I hope it is not inappropriate for me to make a comment since I am a 63 YO White man. I grew up in a predominantly Black rural area (I was often the only White kid on the school bus). In the 1960s and 1970s all my Black friends wore their hair in afros or cornrows. The only people I ever heard make disparaging remarks about 'natural hair' were other Black people. I never heard my White friends use phrases such as 'good hair' or 'bad hair' about Black hair, but Black people regularly did (and they teased me and said I had "White people hair." I think everyone should do whatever they want with their hair.
