I have a question what kind of hair do you use ok your babies mo hair ? What kinda mo hair I’m having problems with my hair decisions can you let me know what options they have as far as newborn hair for ethnic & Caucasian babies
As long as you have good quality mohair you can do pretty much anything depending on how and where you root. We will go into rooting further along in the series;) I’ll go more in depth about hair mapping, direction and more:) I recommend checking out Southern Charm Mohair. They only sell through their facebook page, they have amazing hair;) facebook.com/share/DxRpqcsyuTBZwnUk/?mibextid=LQQJ4d Thanks again for watching:) 😁
Kelly, hello. Thanks for the video 🤗 Tell me how to mix lavender color? When red and Blue are mixed, a dark purple is obtained. Is there anything else you need to add?
You’re so welcome and I appreciate you watching;) Once you get your purple you can adjust the tone to your liking using white. Or I’ll sometimes use the Genesis 08. Doing one part of your pigment to one part thinning medium. If you want you can also dilute the pigment using a 1 to 2 part ratio. 😉😁
Your free tutorials are WAYYYYY more in depth then some people actually pay money for! Ive bought a 30 dollar wbook and it hardly had any info at all, and maybe like 5 pics the entire book
I’m so happy you’re finding them helpful! I absolutely love painting! It’s so rewarding knowing that someone is learning to do something that they’ll love too;) 💜 Thank you again for watching:) 🤗
Great question! No it’s not necessary to neutralize. However, it’s ultimately up to you. Personally I always think one step ahead. For an example, If the vinyl is orange and I want a pink undertone I will compliment the orange to work in my favor. 😉😁
I use heat set paints, I'm all varnished and my pencils wont show on vinyl. I would have varnished with americana and cornstarch but the new formula peels on top of heat set after a bit so I don't know what to do. I've tried all the obvious things
Next time If you bake after applying the pencils before varnishing, they will fade less and become permanent. The varnish just basically seals and prevents fading from happening. As for this time, from what I understand you’re saying, you applied an air dry varnish on top of the heat set paint with applied pencils? Now you’re experiencing fading? If so I wouldn’t recommend doing a heat set on top of the air dry. However, now that you applied the layer of varnish that may be enough to give the pencils some “teeth” to re-apply on top. Once finished repeat the process. You may need to play around on a test piece to figure out the application to get to the desired results. Let me know if that makes sense and how it goes! 😁 Thanks again for watching and happy painting my friend:)
@AlzsNursery no I haven't applied air dry varnish, that was my next step since I know the pencils draw fine on them from past experiences. I recently switched to heat set. I varnished with a matte heat set varnish that did leave a texture on the vinyl after pouncing...but the pencil wont draw on the vinyl like at all. Just glides and leaves no mark no matter how hard I press.
I’ve gotten prisma pencils in the past that acted the same way. Then I realized they were not the right pencils to use. Make sure your pencils are the professional grade premier pencils with a soft wax core. If they are the regular scholar prismas and not the premier grade, they are made with a combination of a harder wax. Not at all good to work on vinyl with. The soft wax core in the premier makes the pencil easier to apply. Because of the wax, when heated it will help set the pencils;)
@AlzsNursery they are premier and worked just fine on my last kits. Only thing different this time is the varnish. I geuss I'll have to work on my painted hair 🤦♀️
Boy I’m stumped 🤔 I’ll have to think about this one. Sorry I couldn’t be of more help;) If you find a solution let me know! I would love to hear how it works out:)
I love hearing they are helping you! Makes it so rewarding knowing they make a difference:) As always, I appreciate your support and feedback! 🤗 Happy painting my friend! 😁
I can definitely share information on how to apply the fibers. But, I don’t actually make the flocking;) 🤗 I will however I’ll be making the fibers available on the website soon:) Thanks again for the great question and request!
I tried to mix my blue wash, I only have the ultramarine blue, Genesis, but it doesn’t look like yours, lol, and can you tell me where you got your dry brushes, And also , is it necessary to neautralize the Bountiful Baby kits?
When creating your blue wash you simply need to use your primary blue (ultramarine blue). I would suggest mixing to the point the layers will be more transparent and less pigmented. That way the layers will build naturally;) The dry brushes I use most often are the makeup brushes by ECO tools;) You can get them pretty much anywhere. Hopefully I answered your question about neutralizing however don’t hesitate to reach out of you need more help or don’t understand;) I appreciate your support and all your questions! Happy painting my friend! 😁
Ultramarine is perfect. Don’t worry if it looks slightly different in the pot. Just make sure the blue you use is a primary and not a pre-mixed color;)
Great question! Depending on your preferences you may or may not need to neutralize. Think of the vinyl color (tonal value) as your undertone. Example- pink, peachy, rosy.. tone. If you like the tone it casts then you would build from there. If you prefer not to have a particular tone as your base then I would neutralize. Just remember color can always be corrected. So if you end up not liking a particular color that is created, correct it. Simply do light layers of texture until you achieve the color your looking for;) Thanks for watching and happy painting my friend! 😁
The shadows came individually in magnet pots to create your own palettes. However, the company has went out of business so you won’t be able to get an exact match. You can however use most shadows but make sure they are matte and highly pigmented. The other option is using pan pastels;) Thanks again for watching!
Thank you! This tutorial is excellent and just what I needed! The way you break everything down is brilliant. You're an awesome teacher! I'm definitely going to watch all of the tutorial videos now. Thank you for sharing your time and talent. Much Gratitude to you. 💛🙏🏼💛
Yes, once I achieve my base to the color and tone I’m looking for. At that point I’ll begin to build from there using my primary colors or colors that best suits the doll;) Great question! 😁
If you add your Ultramarine blue and Genesis yellow (or primary yellow), you will get your primary green. To get more of a lighter or translucent shade you want to use roughly a 3 to 1 ratio. Three parts thinner to one part pigment. I usually load one side of a 1/2 flat brush with each color. Adjusting pigment as needed to get to the right shade. With Genesis I will also add a few drops of baby oil. (This can only be done with genesis) 😉 When making your blue-green, you’re just going to add a bit more blue to your green mixture. So, one primary with one secondary will give you your tertiary color. Not sure the exact measurements but I will definitely mention that the next time I mix color! Often times I just use a pipette tool. Taking one color (I’ve already created) wash, to mix with another in a new dish or jar. Adding additional pigment as needed;) Thanks for the great question and watching! I appreciate your feedback:) 😁
Great question! You would still neutralize with the opposite color on the color wheel. So depending on your shade, I would stay in the green family. However, to ensure not getting too dark I wouldn’t do any washes. Just do as many thin layers of texture as needed to get to your desired tone;) 😁
Awe thank you for that;) I love sharing the art and hopefully helping others better themselves. I appreciate you watching and look forward to hearing about your progress! 😊
I can definitely show how to do that. I do go over how I did it and the tools used in video two. However, I can show how I do it on a different head as an example in video three;) Thanks again for watching!! 😁
I believe anyone can get what they want if they put their heart and soul into achieving their goals. We all just need to have a little patience and planning:) I know you will get your dream baby someday! Hugs my friend! Thank you again for watching!!
@@AlzsNursery the cancer treatments take everything and i am barely keeping my head above water. I am happy to watch though you taught me something i had never seen before all the babies i ever saw made were made with either straw or polyurathane foam. thank you for the education though that little one was so precious reminds me of my little brother Jaden when he was a baby
What a beautiful doll, you did a fantastic job. That’s a very noble cause to donate your dolls to. I donate mine to the ladies at the kidney dialysis centers. Great tutorials, I’ve watched most of them, but I always run out of time to leave a comment. My time is not my own. Smiles for miles, Joy😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
When using powders you get the best results when you incorporate your other essential colours when doing darker skin because although the skin is very clear due to the melanin in the skin, other colour nuances also play a part to create living skin ! Also anywhere you have indent it is shaded
There really is no right or wrong answer. Just depends on what you would like to see in the undertones of your base color to be. Think of washes as your highlight color prior to your blushing & shading. If you want to have more of a cool tone, I would start with your blue. If you want a more warm undertone I would start with yellow. Again all depending on what the vinyl’s base color is. Keep referring to your color wheel. Neutralize the colors you want to see less of and enrich the colors you want to see more of. Hopefully that makes sense;) Thanks again for watching! 🤗
Thank you for such detailed videos. I lead an Alzheimer’s doll cuddle therapy group that serves local nursing homes, and adding hospice respite soon. So far, I have only taken a few Lee Middleton ethnic dolls, and I am excited to add some ethnic reborns to my group of babies that I take for the therapy sessions. I will be using Ultimate Fusion, air dry paints.
