This video just confirmed that I have a 1972 SS15. I have owned it for around 45 years and not used it for the last 25. I just can't bear to sell her. Thanks for the video and the memories.
The item that you do not know what it is, is the hour meter. Their is a hinged lid on the back side of the item. Pry it open & you will see ouddometer, which reads out the engine hours.
Great video, i bought my ss12 couple years ago. Its a good little tractor, only thing besides belts i have done is a newcarb this year. I want to find a plow and grader blade. I also got a st 16 parts mower with it.
Very neat to see all of the tractors. Recently my dad bought a 1967 Suburban 10, and it's been really neat to work on with him. Had to replace all the belts, replace the brakes with required us to pull the transmission, replaced the transmission fluid, had to fix up the mower deck. Right now all it really needs is a new battery so that you can actually use the starter. Apart from things like rusted bolts it's been pretty easy to work on. It now drives really well. The motor runs great, and did since we bought it. The 66-68 Suburbans are some of my favorite looking tractors
Im a die hard cub guy, but still working on trying to get my hands on my neighbors gt/19.9 something about them old onan twins and it being a distinct sound of childhood i dont know what it is lol
I can tell you this was a video time travel for me Sir. I used and repaired most of these tractors for myself and most of my neighbors. Back in the day sears garden tractors were everywhere. Giving most users memory that has not faded. I wish I had the opportunity to have meet the two men who started Sears and Roebucks company. They must of been super visionaries. Today we have nothing as great as we had years ago. Just tin can tractors with plastic gearboxes. I would bet if the visionary men were revived from the grave they would shoot the corporate CEOs, PERIOD !!!
I have one of these Sears Suburban Tractors that I would like to sell. Can someone please tell me what it might be worth? It is not in running order and has not run since the early 80's I guess. Its blue with orange wheels. It has 3 vent sections on each side of the hood. Thanks!
Wonderful video! Brings back good memories. I'm a wheel horse guy but I've owned a few Seaes garden tractors. Amazing machines! I had a beautiful blue and white SS12. Had a push blade that was never used, mower deck, chrome hub caps, wood grain dash, cigarette lighter and the original sears tires. Such a tough little tractor! Better times back then. Now everything is plastic or paper thin or over complicated for no reason and can barely pull their own weight! Over priced and can't even make through the warranty period without falling apart!
Hello 👋 do you know how high thé valve timing is set on That engine briggs strattons 13hp roper....year1973? I don't know?in my country no have info...thank you very much
I have the 1968 sears suburban 12 I just need to restore it and put it back to work along with my IH cub cadet 129 and gravely 8199 I'm looking for a sears 16/6
Very nice! 220 is a heck of a tractor I have a 302 cylinder head hanging under the engine on my diesel 220 because the front end was too lite using the wrecker bar. But lately I took the 6.2t out of my 85 c30 and a perkins T6.354.4 is in it now still working on it. Clark 5 speed and Spicer auxiliary trans too. Gonna be a towing machine
I worked on a lot of those tractors, the single cylinder engines were cast iron tecumseh's, and the twin cylinder engines were aluminum( cast iron bore) onan's, and the gear boxes were made by peerless , division of tecumseh. these units were well built, and easy to work on, and were designed to be repaired , not thrown away!!!!!
@@rodm5830 , there will not be any wiring diagrams on line, being back then ,everything was in printed form( tecumseh got out of the engine business before the internet took off). this engine was either points or solid state ignition. both styles were shut down by grounding the primary line. if you can get a hold of a repair manual on the single cylinder tecumseh engines, that information will be located in chapter 5 section 1. also, do not feed 12 volts to the ignition system, this will destroy all component parts of the ignition system.. I would be more than happy to step you through the problem, let me know if the engine has points/ solid state ignition
Thank you so much for this great video. Awesome info, pics and music too. I own two Sears tractors, a 76 st16 and 1979 20T and these pics really helped me with some detail I was missing. Greetings from Canada!
Looks just as dry there as it is here! I love them Massey Ferguson tractors just did a complete overhaul on my newly purchased Massey MF20 industrial loader tractor
Engine in that 4230 is shot, they are a little cold blooded I own two of them, but they are both low hours original but that is the worse one I've ever seen, definitely time for a in or out of frame rebuilt injectors and pump replacement
