I’ve gone down the rabbit hole of Ethereal Visions after watching your videos. Can’t decide if I want the original version or the Luna. Eeeeek Decisions. Both look beautiful.
What a nice surprise to see you back! Playing cards, there are so many different styles. If you want a quick crash course as a jumping point (you can always change things up for yourself ), there is a little RU-vid series by Queen of Diamonds. For Marseille, I think Kelly Bear has made a video lately about it, with lots of recommendations. Also Tom Benjamin has a fantastic series (and workbook). Very different, but easy approach: Vincent Pitisci's celtic cross.
Thank you so much 🥰 feels good to be back. I'll check out all those you mentioned!! I do love Tom Benjamin's style of Marseilles but could use a refresher 😅
I have the Squid Cake Marseille and it is also an amazingly straightforward and clear reader like your Marshmallow Marseille. I think its because the images are so clean and uncluttered that my brain does not get stuck in the tiny little details that can alter the meaning.
I love how you modified the deck. One of the reasons why I never bought the deck is because some of the cards didn't make sense as is. I love some of your swaps and it gives me ideas of how to even swap some more when I get the deck. I am wondering what are the sizes of the cards now that you trimmed them? How small are they?
I went through this with the Moonchild Tarot. I love so much of it, as art. As a tarot, for me, it's completely flat. I'd hang the Aces on my wall in a heartbeat. They're gorgeous. I just can't use it as a tarot, and that's okay. There are several oracles I have that are in the same boat, both artistically and how they're structured.
I have a Tarot board on my Pinterest, and one of the sections on that board is artwork/imagery I admire in decks. So for instance if I admire a deck as a whole, or even just a few cards, I post pics of that deck on the board where I can admire it without owning it. (Only for decks I know I wouldn't work with but want to appreciate, of course.) The decks I'm working with for February - whose birth gemstone is amethyst - are also the Reclaim Oracle like you, and the Moon Void Tarot - 3rd edition. I am very drawn toward the pinks this month, and focusing heavily on self-love readings as part of my therapy journey.
My fomo decks are deviant moon, hidden realms, Dame Darcy mermaid, because everybody was gushing about these decks, and finding them so amazing/ deep/ good for this work or that work.... Turned out these are my least used decks, and I got very mindful in choosing if and which deck I'd buy. Same goes for every purchase, and there are some things I stopped buying completely, because of the impact on my wallet, my space, as well as the environment. Things that I absolutely have Joy on missing out is *amethysts* and other crystals. They are so beautiful, but really, for me having more of them isn't worth destroying the earth, and I found out that whatever I'd use a crystal for works as well with the 4 stones I have, or even without any.
I think, for me, the joy of missing out comes from the benefits I get from keeping things streamlined. I have 3 tarot decks that I adore and use all the time plus a few oracle decks that have very specific roles in my practice. Having one drawer that holds everything and having strong bonds with each of my decks gives me a lot of pressure. It has also helped me understand what I really use so if I’m tempted to buy something I have clearer parameters. At first I bought lots of decks because they were fun or pretty but it left me feeling overwhelmed and wasteful so I donated the majority of them and stopped buying things that I didn’t have a specific job for. Nature is important to me so reminding myself of the devastating impact of our overconsumption also helps me limit purchases.
If there’s a deck who’s art I like, but I don’t use, I take pics of the cards I like, pin them on my Pinterest board, and then let go of the deck. Because I also prefer to have a smaller collection as I want to use all the. Cards in my collection
There are so many decks that I love the look of, but idk if it would work in my practice. Terra Volatile is my deck for this! I don’t think I would get it after mulling it over for months. But damn it’s a gorgeous deck. Also, wouldn’t you want a deck with amethyst in it!? 😅
Thank you for your interest! I used to have an etsy shop but with also working full time I decided to close it. I do however have a video showing how I make my bags, and in the description I listed some other tarot youtubers who make bags 🥰
It’s summer here in Australia. I’ve never modified any of my decks so I really enjoyed your video and what you did. 👏 thanks for sharing your insights.
My goodness, thank you so much. This is something new that I am trying to do. I have made one little bag, but there is a whole lot of room for improvement...LOL This is wonderful of you to show us. 😍
Thanks for this, Amanda! Funny thing is, I **just** learned to crochet. The very basics only. So this is actually a great project idea for me! Will have to try to remember to post a picture when I get one made. :)
That would be wonderful!! If you have any questions let me know. Have fun!! It's ok if you need to start over (even multiple times) and it can be a relaxing experience 😊
The Tarot de Carlotydes has been calling my name for a while. I've resisted it since it was released, but I've seen so much of it lately it's kind of growing on me. Great video!
I would buy my Ethereal Visions again too, this is my go to deck for relationship readings and it's super reliable and I also like the additional cards, I always use them in my readings!! The Marshmallow Marseille is lovely!! Thanks for sharing!
