Today, I'm reviewing the new film by Lasse Hallstrom, who previously brought us 'Chocolat' with Juliette Binoche and Johnny Depp and 'What's Eating Gilbert Grape' starring Leonardo Dicaprio and Johnny Depp again...
'Hilma' is 'closer to home' affair about the Swedish contemporary artist 'Hilma Af Klint (1862 - 1944). She was an abstract artist that predated the abstract art of Kandinsky, Mondrian and Malevich. For more info about her:

It's a fine standard of a film as a biopic and is essential viewing for artists who are especially interested in abstract/ surrealism and contemporary modern art. The film stars Tora Hallstrom as the artist in her younger years and Lena Olin playing her older self. The film also stars Lily Cole, Catherine Chalk, Rebecca Calder, Maeve Dermody & Jazzy De Lisser .
