual transmission was pretty difficult to “launch” and the dsg honestly is pretty dang good. I just love manuals though.
@@BadIdeasGarage its not difficult its just ya friend doesnt know know how to bring the rpms higher and instead of dropping the clutch bring it to about 75% bite very quickly and then drop it the rest of way
