Thanks Dan. It certainly was an achievement and for every other person on this trip- were all still reeling from it at the moment- it was just two weeks ago 🤪🫠
Props on being an early reviewer of this incredible film. This movie sticks with you and is worth viewing more than once. It struck me in a way no film has since 'Schindler's List'. The cinematography is brilliant. The muted tones of the Ukraine scenes lend a surreal vibe to the horror experienced on Gareth Jones' venture to the Ukraine.
Thanks @groundhog5923 - apologies for the slow response - I'm not good at replying to comments quick enough. It's an amazing film isn't it. a story that highlights the quite extreme ways Government's take matters into their own hands, with little to no disregard to the impact they're having on innocent people's lives. Quite prescient one might say :(
Eh, maybe this film was always doomed to disappoint me because I'm such a huge fan of Hilma af Klint's work and it would probably never have satisfied me, but i genuinely felt this was a really soft film. The lack of emphasis on the art and her spirituality compared to the focus on the romantic side of the story (which I might add was totally fabricated) really let me down. In my opinion it should've been a much more psycho-spiritual mind warper than a kind of romance drama with a bit of art thrown in there.
ha! fair enough - I was concentrating on the shot and (perhaps somewhat vainly) concentrating on myself and the review! but that's a fair comment Jazza, I was doing the review in a rush from a Polish hotel room!... before my flight back to the UK :) ;)
I actually went into this blind. Saw it at the Cameo cinema in Edinburgh and although I thought it was quite a messy aesthetically film (probably more to due with budget and being filmed over the years), it's got me into their music. Will definitely check it out again.
That's great to hear Ian. Yes, I agree it is messy aesthetically - but I'm glad it's inspired you to get into their music - which is sublime at times and brilliant. So the doc has done it's job, one might say ;)
@@ToufiqueAli Yeh, I’m also editing/directing a music documentary for the last 6 years as well, so going to see an indie rock-doc in the cinema gave me a lift of spirits.
@@ivj that's good man. If you need a hand with any music docs content/ assist; give me a shout - I have a music filming/editing background. :) happy to help. Check out content at www.toufiqueali.com. Thanks
