Many argue that religion is a force for good within the context of globalization where many may discuss imperialism and terrorism. While I respect global indigenous cultures that always have their own creativity and biases: religion is a form of cultural bias in global societies. Religion is neither philosophy nor science and so it cannot answer the questions of Global Ethics. Global Ethics is a field of inquiry studied by social and natural scientists, but also philosophers where they theorize and hypothesize how they might be able to effectively manage globalization. Religious frameworks cannot do that because it is unclear as to where religious ethics would get their resources for resolving disagreements with other religions. Religious frameworks like the Abrahamic one's set goals in an existence beyond the material world, and while some Christians are pacifists: there is the topic of just war theory; where just war theory is a rationalization for starting war. Just war theory has a long history with Christianity and the Middle Ages, but in general I think that war is not ethical for people that think that others might have different intentions for their actions. I have also learned that globalization increases climate sensitivity by affecting global climate change through non-environmentalist organizations and government actions and leaders... we need to employ reason and science in ethical behavior and practice. This video promotes general educational content and is ethical. I am just offering my opinion and thoughts on the topic. Hutchings, K. (2018). Global ethics : an introduction. Polity Press.
Falmouth Uni (?) was actually Bath; Sheffield was actually Loughborough; and Exeter was actually Guildford. Glasgow's knowledge of English university locales was woeful.
Whenever a man contestant is good-looking, well-spoken, well-groomed, there's always comments describing him as conceited and pompous. Says far more about the naggers than the one they find fault with. And dare to wear something like the St Andrew's gowns and mockery is assured.
Globalization as I have understood from the video lecture is the advancements and developments like technologies, agricultural crops, and etc. that served as a medium for continents to be closer and build social relations.
Before I watched this video lecture sir I thought that Globalization is a simple term for connection around the world but after watching this I found out that Globalization is broad.
BSN-1A THE CONTEMPORARY WORLD Globalization is a very complex topic that needs a deeper understanding but through this video lecture I was able to understand what is globalization. Globalization as defined by Mr. Manfred Steger it refers to the expansion and intensification of social relations and consciousness across world-time and world-space. We have shrinking of ideas and shrinking of social relations simply because of the introduction and intensification of several technologies that made it possible for distances across the world to be minimize. Globalization changes in every year that passes and until this time globalization still continue to change. Globalization is divided or categories into three periods by several historian according to its origin. These categories are archaic globalization, proto- globalization, and modern globalization. Archaic globalization is the earliest form of globalization that dates back during the ancient time and pre-colonial times. It globalizing events and developments from the time of the earliest civilization and until roughly the 1600s. Proto- globalization before the advent of modern globalization between the late period of 1600s to 1800s. It initiated the so-called "Columbian exchange" the enormous widespread exchange of plants, animals, foods, human population (including slaves), communicable diseases, and culture between the Eastern and Western hemispheres. Modern globalization referring to the time period between 1800s up to the present. Modern globalization can be attributed to the 3 activities or changes in politics that took place or happen during the last half of the 20th century. These activities are the emergence of the United States as global power (Post-World War ll), emergence of multinational corporations (MNCs), and fall of Soviet Union and the end of Cold War. Slowbalisation refer to the phenomena which involves a slowing down of the pace of global integration. Global integration through trade, exchange of information, ideas and lifestyle. We experienced the slowing down of the growth of the economy simply because of several factors. The 5 contributory factors to slowbalisation are improved or technological advancements, changing consumer preferences, higher tariffs, environmental concerns, and carbon taxes. Deglobalization is the process of diminishing interdependence and integration between certain units around the world, typically nation-state. It is also used widely used to describes the periods of history when economic trade and investment between countries decline. There are also contributory factors to deglobalization these are continuously low employment in the whole economy, income divide problem/ income inequality, uncertain risk such as the coronavirus pandemic since 2020, trade tensions between countries, and the rise of populism.
The Contemporary World From the recorded discussion I have learned and realized a lot of things about globalization. It is the expansion and intensification of social relations and consciousness across world time and space. Globalization has also upgraded from time to time from the year 1942 up to the present. The historical origins are being subdivided by several historians into three periods which are as follows archaic (new world), proto, and modern globalization. In the archaic period, the Arabs transformed agriculture during Golden Age of Islam by spreading major crops and techniques across the old world. In addition, there are 3 principles that composes the archaic period which are universalizing kingship, expansion of religious movements, and medicinal understanding. In proto- globalization, in this period the trade links and cultural exchange increased. Also, the period wherein the rise of maritime European empires. It also initiated the so-called Columbian Exchange. The third is the modern globalization where industrialization allowed cheap production of household items using economies of scale. Slowbalisation is the slowing down of the pace of global integration. This has 5 contributory factors which are improved or technological advancements, changing consumer preferences, higher tariffs, environmental concerns, and carbon taxes. Deglobalization is where the economic trade and investment between countries decline. There are also contributory factors which are the continuously low unemployment in the world economy, income divide problem, uncertain risks like the pandemic, trade tension between countries, and the rise of populism.
