So don't get me wrong. I love all the Spider-Men. Tom Holland is fantastic, and Andrew Garfield was amazing as well, not to mention the Spider-Verse films are instant classics. But, this scene is why Spider-Man is my number one favorite hero of all time! Peter JUST got his powers back, and realized he was born to go down this path in life. But let's face it, he is a bit outmatched here. Peter is a genius, but so is Doc Ock. He has to deal with taking him down, while protecting the innocent bystanders on this train, AND in the back of his mind, knows that these tracks don't go on forever. He has minutes to get this all together! During the fight with Doc Ock, Peter has fractions of seconds to plot and execute his next move, as well as compensate for every mistake he is making during the entire sequence. And when he has to stop the train! Holy crap! We all know that Spider-Man has super strength, but how much weight is he fighting against in a desperate attempt to keep this train from crashing and killing everyone?! And not once does he even consider his own life and how much this is going to hurt and suck. His only thoughts are, “I'm all that stands in the way of a real disaster! I have to save these people!” (I might add too, he's got a healthy dose of Captain America in him! Never back down, never stop fighting the good fight!) Absolutely epic!
Holy shit man the blood lust, strength, determination and power Spiderman showcased here is crazy.. And toughness after taking a hit from a train. Tobey really is the toughest and strongest Spiderman.
In film school, they said this is the movie that saved Tom Cruises career... Hard to explain unless go back in time and see where Tom was during that period as far as movies and personal life and antics. In fact, I'm only watching this cause it was linked from one of the lessons
I was a happy 10 year old when this film came out and let me tel me, seeing this fight (the theatrical version at least) just made me smile the entire time seeing Spider-Man kicking ass! Tobey will always be the GOAT!
Tobey will always be my childhood spidey, I became a Spider-Man Stan because of his movies. I was born in 1999, I’ve been a die hard Spider-Man because of Tobey! I have a Spider-Man 2 collectors edition dvd set in mint condition, Spider-Man no way home hoodie, Spider-Man shirts, Spider-Man posters, Spider-Man key lanyard, Spider-Man lunchbox (the amazing Spider-Man) I picked up for 50 cents at a thrift store with a Spider-Man plaque I mounted to my wall not counting I have almost every Spider-Man video game ever released and all the Spider-Man dvds, I still Have my tobey spiderman 3 pencil I used in 4th grade, and my dad took me to see Spider-Man 3 just the two of us on release day and he passed from cancer in 2014 when I was almost 16 and I saw no way home early release day in theators December 16th 2021, I also got a Spider-Man SnapBack!
I like how Doc Ock learns to look behind him whenever he has a hostage like Mary Jane in the film, in the event they try to hit him with something like May did in this scene.
I love that the Les Grossman character was entirely made up by Tom when he read the original script. So this is entirely Tom's doing and it fucking works.
Spider Man 2 - Michael Stevenson's Fighting Over Martin Coleman's Don't follow Me San Jose's Police Department Sirens wailing Defeated By Michael Stevenson
In the Hungarian dub instead of "I'll massacre you..I'll fuck you up", he says a line to the meaning of: "I'll make a bloodbath and a blood-steam-bath as well!" One of the greatest lines I've ever heard.
Why the hell wasn't this in the theatrical release ? The fight scene may be a few minutes longer but it's fucking spectacular. Can't believe this is 20 years old. It aged tremendously well.
Wait. Ock throws Spider-Man forward at 1:45 and Spider-Man catches up with Doc Ock from behind. How is this possible? Conclusion: Spider-Man 2 is wrong.
