Welcome to Big Grime's channel! Based in Colonial Heights, Virginia, Big Grime is a self-taught producer and multi-instrumentalist who discovered his passion for creating music at the age of 16. Back then, he experimented with mixing and sampling sounds using a consumer dual cassette tape player with a hole mic input. Since then, his love for music has only grown stronger.

Big Grime's music is a fusion of various genres, from Hip Hop, RnB, Techno to Latin and Jazz. He draws inspiration from all of them, infusing each of his beats with rich and detailed instrumental sounds. Whether it's an up-tempo track or a melancholy beat, Big Grime's music has a unique style that sets him apart from the rest.

bro... shaky camera and pretty bad sounds out of the DFAM....and u dont even really say the sq64 is useful whatsoever compared to DFAM internal sequencer....
@biggrime
@biggrime 7 дней назад
@d3maccus if you don't like the camera quality or the sound. I suggest not watching the video. As far as why the korg 64 sequencer is better than dfam sequencer. My bad, I should have known some people needs to be told that 64 steps is better than 8
@d3maccus
@d3maccus 7 дней назад
@@biggrime I didn't criticize quality or type of camera, but the shaky camera is just total noob bro come on you have thousands of subs....and that kinda stuff is going to make people stop watching your stuff... its also really not enjoyable, and gives the viewer vertigo...and i think you know that... Im sorry about the harsh sounds comment, as the DFAM is rugged in general. I understand the 64 has more steps, but from what you're playing.... with that instrument, it doesn't seem necessary or like it really sounds different. so im a bit confused when you say its amazing and "you're just barely scratching the surface". Its good to be positive and enthusiastic, but it felt a little false engagement-batey. Im sorry for the attitude I was exhausted and deep diving into 64 for a while and was excited to find a video of it paired with some MOOG I own and I am met with EXTREMELY low effort production is all! Lastly, Im sure you are a nice person and talented musician and I love your synth passion so rock on and Ill check out some more of your stuff. (im not saying that you care or want me to though ahha)

the good thing of the mouse is , its very cheap to buy a new one when it broke. but the sliders and buttons on your vs are not easy to fix or find replacement for them, and of course its expensive to repair . i use always my mouse on my MV 8000 .

You have a point. That is like telling a driver of a Toyota Supra with big turbo. Drive in a way that the turbos won't spool up. It's cheaper not to use them.

Hi. I'm on day three of trying to work my new VS-2480 and i'm having trouble with the routing. Can you please describe to me how to route up my guitar? I have plugged the guitar into the Hi-Z input on channel 16 and want to record in stereo on tracks 1 & 2. I can see the signal of the sound going into the machine but no sound is being recorded and I hear nothing through my headphones. If you could get back to me it would be a great help, cheers.

I bought a VS-2480CD brand new in 2005 and kept it until 2016, when I reluctantly had to sell it due to financial issues. I loved it with the add-on VGA monitor, and the ability to master directly to audio CD inside the unit was cool. As I recall, one of the downsides was only having 2 onboard FX cards, so you had to be choosy about what to do with them.

great vid. I still use old digital multitrack reocrders for the same reason...couldn't afford em when they dropped, but now machines like the roland VS series, Yamaha 4416, akai dps and korg d3200 can be found for $100 - $200. Reliable, great sound and more focused than the endless options in a DAW. Glad u got your hands on one.

How or what are the connections that are used to hook to the computer?
@biggrime
@biggrime 4 месяца назад
Presonus makes a interface called V-fire that you can use to connect to computer. In my setup I do not hook it up to a computer. I use the VS-2480 as the "computer" For me the whole point of using the VS-2480 is to get away from the computer. The monitor is connected to the vs-2480 and displays what's on the VS2480

I bought mine when it came out. I used it as a 16 track recorder for full live band recordings. I ran a 16 channel snake to my garage and this unit was parked in an upstairs bedroom. Just the drum kit had 8 mics and the other 8 were for instrument mics. I also bought the breakout box that allows you to export your tracks to a DAW. Unfortunately they didn't upgrade the firmware to be able to use the 2480 as a live interface for a DAW. That would've been a huge game changer. I still have it but my needs have changed to where I get more out of a 2x2 interface and VSTi for Superior Drummer, Amplitube 5 for guitars/bass. The beauty of computer recording is that you can hear the track wet but record it dry. That allows unlimited tweaking on your effects without having to record over. Recording wet is set in stone. If I was going to live track bands again I would use my 2480 in a heartbeat. It is a portable powerhouse.

I'm hoping once I power it back up that I don't encounter any problems like that.

This is so cool. 👍These really are timeless classics. 👌 And I am more referring to the line of VS recorders Roland made. I know the VS-2480 is a wonderful machine. But there’s also the VS-1680, or the VS-2400. And the one that I own, which is the last of that series of recorders. The VS-2000cd, which came out in 2003. It is the only one that has a USB connection. Which, in theory could be cool right? Yeah, and that’s it… in theory. But it’s only for transferring audio/ Projects off of the HD, just to make room. There is some software to convert that. If you don’t have that then there’s nothing you can do with it on a laptop or pc. You can potentially screw those up too if you try to open them on a pc. Then they might not open anymore on the VS. Great right?! 🙄 So much for that thing, that appeared to be so handy. 😎 But for the rest of it, it’s really still a very good recorder, editor and mastering machine. 👌 And I say that without any bias whatsoever. 😄🤣 Anyway… Thanks for this VS-2480 appreciation video, it’s great. Have a nice day y’all. 👍🙂
