Welcome to my RU-vid channel, where I dive into the world of knives and share my passion for these indispensable tools with fellow collectors and users. My journey into the world of cutlery began over four decades ago when I started collecting knives, swords & other cutlery.
With over 50 years of experience as a martial arts practitioner and teacher, I have honed my understanding of the importance of precision and craftsmanship in every aspect of weaponry. As a professional advertising photographer, I have developed an eye for detail, allowing me to capture the essence of blades in stunning visuals.
I aim to provide in-depth and unbiased reviews of various knives, catering to both avid collectors and practical users alike. Whether you're a seasoned collector, an enthusiastic user, or just someone curious about the realm of cutlery, I invite you to subscribe. Let's share the excitement, knowledge, and joy that knives bring to our lives!
About the pricing, I think we've become a bit too spoiled, and consider it a tad more sane to approach this from the upper end. Rather than taking a cheap knife as basis for price expectations and going up from there, let's use your average just under 200 bucks M390 Ti framelock as basis and go down from there. The raw material price difference isn't too much when you buy in huge quantities directly from the sources (for example, the difference in material price M390 over 14C for a single blade is about 25 bucks when you buy a small sheet at your local knife store, that includes VAT, customs, small profit and god knows what else), and the difference in machining cost can't be too terrible either. Opportunity cost is probably higher than I'd expect because of difference in temper times between the steels (M390 suggested to go in for a second 2h treatment). Let's be generous and say the differences add up to 70 bucks, and hey, we end up in the ballpark of this new knife's current asking price. Considering the price history of this tier of Kubey knife at my dealer of choice it'll probably be on permanent sale sooner than you'd think, no clue what's going on with Kubey knives being constantly on sale on dealer's sites even when their own site shows full price. Generous MAP agreements to boost numbers sold to shops ?
Do you feel there is enough grip/blade guard to keep your hand from slipping forward when "opening boxes". I'm a big fan of his work, and have several. I'm eyeing this knife and the Assaucalypse compact
If you're looking for a handle that has more stops to prevent slippage then the contouring on the Assaucalypse would be superior. However, holding the silence slim in correct grips with proper training you shouldn't slip. And, the silence slim is a good deal lighter and somewhat smaller, should that matter. Literally roll it into the hand, or use the James Williams "Pommel in the Palm" method. If you look up his name you'll see some RU-vid videos with him demonstrating how to drive his Kwaiken through sheet metal without slipping and there is no guard.... Thanks for your interest and comment! 🗡️👍🗡️
@@OGBladeReviews Thanks for the info, You're my go-to YT Knife review site. I think we share the same taste and your reviews are very thoughtful and insightful , instead of flipping a knife open and closed 100 times
Look up at TKELL Knives on Agent 001 shows all specs: tkellknives.com/agent-001/?srsltid=AfmBOor1-DGskYSg9tW5KzWxDBaR0lFLRLV7cJ2NEw9z8a4htq-_BCxS Blade height is 0.89" 👍🗡️
I sure wish that had at least a minimal front flip option. I think it would like nice as well rounded over and jimped properly. Appreciate the thoughts and look around OG.
Sure thing. Yes, No opening options other than the button would work the way the lock is set up. They'd have to work it to have a detent and opened via either back flipper or thumb stud. That's why I showed the Civivi for comparison as they initially did the same thing but then changed it later....
440c has better edge retention than 14c , which I value more than toughness on a folding knife .......... 440c compiosition did changed its called 154cm. dont think those are thumbstuds do believe those are intended to be blade stop pins only. If they are going to be using the same materials as Ganzo does they better be down around the 20 dollar mark cause thats thier direct competitor.
Quick question to your knowledge does Twoson have direct website? Just trying to determine if everything must come through Amazon or dealer. Thank you.
TwoSun does not have a website, much to the chagrin of many of their loyal customers, unfortunately. Initially the only way to get one was through an eBay auction. More recently you can get them on Amazon but they still need to come on the slow boat from China, literally. Where I get all of mine these days, and really the past two or three years is White Mountain Knives. He typically has an inventory of at least a hundred in different models.... My discount code, OG-blade will get you 10% off!
A point well taken! In my view it gives the added function of choking up for detail work or point work when possible. It does certainly reduce the cutting edge but does provide a substantial grip. Like so many other nice features, manufacturers seem to be up for mixing and matching even when it may not make much sense.... 🗡️👍👊
Edge on this one still going strong after moderate daily use. Just stropped it a few times. The high hardness gang doesn't always account for edge geometry and bevel. Larrin has stated this. Link on my main channel page. 🗡️👍
Where did you hear that? Assume you're referencing HRC? My Viper blades have really held their edges quite well in the real world. Would like to know more about your info ...
Most informative review of this "Falcon" and appreciate your opinion on the pocket clip! For all the positives of the "Falcon", I am smitten by the "Cobra" you've placed along side and thank you for including the "Fintiso" website. Being a New Yorker, Amazon will not ship folders to the "Big Apple" and more and more knife reviewers are linking to Amazon along with discount codes. This hurts knife lovers in several states as well as retailers if certain knives or knife prices can only be purchased at Amazon.
I believe you'll see this brand soon at White Mountain, so no worries about Amazon, however that's where they provided me with the code so that's what I've got....
I purchased the CS Oyabun. I didn't like it. The handle is too small, and I couldn't access the liner lock. I returned it and purchased the CS Kobun based on your video review. The Kobun is absolutely 💯 amazing.
Just got one of these off blade binge in 3V with Carbon fiber scales I believe it's a Kaviso exclusive for $120 so I'll let call know how she is hope I didn't f up but seller says it's new unused but not in the box was part of a collection never cut anything and never carried hope this is all true and the ht was very good we shall see from the photos the scales on this carbon dodad are rounded and look very very good fingers crossed because there's no returns lol
A 8 to 10 inch crescent wrench is a great little club ,also small needle nose pliers are good for poking, both are pretty easy to make an excuse for having, your items😐not so much
So about the same dimensions as the Benchmade Griptilian. I have a couple of base model Grips. The 550 and the 551. Both also in S30V. I don't have a Hogue yet and my last handgun which I do miss was a P226. Maybe I need to look for one of these.
@@OGBladeReviews But that's ALL they have and Malibu are always sold out. Sooooo much more variety if they just sold manual versions of all of their autos!
