Thump’em Up Fishing sells thumpers, a device used to attract striped bass, hybrid striped bass, white bass, and other fish to your boat! Why go look for fish when you can bring the fish to you!
This thumper is great! One of the best things I’ve bought. Eric is super helpful with questions you may have as well. I bug him with fishing questions all the time and he always responds. If you fish for striper or white bass, this thumper is a game changer! Get one!
Spider gear was popular when i started commercial fishing until the went to yearly quota. Used to run 2 50 hook spider gears with twisted 125 an and xtea burner gear. Im not sure if i started a new trend but i did my spider gear different then every1 else and they took alot longer to start twisting. Commercial fished for 20 years. Going on a 30 hour tuna on the 9th. Miss those days tho
Sorry but seriously? All that huff and puff and tagging out you had me hoping for an two-3 gaff 80 to 100 lb+ yellowfin tuna not a 20 lb-. Man bummer. Maybe next time.
I would say yes… lots of people use them. Jeff runs 2 pontoons with thumpers… ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ABmPpO6Dp24.htmlsi=EMxr2Ju1YNx1Pw3y
Hi Eric, I'm looking to get the Berkley X9 #50 braid for my deep drop rod (because its the thinnest #50 braid I have been able to find .030mm) do you have a color recommendation - green vs. white? Pros Cons?
I don’t have a color preference other than indicator braid for jigging when using a conventional or spinning reel…. Maybe others can chime in. One thing to consider is that the white is a little easier to see at night.
They have gear in the boat for normal bottom fishing and chunking for tuna. Additionally Matt seems to have a few extra combos for popping. I am not sure if he has extra deep drop rods but those are special requests and the people that book those trips all have it. If you get on one they would typically share. If you are interested email me at info@thumpemupfishing.com I will do a trip every quarter based on what’s biting.
Hi Eric, Jason from DFW here. My friends and I were wanting to ask: What’s something you would say or give advice to anyone that is just starting to fish? Whether if they want to do it casually or strive to be compete in it one day.
Hey Jason, fishing is not a one size fits all sport, there are as many ways to fish as there are fish! Beginner’s will have a dinner experience pursuing fish that are easier and more plentiful to catch (e.g. trout or sandbass vs largemouth). Keep it simple and fun first then expand out to more complicated species and techniques. Many fisher people are more than willing to help out new anglers so don’t be afraid to ask for help!
I use a short rod for jigging vs. a longer rod…. For casting I use a 7 1/2’ plus rod, for jigging normally 6’ or less. Chunking I normally just use a jigging rod. I recommend a rod stout enough to put the heat on a tuna, don’t go with a lite rod or you will have a prolonged fight and a higher potential to lose a big fish!
We do use it sometimes and it seems to help especially when you stop, the fish cluster under your boat. I will often keep a slab ready and drop it as soon as I get the fish in to try to pick up another one.
Yes it’s just a 2 loop dropper rig or chicken rig. You can also Carolina rig them. Key is to use salmon egg hooks so the bait will float above the grass that’s in many of these lakes!
Does each fisherman catch each species or are certain spots on the boat harder to catch fish? Does anyone sleep or just go all out for 30hours? Im thinking of bringing my 15yr old son??? Recommended or Not??? Thanks for making the video
1. The captain and crew will tell you the target species and the best way to catch them. Normally it’s squid for red snapper, vermillion snapper and whatever else bites. It may be freelining for kingfish etc. I normally catch pinfish for grouper and drop that first then switch if that doesn’t work. Tuna fishing uses poppers, swimbaits, chunk or jigs. Ask the deckhands and they will tell you. Best time to sleep is when the boat is moving from spot to spot. I normally don’t get much sleep! Bring your son but make sure he has a patch or something to prevent sea sickness. That is the worst experience!
@ThumpemupFishingchannel Do Crank baits work well for Tuna? I have a ton of those Is there a recommended pole length or line strength for Snapper vs Tuna? Is there a Rod limit? I have a few 4 piece poles that I took to Florida that I used off the piers. I was using 20-30lb braid & 20-30lb mono leader & I couldn't cast far. Other locals were using 10lb braid with a 20-30lb mono-leader & they were casting way out there.
@@MatthewsFabrication the most popular lure is the Halco Max 130 with upgraded hooks. I use 2/0 owner ST66 hooks although the new Halco hooks are much stronger. I use 50-65lb braid on all of my rods with 65 fluorocarbon for leader. My popping /casting rods are all 7’ or longer.
Wonder if a person could go digital with thumping. Experiment using low range frequencies on a subwoofer with digital driver. I could vision the elimination of the noise factor, where you couldn't hear it at all.
I would go a little heavier, I prefer 65lb. You never know what you will get, could be a red, AJ, or grouper. You could also get tangled or rub the hull…. 40 lb should work but I like the extra few pounds. Some guys go even heavier…
I missed getting on the deep drop and wahoo trips for the end of January and mid-February. It was sold out. waited too long. Now, I'm on the waiting list for both.
@ThumpemupFishingchannel it says sold out on all the dates till March for wahoo and deep drop. I think there is only one open in the middle of the week in February. If you find out otherwise, please let me know. I really wanted to go on atleast one.
Howdy! I found your video while looking for information to know on which Lake in Bethany Park is Lake C. I got more than I could ask for. Thanks a lot! God bless your beautiful family and their caring father.
