OK, just to give a realistic perspective of how these plants operate today, the notion of a Shift Manager (Godell) "dumping pressure" to get the RCS down to the LPCI setpoint is absurd...and so is the fact that HPCI was "valved out for maintenance." This is just drama induced by the movie makers to add some excitement...

Gotta love the Dot matrix printer in this movie. That little gem really added suspense in the scene and towards the ending.

It’s interesting how mechanical faults of this power plant came from two different directions: the stuck water level indicator and the pipes that caused the vibration. The whole movie was based on bad power plant design.

I went to this movie when it came out, then again just after the Three Mile Island accident. The reaction of the audience was wildly different!

When I was younger, I use to think a China Syndrome would mean that the Power Plant would explode like a nuclear boom! What a silly goose I been.

We stay right here, this is a safety area. Like when I hide under my covers and am on my mental pain and suffering. Hence I am in my safety area.

Love this movie! Saw it for the first time 6 months ago mainly because of this clip I believe! Love the new soundtrack that was added in. So damn eerie this came out 12 days before Three Mile Island. Extremely eerie.

Melford was obviously taking more cues from Murnau's Nosferatu.

My favorite version. And it is 29 minutes longer than the Lugosi version.

One of Jack Lemmon's finest performance ever! You can feel the tension and feeling of immanent doom about to happen.

So much wrong with what's going on in here. First of all, there's not really such a thing as too much water in the reactor vessel. It should be maxed out at all times. Second, using only one indicator never happens, there are 3 typically. Third, If the water level was that low, emergency core cooling would have activated automatically and if not, it's just a flick of a switch. Fourth, Communication would be much better. Fifth, High radiation is not normal, that's usually a coolant leak. If so, the reactor is put into an outage and repairs are made. There are more but I'm not going to list everything. This is a good movie but showing this kind of incompetence and just blatant falsehoods about the industry is misleading.
