I kept expecting Toto to announce the Four Tops and Boy George come out! I do think he might have been out of his depth with the English and it wasn't his fault the phonelines were so bad but he really didn't help himself. One minute he panicked and the next he knew better than everybody else!
I mean, whose idea was it to get those two to host? They can't present for their lives, and Toto clearly can't speak fluent enough English to get by. But Gigliola's 73 years old, and Toto's 77, so slim chance that they're gonna present again.

I kinda understand Toto. On those days, apart from recording music, he was one of the hosts of a noon show on Rai Uno, where he was in charge of the musical part and games with the audience. It's not the same to host a noon show for a local audience than an international song contest for a larger audience than the one from his own country.

Apparently the Serbia/Montenegro contest had four different voting juries each... see where this is going?? No wonder they all started booing. I also read the point winners got booed off the stage (a bit unfair since they can't help the stupid voting system they had) and the runner-up was called to perform on stage. Since Serbia/Montenegro couldn't agree on a winner they ended up sending nobody to Athens.
There were 8 jurors and a televote, all awarding sets of points. All 4 Montenegrin jurors gave 12 points to the favourite Montenegrin act, and all 0 points to favourite Serbian acts, Serb jurors gave all 12's to Serbian acts, and small amount of points to Montenegrin acts, while the tele gave 12 to the Serbian act. The fact that Serbian jurors gave points to the Montenegrin acts resulted in a Montenegrin act winning. The winners were booed off the stage, only for the televote winner to appear (the fav Serbian act) and perform once again. Due to the scandal, S&M withdrew. An almost identical situation happened in 2004 and 2005
To me this was the moment that Serbia and Montenegro broke up as a country A few weeks later Montenegro gained independence from Serbia When I've heard of the scandal I've lost respect of Montenegro But I've forgave them We should move on and get over it
I feel so bad for them tbh it's like watching two kids trying to put on a presentation in a language neither of them feel comfortable speaking But also on the other hand it's funny as fuck watching Toto mess up the votes solely because he wasn't listening to the caller ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
