I'm a normal guy trying to live and love the life the Lord God gave me a second chance on. I started years ago making DIY types of videos to help encourage people that you CAN do just about anything with a little know how and determination. I went silent for a while, as life got very busy and priorities changed.
Then in Jan 2023 I nearly died, no major warning signs, just a terrible cough. I've been battling a massive Mature Teratoma tumor in my chest, wrapped around my heart / lungs / esophagus / diaphragm, etc.. since Jan 2023. Then came the Multiple open heart Surgeries to remove said tumor. I hope to inspire, and bring awareness to a rare disease that has practically no coverage on RU-vid or the Internet in general. If you're unlucky enough to have, or know someone who has a similar situation in their life; stay strong, have faith, and be prepared for a serious battle that will test you the entire way. But with God, ALL things are possible.

@@petergreenan9178 ended up having to replace pickup tube and oring, along with rebuild on cam, lifters, VLOM, etc... what gets me is afterwards my oil pressure is NOT what it used to be. Always ran 35+ hot idle, 50+ cold start idle. Now hot idle is more like 27-30 and only sits about 35-40 when driving. Ship checked pickup tube literally 5 or 6 times, and connected pressure gauge at oil filter and everything there was strong and normal. I think the press sensor they used (they tried 3 diff ones, last one is AC Delco) is crap, or somehow there's less restriction in the top end. Maybe a cam that's undersized to bearings by a thou or something? Everything within GM spec, but it really baffles me as to why that happened.

Yep, sodas and all the other rainbow colored drinks are probably the one thing that if removed from diet, will single handedly improve your health. Just water and unsweetened coffee is probably 80-90% of what I drink in a day. Then Kefir as it's exceptionnal for the gut and occasionally alkohol-free beer because I unexpectedly learned its super good for health too, including heart since this is a topic here. But the whole the list is quite long. The alkohol content in normal beer negatively outweighs the positives, so no shortcuts here.

@Teratoma-T
@Teratoma-T 2 дня назад
@@pam164 that's a massive topic by itself. Not sure about England, but in USA, food groups is not something really taught or common knowledge any longer. Everyone is trained to look at calories and that's it. "Who cares what makes up the ingredients as long as it low in calories" - Average uninformed person in US. A few decades ago Iodine was in our salt, it was mandated by Govt. Past dozen or so years no more iodine. I've noticed far too many natural, cheap and accessible essential to life compounds and ingredients have become difficult to find unless you're intentionally seeking them. The avg IQ as a population has dropped 15-20pts overall, cancers and diseases are exploding, life expectancy has dropped to 3rd world or worse levels. And what I notice most is lack of proper whole nutrition, and an ever expanding use of Western medicines, vaccines, drugs, etc... I may not be an expert in the field, but I do have common sense and make a living from statistics and interpretation of things like this; it seems plain as day to me that these may not be direct causes (they probably are) but they're certainly contributing to the issues we see in our health today.

@Teratoma-T 2 дня назад
@pam164 I wish we were more similar to you, and other parts of the world in some ways. We allow FAR too much synthetic / chemical garbage, seed oils, coloring, etc.. into our food and call it "safe". A good example is the French fries (or chips across the pond?) at the famous Restaurant starting with a M in a golden arch font. In the US, these simple fries have something like 19 ingredients. It should be Potatoes, salt, oil (from fryer). Instead we have tons of coloring, preservatives, and other unnatural junk. I believe the EU only allows them to use 5 ingredients in the same fries in Europe. So while we may be ahead in ways, or the same in others, believe me there's plenty of us here that wish we had our foods more in line with yours.

Hey, I’ve also had some neuropathic pains in feet and hands. I never got a proper unequivocal diagnosis, despite a few tests, scans and neurologist visit. We stoped at eliminating the big stuff. A complex problem, for which not having a clear diagnosis can be a good thing, because some of them are nasty illness. So I’ve used Palmitoylethanolamide (PEA), a fatty acid amide which has anti inflammation, anti nerve pain properties. Things have improved massively with time. To be honest, I’m unable to say its because of PEA or in spite of it, but it didn’t hurt. I’ve heard cancer patients, with post-chemo neuropathic pains also take it. Maybe you want to check it out, seems rather natural, over the counter stuff. As for vit D, I think no matter what, it’s super important to have good levels and definitely not enough people care for it. From what I gather, chronic deficiency has potentially huge implications for some serious diseases, which we don’t necessarily understand yet.
@Teratoma-T
@Teratoma-T 2 дня назад
Thanks for the info, have you ever used Tumeric for inflammation? I Couldn't agree more about Vit. D. It wasn't even something that had ever crossed my mind. So many food labels brag about high vitamin content, or 100% of daily value blah blah. So it's like you think you're getting what's needed, but I've been looking for D on labels and not finding it. Most is A-C (and is probably synthetic which is not ideal). Either way.... It AMAZED me the symptoms people were reporting having with D Deficiency, and improvement when sticking with supplementation. Everything from psychiatric behaviours to physical pains, sweating of only certain body parts (usually the head), insomnia, etc... it was unreal. But, I'm no longer surprised. Just like oxygen, it's an essential compound for human body so no surprise it can cause chaos when levels are off. I'm not trying to blame all my issues on Vit D, but that's something that really jumped out on the labs, and last I checked 2+2 still = 4, so we shall see what happens in the coming weeks / months as I heavily supplement. To be continued..... Thanks for watching and writing!
@let0atreides
@let0atreides 2 дня назад
Totally agreed. Vit D is also related with the immune system and by extension with auto-immune diseases. And there are many. I’m trying to stick to around 3000iu daily, preferably taken with food which has some fats in it because it’s fat soluble, for good absorption. Some people recommend even 5000iu. I also don’t stop taking it in the summer, as the sun is just not enough and increasing sun increases skin cancer risk. Tough navigation. Also magnesium helps to activate it. I’ve heard about turmeric and its benefits but never tried it personally. I’m trying not to get overwhelmed with supplementation as it gives impression of being sick when it’s not necessarily the case. Good diet is probably the most important base.
@Teratoma-T
@Teratoma-T 2 дня назад
That's what I aim for, mainly dietary means. But I'll be doing short little clips of my findings with foods, and nutritional content in the coming days / weeks. Tonight should be one with a few juices / milk I encountered in the grocery. What I'm beginning to see is shocking to say the least, and not in a good way. Good info on dosing. Some Docs seem to demonize that level of Vit. D, which I largely understand as false (natural / pre-existing cheap vitamins and meds is not good for pharma profits when a Rx can be sold for many times the cost).

I was wondering why the doctor didn’t take out the piece of chest tube while you were already open instead of making you go through that again?
@Teratoma-T
@Teratoma-T Месяц назад
@@lindamastropietro4429 Good question. The chest tubes are left in for drainage. So they removed the broken tube that was supposed to come out that morning, but then had to replace it with a new tube, or two, I can't recall exactly. Any time they go inside (whether through huge opening or robotic methods using a small hole like VATS), is almost guaranteed there is a fair amount of tissue damage and a drain must be installed.

@@lindamastropietro4429 I couldn't agree more! Lol. Alive is good! Yeah, hell is a great way to describe it. Amazingly (to me anyways) I still have triggers that get me very emotional, horrible awful dreams or random memories of my time in the hospital (especially in the delirium of waking up slowly and passing back out while being intubated). I really feel for anyone experiencing similar things.

@@lindamastropietro4429 thank you for the kind words and for watching, yes it was quite an experience for sure. Not one I'd ever care to watch someone deal with or repeat myself. I am certainly doing my best to get back to normal, but afraid there is definitely a new normal and the old one is a little out of reach. Hopefully not, but try not to get too optimistic. God bless

For a man to have a teratoma that is extremely rare although either one of the genders could have a teratoma, it’s pretty rare in a man it’s also one of the things that has caused medical school students to absolutely collapse cold on the floor when they first see and dissect a teratoma tumor! The word teratoma is a Latin derivative of terror. Because the contents of a teratoma cyst can be anything from teeth, eyes hair a plethora of things left over.

Absolutely correct. Sounds like you're pretty familiar of these? I wasn't aware of the origin of the word, that's very interesting, and very original. Can't claim to have any parts inside, but was told it was "meat", "gelatinous", and "very hairy". There is a video on my playlist about this that shows a few images / video from inside the OR. I had to see it, and my surgeon obliged. Glad I got to see it, it was absolutely massive and grotesque. It's 18+ for obvious reason

Thanks for watching and writing! I'm certainly not where I'd hoped I'd be. I felt like the topic grew kind of stale, like I lacked anything relevant or interesting to talk about. I sure should do some more, there's been challenges, I've fallen well short of my expectations when it comes to physical ability, pain, etc... Sadly my Dr's can't give too much advice since none of them have ever had a similar case to me. So at times I feel like a science experiment or something 🤪. I've thought about making more content lately, maybe talking about a certain topic related to my experience and then expanding that out to something relatable to pretty much anyone. So stay tuned, I can't promise exactly when or that it will even be great material, but I feel that talking about it certainly helps keep my head more clear and get things off my chest. Have a great day, God bless

Woulda been nice, but. Total top end rebuild was needed for a couple failed AFM lifters. They died slowly actually, minor pitting on those cam lobes

@Teratoma-T
@Teratoma-T Месяц назад
@@margaretskinner6972 Nobody truly knows, all the cancer speacialists and surgeons can only theorize since these are so uncommon. The most likely of which is since birth / developing in womb, starting as a very small germ cell (originating / migrating from testes and finding a home near heart). I can say, that looking back I felt like something in my chest was a little "off" for a few years prior, but no real symptoms or anything persistent enough for me to really take notice. Anything I ever felt was easily dismissed as something harmless (getting older, heart burn, hard days work, etc...). That's what's scary, because even the times where I was looked at by Dr's more closely in the 6months or so prior (in the chest region). It was always said to be bronchitis, the cold, etc... I'm VERY grateful that urgent care nurse took an X-ray and looked at it more closely. My lungs by this point were about half way collapsed due to the size of the tumor and huge amount of fluid, and she just happened to see my heart and think it was grossly enlarged (wasn't the heart, just the massive tumor on x-ray). Thank you for watching, and big kudos to you for being able to see this. I'm amazed how few views this has compared to the non-graphic videos.
