Hey brother (Kevin Kettler-changed my name to my old police nickname). Crushed it as usual. Fishing has been very grim here. I haven’t gone in weeks. No point. @@sotayakfishing bass and pike
@sotayakfishing
@sotayakfishing 7 дней назад
@@dalafgaming7238 finding the fish is the biggest battle. Once you locate fish, then the rest is a lot easier. When choosing lures, I often consider 1) Water temperature (hot or cold? are the fish aggressive or lethargic?) If fish have the energy to chase, then maybe choose a moving bait. If the fish are moving slow, then maybe choose a slower presentation. 2) Water clarity (stained, muddy, clear etc.). If the fish can’t see very well, then I’d pick something like a chatterbait or plopper which makes a lot of noise. If it’s ultra clear then maybe choose something more subtle like a plastic. 3) Light conditions (sun rise/set, cloudy, sunny) Will the fish be able to see a bait on topwater? Is the sun penetrating the bottom enough to light up a lure that sinks? 5) Color of lure (I’m not a big color guy though) I typically stick with black or white…something to offset the water and light conditions. 6) Lastly I think about size. Bass and pike will hit all types of lure sizes. I don’t think small baits limit you to small fish, but I do think big baits eliminate small fish. I know this is a long answer because it’s a good hard question, but for me that’s what makes fishing so much fun. I hope this helps and good luck - catch some bass and pike!!! 🤙

I purchased the rebel chopper because of price. $9.95, My neighbor purchased the original. $16 Both are almost same size and I can tell the difference just by the sound. The original whopper Plopper definitely makes more noise. I know you can’t compare apples to oranges, however my favorite chatter bait is the $16 jack hammer compared to there same brand, cheaper $7 bait. Color and trailer attachment and hook size is probably the only reason they cost so much. So far, my PB bass is 7.2 on a black rebel chopper. Great video 👍

Loose the swivel and go straight braid or use a heavy mono leader to keep the bait from going under. As far as hook sets go, let the fish take it and let the rod load up and lean back on them to set those trebles. Good luck
@sotayakfishing
@sotayakfishing 15 дней назад
@@lsl1512 💯agree I’d love to use braid or mono leader to get the full benefits of the lure but it’s too easy for pike or musky to break me off, so I’ve gotta stick with the fluorocarbon to save expensive baits and fish. Thanks for watching and commenting - Much appreciated!! 🙏

Been using these for several years. For starters you’re already sitting super low to the water in the kayak if you were able to stand up or have a higher advantage point, you wouldn’t have to hold your tip as high. The hooks are too heavy for the bait, causing it to sit lower in the water, which is not gonna allow it to wake as well as the original hooks. this was specifically designed to be used at an extremely slow pace to put off a loud knock in the water. It’s a great bait. It catches fish. It’s just very much so tedious because you have to reel it so slow on the surface, the way it was designed to be fished… Aldo great for night time
@sotayakfishing
@sotayakfishing 18 дней назад
@@fishingthe4102 thanks for watching! I’m curious, are you fishing in a river or lake or both? Did you find a difference between current and no current? And yeah, I could see this bait being really good at night!
