Please stop contributing to ruining our wilderness by posting it online. People like you are ruining gem spots- taking away what they should be. Wild, unknown and pristine. I think you’re a fraud
I pick up garbage too as much as I can its amazing that lowlives make the effort to go all the way up to pristine places and clearly enjoy it and then just shit on it. I would imprison and punish ! if I had the power.
Awesome! Love Wind Lakes, it was one of my favorite backpacking trips I've done. It was cool to see the loop you hiked. I was wondering if that was doable. The veiws were great! That another camp spot you found at Wind Lakes was where we camp, and at twilight, a wolf walked around the lake and howled at us for an hour. Was amazing! I enjoyed the Tom Beal Park Trail it was great for our dogs with the multiple Creek crossings. Great Video! Thanks for sharing. Hike on!
How was the road getting there? It’s crazy we haven’t ran into each other yet as it seems like you always put out a vid in the general area I was just in! Would love some insight on when you think peak Larch season would be under El Capitan this year? I’m thinking October 5th?
Road wasn't too bad just a very long up. Oct5 could be right, seems like around 9k feet in the Bitterroot the larches are near peak, at least on Carlton ridge area
Thank you so much for posting the video! I've packed these mountains since the 1970s, but am now too old to get very deep in the wilderness. Such amazing beauty. Even your fantastic videography doesn't do it justice. Blessings! 😃
Honestly, up high, nothing is hard to follow even without a trail in the Wind River Range, it's not inundated with brush like the Bitterroot or Cascades lol. Very forgiving place for off trail travel as long as you aren't opposed to boulder hopping.
4:55 Started watching this again. Your comment on the road was spot on - that road won’t be repaired. I have a video of an overnighter I did to Humes Ranch. Near the end, I got a shot of the washout you showed here, not much of the road was gone by summer 2023. Who knows how much will be washed out if we get a La Niña winter.
I would come over a low ridge see a lake below me, and you could see fish rising. I'd get down there, and the fish were cruising in schools clockwise out from shore in easy casting distance. There were some very big rainbows. I tried everything in my flybox, walking along as they cruised, and couldn't interest them.
Man, I was there at same time. I was at Island Lake on Monday night and went through Titcomb and over Knapsack on Tuesday and camped on the east side of Peak Lake Tuesday night. Probably walked right past you Wednesday morning heading towards Shannon Pass. Would've loved to have met you. Love your videos!
That's an amazing loop! Titbomb Basin from Island Lake is one the most beautiful views I have ever had but overrun with people. Agree on thunderstorms at high elevation, the lightening feels so close.
Absolutely amazing! You two went places you really had no chance of other humans being around. Amazing. I’ll be out there in a few weeks but sticking to the beaten path. I cannot wait.
This brings back a lot of great memories and takes me back to a time when my knees didn’t hurt so much😉. We camped very near the waterfall at 27:00 and used the spray to cool off. Decided to follow it up to its source at Stroud glacier after dinner. Unworldly.
@@davidb1931 it takes longer to edit bigger backpacking trips and we are hanging with good friends who are moving away from montana to california. just finished a solo trip in the wind river
What a grounded trip. Authentic. True overlanding on foot and wild camping. What a breath of fresh air from "overlanding" --sitting in a climate-controlled box on wheels that has become the trend in Eastern Oregon.
Thank you for sharing! This is Epic!!! Any chance you have been by Elephant Lake (just East of Rainbow Lake)? I am hoping to knock it off the list next time.
Epic journey. I've been looking for someone to do at least and 4 day hike with me. I followed along with my map. Thanks. Hopefully find someone to do it with me.
