This channel is mostly dedicated to the fashions of decades past! I’m a total nerd for the 1900s - 1950’s, but I also venture to other decades before and after those like the 1960’s and the Victorian Era. Hope you enjoy my tips, tricks, reactions, sewing projects and more!
Excellent point about the knees being covered in the 1920s, Miranda. It's always annoyed me when I've seen re-creations exposing the knees. A few months ago, I actually found one photo of a group of '20s women in the street, one of whose knees were actually visible. To date, this is the sole example I've ever encountered.
You keep surprising me with your talent: you sing, you sew, you paint! Seeing you paint bob ross style was very calming and your basket looks adorable ☺️
I love how you explain every step during the painting process! Your basket turned out beautiful! My ideal picknick basket would be a natural dark wood color with a pink and white gingham fabric liner and a separate little fabric baggie for all the cutlery. The top would have those strappy things that hold all your plates. Scenery: Apple orchard / big natural looking park with trees or by the lakeside Food: Definitely a whole cake with lots of whipped cream frosting (super impractical, I know it would melt in seconds). Like a strawberry shortcake. Or a naked cake with lots of berries and whipped cream. Grapes and other fruit for aesthetics. Croissants, Danish pastry and little fancy looking breads. Clotted cream and a variety of jams. A giant piece of ham, you know like the cartoon version on ham. A refreshing green and leafy salad and a hearty potato and egg salad. Lemon-cucumber-mint lemonade
Omg, I would SO come to this picnic 😱. And YES to that whipped cream and berry cake! You can see on my Instagram how I brought a whole cake for a picnic. The trick is to assemble it AT the picnic. I made buttercream and brought it in a piping bag. If you did that with your whipped cream and kept it with an ice pack you could probably do it! 🍰. And goodness me, minty lemonade and ham?! Yes please 👏
What a lovely basket! My ideal picnic basket would be a very classic wicker one (Fortnum and Mason-style). It would be quite big and possibly rectangular, with leather straps on the inside of the lid to hold a set of vintage china picnic plates, cutlery and glasses. I would also like for the inside to be lined with pretty floral fabric. As for the food contents, I would also go for a small but full cake, as well as an assortment of tea sandwiches.
Your picnic basket makeover is beautiful. When not used for picnics, this would be a cute storage basket as well. It's been a long time since I've seen Bongo Bear, but this does remind me of it.
I used your tutorial but miniature for a doll! It looks adorable and the advice and instructions given worked just as well for the doll’s size as a real person 😊 Thanks for the tutorial!
I’ve literally watched this video three times less than a week. It’s so good! And it’s inspired me to try this in my life and see how I like it, because I’ve always admired the lifestyle of the past.
Technically kind of… but it would be harder to get a consistent curve for one thing. And it would be divided my how many layers of fabric, so if you folded it 3 times, you’d divide it by 8. And the amount of times you fold it depends on how thick your fabric is so it seemed more complicated to explain it that way. But if you find it easier that way, then yes that should work just fine!
Congratulations sweetheart, you did a great job ! You look so beautiful with your pink coat 🤎 I read the comments and some are very rude, I can't believe it ! Never give up honey, you are a very talented young lady. I bet your parents are very proud of you, God bless you always.
Hello Miranda! Congratulations for your wonderful work! Please, never stop making your videos: they are perfect! I am from Brazil and I just met your channel, I watched only some videos, but I intend to watch even more! I really love the videos where you make your own vintage clothes! I saw your the video where you teached how to make te 1950s circle skirt and I'm making my own skirt now! Congratulations for your wisdom of do not buy new clothes! You're completely right! I also love every thing that is vintage and you are SO talented! I hope you have all the success you deserve! One more time: Congratulations and thank you for your wonderful videos!!! ❤❤❤
Lovely, I'm going to learn it so I can sing it too! So impressed with the song and how sweet your voice sounds. Also, I wonder if you know of the singer Bea Wain. This song would have been perfect for her.
❤ it's excellent to see a girl that is what used to be in America bless your heart because sewing is an art and you definitely got it in the bag thank you and your tutorial was great thank you mean it❤❤❤❤❤❤
I absolutely love Cherry Blossoms! It’s a tie between the pink ones and white ones. Is that a public park? What a great location! Loved this video! Such a perfect example how there is so much beauty in simplicity! That’s what is so special about older songs is that one can understand the beauty of the lyrics with such clarity and perfect annunciation without being drowned out by loud instruments.
