I ended up needing to make this 2 videos, but here is my tarot update: the decks I want to use in February and some decks I'll be rehoming! Next video will be my bookish update! JOMO video: www.youtube.co...
I think, for me, the joy of missing out comes from the benefits I get from keeping things streamlined. I have 3 tarot decks that I adore and use all the time plus a few oracle decks that have very specific roles in my practice. Having one drawer that holds everything and having strong bonds with each of my decks gives me a lot of pressure. It has also helped me understand what I really use so if I’m tempted to buy something I have clearer parameters. At first I bought lots of decks because they were fun or pretty but it left me feeling overwhelmed and wasteful so I donated the majority of them and stopped buying things that I didn’t have a specific job for. Nature is important to me so reminding myself of the devastating impact of our overconsumption also helps me limit purchases.
I went through this with the Moonchild Tarot. I love so much of it, as art. As a tarot, for me, it's completely flat. I'd hang the Aces on my wall in a heartbeat. They're gorgeous. I just can't use it as a tarot, and that's okay. There are several oracles I have that are in the same boat, both artistically and how they're structured.
If there’s a deck who’s art I like, but I don’t use, I take pics of the cards I like, pin them on my Pinterest board, and then let go of the deck. Because I also prefer to have a smaller collection as I want to use all the. Cards in my collection
I have a Tarot board on my Pinterest, and one of the sections on that board is artwork/imagery I admire in decks. So for instance if I admire a deck as a whole, or even just a few cards, I post pics of that deck on the board where I can admire it without owning it. (Only for decks I know I wouldn't work with but want to appreciate, of course.) The decks I'm working with for February - whose birth gemstone is amethyst - are also the Reclaim Oracle like you, and the Moon Void Tarot - 3rd edition. I am very drawn toward the pinks this month, and focusing heavily on self-love readings as part of my therapy journey.
There are so many decks that I love the look of, but idk if it would work in my practice. Terra Volatile is my deck for this! I don’t think I would get it after mulling it over for months. But damn it’s a gorgeous deck. Also, wouldn’t you want a deck with amethyst in it!? 😅
My fomo decks are deviant moon, hidden realms, Dame Darcy mermaid, because everybody was gushing about these decks, and finding them so amazing/ deep/ good for this work or that work.... Turned out these are my least used decks, and I got very mindful in choosing if and which deck I'd buy. Same goes for every purchase, and there are some things I stopped buying completely, because of the impact on my wallet, my space, as well as the environment. Things that I absolutely have Joy on missing out is *amethysts* and other crystals. They are so beautiful, but really, for me having more of them isn't worth destroying the earth, and I found out that whatever I'd use a crystal for works as well with the 4 stones I have, or even without any.
