That was a great video. I have Breville Creatista Plus that is leaking. I actually removed the little slide out espresso shelf that sits under the capsule waste tray and cut a yellow kitchen sponge to fit the space. It seems to absorb the leaking water, but it's only a workaround. I'll have to try giving it all a clean like others have in your comments.
Thank you so much for posting this (and making the video twice - such perseverance!). I was so fed up with my 10 year old machine leaking constantly and your video gave me the confidence to give this repair a go. Also helped that the part was supplied by a company only 25 mins away so I managed to get it all done in one afternoon. My husband was totally impressed with not just me but also your video too - incredibly helpful step by step guidance! Now onto trying to sort my Shark floor steamer….thank you again!
So happy it worked for you. This is what RU-vid is about, helping people with common issues. I did all of this not to try and be a SM guru, but out of frustration with Nespresso customer service. Good luck with the shark!
@@jamesroberts2907 Yes agreed we had another model Breville that went for repairs 3 times and each time it was like nothing had been done. At the time we had a wooden Ikea style kitchen bench and the continuous leaking water had soaked into the bench, split it and started to go mouldy. My wife told Breville they could give us a new machine and pay for bench repairs. Initially they just said they'd give money to the value of the machine, about AU$279 from memory, and after my wife turned that down they said they'd give us the Creatista Plus valued at about AU$799 at the time on the condition they wouldn't pay for the bench repairs. We took that offer as we were actually demolishing our house to build a new one so didn't really want the bench repaired anyway.
Fab stuff. My Citiz started leaking after 7 years of regular use - so I retired it and bought a Sage. I found it in the loft a few days ago - Googled repairing it - bought a new head unit (£30) and followed this video! AND GUESS WHAT......? It now works perfectly with no leaks at all! It took me about 50 mins all in - and YES invest in the oval screw tool (£4)👍🏻 😊
James, thank you so much for taking the trouble to post this, albeit yrs ago 😊. Perfect fly through of this repair and i’m now a hero to my wife…for how long i can’t say!
to save having to take the base plate off,get to the stage where james is at 3.30 mins with the edges unclipped. lie the unit on its side and bend the base away from the side cover, with a flat prising tool[cutlery knife will do]the center clips will release. repeat for the other side. only takes a few minutes to get to the brewing cartridge with no special tools needed. my one had an insect partially blocking the outlet😝 causing a leak coffee tasted better with insect in🤣
My Magimix machine leaked too, result was more coffee/water? in the capsule container than in a cup. It was caused by blocked holes in the disk that's in front of the capsule, it has 25 very small canals and 9 were blocked and others might be blocked partly. Thorough cleaning was difficult without dismanteling the machine. I managed too open the machine,i managed to unscrew 2 screws,2 others were released with force without damaging the plastic wings of the machine on the outside, on the inside there was damage but not visible at all when the machine's closed. The disk could be released and cleaned, after cleaning in hot vinegar using a nailbrush all 25 canals were open again and the machine never leaked since then. Assume the pressure is too high for 15 open holes and some partly closed ones so the coffee and water search for a way out and found it ending up in the capsule container..... The exotic oval screws are the biggest problem to solve the problem that can be solved so easily. If you look at te oval screws you might think they aren't screws, they look like pop rivets.
Our old Kurig coffee maker quit after about 10 years. This new one has several upgrades like not being “on” 24 hrs a day. I like that it turns off after an hour no or so. Works great.
Firstly, what a wonderful video - both precise and easy to follow and, more important, leads to a successful outcome, as it once again works perfectly. There are only a couple of things I would add. Firstly, I think James was very unlucky with his machine ,as I've had mine a number of years before the "water tray" problem ocurred. Because mine was older than James' machine, I gave my Magimix Nespresso a really good clean whilst it was in parts and before I re-assembled it. I did take James' advice and I bought the oval screwdriver as this made unscrewing the base very easy, other than the comment about having the last corner of the base "difficult" to separate. But it does come off. The only thing which might catch somebody out was that the old M190 brew unit (the bit that needed replacing) was attached to the unit with four T10 torx screws - and you got it, I didn't this size screwdriver! So, having purchased one, problem solved. Overall, a successful replacement following a perfect demonstration on how to do it. Thanks Paul. Peter McCaffrey
I had a go at taking the brew unit apart and it seems easier than what you have already done to get to the brew unit. Less chance of snapping plastic tabs and easy to put back together. I only found one D-Ring seal... DRings are tricky to find 'off the shelf'. I tried BS125 2.62mm Section 33mm Bore EPDM Rubber O-Rings which seems a little small but seems to have fixed the leak for now. So, if you got this far, I recommend trying just replacing the seal. Maybe try a very slightly bigger one. I don't know how long this fix will last...
Several places have them. Here is one www.espares.co.uk/product/es1885561?+shopping&+shopping&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI077t66af_gIVDNDtCh3roAIIEAQYASABEgJsY_D_BwE
Thank you so much for posting this video, it has been amazing. I have dismantled my 11 year old Nespresso Milk Citiz machine (and without the oval screw, screwdriver and pliers, used a credit card and a butter knife😂as my screwdrivers were too thick- must update my tool box). I’ve now ordered a new unit from Magzimix and I’ll come back to your video for reassembly. You explain everything so thoroughly, and your video gave me confidence to tackle this project, even with weak hands (used my husbands hands for pulling the case off, it was a cringe worthy moment, but successful). Thankfully I have a spare machine, whilst I await for the £30.00 (plus £5.00 48 hr delivery) part to arrive. It’s really annoying your machine’s brew unit gave up after only 2 years😮, and Nespresso wouldn’t honour a free diagnostic. Once my machines have both given up and no longer repairable, I’m considering getting a bean to cup machine as Nespresso’s capsules have escalated in cost, and their customer service has gone down. Thanks once again James for your time and knowledge share.
Oh my gosh thank you so much for your vid. My old machine was a wedding present for our garden studio, and sentimentally I didn’t want to replace the machine as one of the couple who brought it for us has passed away. I now feel confident I can replace brew the unit myself 🎉🎉 . The joy of emptying my capsule drip tray every 4 capsules was wearing me down😂!!
Thank you Mark, for taking the time to pen your appreciation. It’s people like you that make the world a nicer place to live. Pleased it worked for you.
Many thanks for your tutorial on this repair. As others have said, put up with the machine leaking underneath for ages. Purchased the brewing chamber and oval bit. The plastic sides on my machine broke a little bit on the top clips but but it all went back together OK. Thanks again.
Thank you for doing this video James, it was a real help. Here in AUS, the manufacturer wanted AU$240 up front just to get them to take a look at it! With the info you put in this this video, and the special tool to remove the elliptical headed screws on the bottom and a replacement coffee difuser (?) - the part that was leaking, I was finished in under an hour and cost less than $100. Great work James, much appreciated. Two thumbs up!
Hi i have a nespresso c120 same as the video as u.. When i try turning on everything when well but after i start to press for the coffee mode and after the hot water came out the whole power trip
You should use other makes of capsules, Nestle are without doubt one of the worst, least ethical companies on the planet. Any opportunity to not give them money should be taken
Hello James, thank you for this video was very helpful. I have a question however with the water feed and return hoses. The smaller of the 2 hoses had come off from inside the main body before I had it apart and now can not see where it connects inside the main body. That’s the only thing stopping me from putting it all back together. Thank you if you do manage to reply
Hi Bill, Plastic or rubber pipes? Plastic goes on the back of the brew chamber, the same item you bought. Rubber supply and return go on the respective nozzles at the base of the machine. Side by side.
@@jamesroberts2907 shorter of the rubber ones, found iit disconnected from both the base and inside of the body. After looking for some time eventually found where it was supposed to go. At bottom of a black connector. , thank you once again for your video and for taking the time to reply.
Thank you. This is a brilliant video. I don’t have the ability/know-how/wish to repair my leaking machine, but great to see how it works and how it’s put together. I will look at more of your sides.
Thank you very much! Couldn’t work out how to take the cover odd. It is so evil to have those really subtle oval screws. Cynically designed to stop us repairing the machines and forcing us to use their expensive repair service or buy a new one. Saw another video suggesting that it usually is the percolation plate so hopefully when I eventually get it open I will be able to unblock the holes.
James, this is fantastic. I've been able to fix our coffee machine for less than £40 instead of paying £250 to replace it. You have distilled the dream of the internet as a medium for sharing information in a single, simple video. Thanks so much. I'll also try the tip of washing & cleaning our old part as a backup.
Really helpful video, thank you. My machine is a Nespresso Essenza but the principles apply to lots of 'original' machines. In my case I also followed another video that complements this one very well and I replaced a rubber O ring inside the brewing chamber. That fixed my problem - I did have hot water coming out from beneath the lever, but no more. Thanks again.
Save yourself the hassle! If you have a water flosser use it and spray it up the nozzle where the coffee comes out. It just get rid of so much black gunk!! Let me know if it works for you!
Thank you James, your video is very helpful, My machine has the same issue, Nespresso citiz which is almost identical to your machine. Much appreciated.
Thank you so much for making this video, my machine is identical to the one in your video. My machine started to leak last year but become really bad recently, I stripped it down yesterday to find one plastic tubes had come off, I put it back together and it now work’s fine
Thank you! I have the exact same model, with the same problem. Got the spare part via your link, the tool from eBay and got it up and running again within an hour. Brilliant video!
