Thanks Robbie. I need to get back into it. During the lockdown relaxation hour outages I started running. My route was the same, constantly, and is exactly 5k along bexhill seafront. I got down to sub23 5k. I stopped when my second little one came along and life got in the way. But I tried to run recently (regrettably I’ve put on a fair bit of weight) and I got injured. I’ll push hard to get back into it. A content creator started a running group on Facebook and it really helped, worth you doing something similar as your reach is amazing and you could really help some people.
Good vid. I'm in a very similar situation, did run Norwich and was hoping for a PB and rolled in at about 4 mins south of it! Doing the Larking Gowen half as well, it'll be my first half in about 2 years. Looking forward to it. Maybe I'll see you on the course.
Hey Robbie! Thanks for this video, I’m someone who struggles with similar sort of issues, and keeping motivation to run can last a day to 4 months but almost always ends! Thanks mate x
What's the background on Robbie? I've only just started watching him. I know he appears on Jackmate sometimes and he worked, or still works with tv as a camera man or editor. Something like that.
This video was great Robbie. Would love more running content. Not many people speak about the motivation etc with running. "Run influencers" only tend to show all the best bits but those of us that do run know its not always that straight forward
i hadnt heard that and tbh it doesnt sound like great advice as surely your feet arent swelling to the point that theyve grown to the next size up and any swelling should be covered by the designed stretchiness in the fabric of the shoe. like the coach suggests, if its that much of an issue for you then go to a running/sports store where they can assess your gait and any other issues they spot, tailored specifically to you, rather any generic advice you can find online. maybe also consider what socks youre using as it sounds like your feet need to breath more. ankle socks with toughened pressure point patches on them would be my suggestion, as theyre what i use and they only just show above the trainer, so get as much air to your feet via your exposed ankles whilst running. oh and relace your trainers so that there's more slack in the middle to allow room to swell/breath, something i do with mine too. it should never get uncomfortable and obviously still be firmly tied at the top so that its not working loose due to the slack a few eyelets down.
That moment when the plane "stops" is just the engines decelerating and the plane's nose slightly pitching forward, which gives you a sinking feeling, the plane is still accelerating though and you're perfectly fine
Well done to you both. But especially Jack. Heard him get into running many times and drop off it. Seems like he’s doing it regularly. Did a great time recently and even saying he’s going to do a marathon
and then once youve done that - or preferably before - do a little deep dive into the veracity of their qualifications as any Tom, Dick or Harry youtuber or insta influencer can claim professional status when it comes to diets & nutrition, thats why theres so much bunkum advice and counter arguments for & against this & that and often revolving around the latest trending superfood or supp. if you've checked all your confirmation biases and havent just stopped at the first blogger that agrees with your preconceptions, then you'll probably find youve got a bewildering array of opinions that leave you with more questions than answers. isnt the internet a wonderful place full of good faith advice without hidden agendas...
Fantastic point Jack about how you get so much more out of running with a consistent weekly mileage. Its so true, often my friends have a run, get put off and don't continue. Consistency is key! and who cares about pace anyway? One foot in front of the other.
The positive effect running has mentally, at least for me makes all the hard sessions worth it, that finish line feeling can't be described, only experienced. Really happy to see it become more popular in recent years, videos like this definitely help people take that plunge and start too
@@RobbieKnox Reckon that's a lot of us 😂 dragged along to parkrun 6 years ago, to hating life without the sport, crazy one, but met so many people through it. Best sport going
Got the Great South Run in October, Local half marathon in November & a local 5miler start of December, Manchester marathon booked for April! Hoping to PB all, as long as i stay injury free. great to see Jack running, i hope to see him on a few running podcasts hopefully???
I picked up running because I wasn't naturally good at many sports, and running did need any "skill", just fitness. Haven't run a step for over 3 years because of injuries but still enjoy watching it, and getting out on the bike to pace the wife.
I fucking hate running Robert, I hate the feeling I hate the loneliness I hate the bore of it I do bjj now and have no plans of ever running again but I love u so I will watch this video
Just did my 5th New Forest 10k on Sunday. I really like running but after a serious ACL injury 10 years ago I’ve had to spread it out. I’ve since done many others, including the Great South Run, but I’d like to do 12 next year - one a month for my 30th year. I wanted to do six this year but tendinitis has capped that back to two currently. Hoping for four maybe. I enjoyed your marathon vids earlier this year.
Hi Robbie, great video! I have just signed up to Barcelona marathon 😀 I have never done a marathon before and it was always on my bucket list. I have done a half marathon before (Broadland half). Thank you for the little push that I needed 🤩
broadland half was meant to be my first in 2015 but i missed the entry limit and did the bungay black dog half instead and then norwich half a couple of years later. ive still yet to step up to the big boy fulls as yet...one day, one day, maybe next year (been saying that since 2017)...
@@ManWalksDogs Get involved! My friend and I have been entering the general ballot for London marathon for about 10 years 😂 knowing we probably won’t get in, so this is a much better shout!
Really needed this video! Went from running 2-3 times a week in July and doing 40k total to having no motivation since end of August. Time to get back at it 🏃
I was born and raised in Norwich and am a very proud East Anglian. I moved away a year a bit ago to pursue my career, and it is videos like this that always take me right back to the Fine City. Big love Robbie 💛💚
Cheers for this Robbie. I’m going through a drop off myself at the moment with running, not been in a few weeks. Heading back out tomorrow now. Sometimes it’s things like this that just give you that needed boost.
As a man who's become far too wide due to covid and Work From Home, this was a welcome first sight on my youtube after ironically getting back in from my walk!
So true , it’s all about routine. If I don’t go for a run I just feel like a lazy piece of shit for that day , it’s all about momentum , Great video cheers 👍🏻
@@RobbieKnox I really enjoyed it thanks, it was only a 5k but i will definitely be going again tomorrow. I felt happy with myself once I was done with was surprising.
@@deanshields8031Give it 2 days and see if you can still walk...I couldn't after my first and only 5km 😂 Admittedly it was for a bet so I was pacing it, maybe slower would've helped!
@deanshields8031 Dean your first run doing a 5k is excellent! I'm no expert but run 3 times w week for at least 4 years. What I will say is, I never regret going for a run but always regret not going...
start taking your kids to parkrun at the weekend (9am saturdays for 5k, theres also kids ones on sunday mornings which i think are 2k) - that way it becomes soething you do as a family and starts your weekend together well and has you all out of the house, up & moving in the fresh air & nice scenery.
