Cars with two heads, two engines or three wheels. Cars that fold in half and even run by propeller. A 100 ton amphibious vehicle? This is not your typical car museum!
Lane Motor Museum features 150 unique cars and motorcycles and is home of the largest European collection in the U.S. The vehicles date from the 1920s all the way up to modern day and feature a varied collection of microcars, amphibious vehicles, military vehicles, alternative fuel vehicles, prototypes, one-of-a-kind vehicles and motorcycles. A great exhibit that the whole family can enjoy!
At Lane Motor Museum visitors are introduced to a broad variety of vehicles from Europe, Asia, and North and South America. Engineering, politics, geography, and economics are a few of the factors which have shaped vehicles throughout history. This is a working museum with the goal being to maintain all vehicles in running order.
We were there that night, it was a terrific evening. Always great to hear Jeff Lane speak - he and the museum are one of a kind and a labor of love for he, the staff, and the volunteers. And it shows in these events. Which are great in person, and will hopefully be broadcast live more often in the future.
Great museum. Try to visit it every time I'm in Nashville. Favorite experience was doing a ride along with Jeff and a couple other guests in his 1970 NSU RO-80. One of the guys in the backseat was a former engineer for Panoz. Learned a lot about NSU rotaries and Panoz roadsters during that drive.
I’m fairly certain the maiden voyage wasn’t until at least 1962 due to the time it remained hidden while it was worked upon in the garage across the street from my home, and maybe as late as 1963…
Who ever put this together please never ever put any music on. Ever. Ever again !People appreciating stuff like this, and this really good except the ghastly music, want to hear the actual machine!
stopped by in June, one of my many visits, displays change so I try to get by there a few times a year Basement ( the vault) is where the cool cars are!
The video had an issue, for me. It wouldn’t play the last 5min. Otherwise, very interesting. I’ve traveled to Nashville twice to see the Lane Motor Museum and it is by far my favorite Museum.
Was in a Larc Reserve unit in Palatka, FL. First time I heard of the Watercraft Operator MOS after my Regular Army time so I jumped at it. Got there and it was the Larc I would be driving. Had so much fun taking these out on the St. Johns River. Then you had to come back and grease everything.... worth it though.
Dear Merciful God, I pray to thee that electric cars end up being two wheeled upright with a flywheel like this and cost like 300 bucks. I never asked you for anything please this one thing please. Before I die.
U.S.N. military Beach Master amphibious assault teams utilized and trained with the LARC's also. It was not just the army that were assigned to the effective use of these crafts.
