Very impressive! Would you ever be able to get the colour of the coral back? Has the colour been lost altogether? If so would the solution be underwater flashlights?
Unfortunately, the influencing factor of the lenses is not discussed here. If we put a low-quality lens on a 30 Mp digital camera, then the picture will never be 30 Mp! Only as much as the lens captures!! See: DXomark examples ! The situation is similar with analog! The resolution of the lens, the sensitivity of the film and the size of the film must be taken into account. By increasing the sensitivity (ISO), the grain size of the films increases. The pixel size of digital sensors does not change with increasing ISO. So, the resolution of the film lens is line/mm ! A lens cannot achieve this line/mm value on a 12-25 ISO document film as well as on an ISO 800 film. Take an excellent lens like the legendary SMC TAKUMAR 1.4/50 !!! It performed 80 lines/mm on an Ilford FP4. If we assume this on the full frame of 24x36mm FF film, then each square millimeter can be multiplied by 80. 1920x2880 = 69.120 !!! It means 0.069 Mp! This is a measurable, verifiable reality!
My photographs taken with the Canon 1 EOS RS with a fixed mirror using Fuji Velvia are sharper and already ready compared to those taken with the Canon EOS 1D Mark IV, using the same lens. Additionally, I don’t know why, but with film, my composition always turns out perfect, it seems to capture exactly what I see to the millimeter, whereas with digital, there's always something off, even though it’s supposed to also frame 100% of the scene.
Digital has one great benefit over film which is environmental. This one advantage makes digital better than film because no more toxic chemicals are being dumped down drains. I learned how to develop and print both black and white films at age 15 and am now 73. Yes despite what anyone says those chemicals were and are toxic. I hope never to see the return of film!

One of the most favorite things my clients love when I edit a few pictures at the end of the evening and show them. So that's why I bring my iPad Pro. Thanks for sharing this video it actually made me sit down and think on all the stuff I do bring. But make sure you have insurance on everything
History is a trade off of freedom and indignity. Oh here's rules, why I love rules, who wouldn't die for rules, oh buddy, new obedience, more traffic signals, wait in lines, poop now soldier. So old folks die so more rules can be discovered in safety.
I have a Nikon D700 (2008 tech ;) ) Full frame .. it's a 'whopping' .. 12Mp It has great image quality even today. I Iove the thing. I was also still enjoying film photography up until last year, and looking at the results from my film work (often using the same Nikkor lenses - one of the joys of the Nikon mount) I don't see that my film scans are 'out-resolving' the D700. Definitely not. Again, that is at 12Mp!
this doeesnt work, I dont know what magic you did to get the font to fil, but the same instructions only fills the outline not the inside of the font like yours is.
Way back when the first dslr's were first introduced I recall reading an article on one of the photography mags where they said that once sensors get to around 12mp's then parity will have been reached. When a 14mp Sony dSLR came on the market I dipped. I replaced my Canon AE1 with a Sony Alpha 350. I still use the Sony today.
IMAX, which is the highest quality you can get in film making still uses chemical film today. That says it all. Chemical is superior in almost every sense but the practicality of digital filming is unbeatable.
Posseggo il DS e sono super felice di questa lente! Ho anche il Sigma 105 mm. f. 1,4 ART che è molto nitido e superlativo nella sua resa, ma il Canon 85 mm f. 1,2 DS possiede quella resa nella sfocatura, unica al mondo e che fa si che le altre differenze che tu rilevi siano del tutto ininfluenti. Buona giornata.
It's not fair to compare this to a prime lens for sharpness. Would you rather have several prime lenses in your kit, and the hassel of changing lenses? Or would you rather carry one lens that is good for the whole gamut of ranges from 24-70mm? I guess it's just a matter of priorities. No photographers needs are the same as everybody else. I have exactly 2 prime lenses in my inventory; a 50 mm and an 85mm (both f1.8) and those are pulled out once in a blue moon. I use the 24-70 for everything from stuido work to weddings to shooting bands in bars to taking shots on holiday. The sub f2.8 and below that most prime lenses have is not enough for me to even consider buying for my kit. The sharpness of a prime lense to me (and to my clients) is negligeable. I'm not going to pull out a sharpness sheet and my client is never going to ask for one. To me, the 24-70 is a no brainer.
as someone who worked for years on printing machines, Id say about 6mp of detail there, the rest is wishful thinking :D yea there is good slide etc but good luck finding velvia from the fridge and a place that can process e6 with fresh chemistry
He is right. The EKTAR 100 in an Asahi Pentax with 1.4/50 reaches that, or surpasses it. Ideal light conditions. I measured it. The lens does 120-150 lines /mm on the negative. Measured it also.
Has the newer generations forgotten what Analog is? There is no equivalent pixel count for 35mm film. As digital resolution increases, we just get closer to the digital sample rate that is able to deliver the detail that we can perceive from an Analog film medium. But, at the end of the day, a digital image will always be made up of a finite number of samples of the original purely analog scene.
Am a wildlife photographer and have this lens for 2 years now! This has never let me down in any lighting condition..! Only thing to crib about is the weight 😂
