I’m glad you made this video. I’ve heard others say Avatar and especially this episode were “victim blaming,” but it’s clear it isn’t the case

I think a more cynical interpretation would be that Katara had not yet learned the lessons of war while Jet and Hama have learned those lessons too well. It was the Fire Nation that decided civilians were legitimate targets. Jet's family were killed despite not being part of the war, Hama's people village were wiped out and she was taken prisoner, the entire Air Nomad people were annihilated. The Fire Nation had already shown not only a willingness but a repeated pattern of wiping out civilians. The options for fighting them was rather limited. Either maintain the moral high ground up until you are killed to the last, or employ the tactics of your enemy and maybe have a small chance of survival. That's the unfortunate reality for the average Earth or Water Nation citizen who can't rely on a messianic figure to solve everything.

I have BPD, so I tend to relate to Bojack. It sent me down a spiral when I noticed how alike we are, especially because I knew what he was doing was hurting people. This show actually showed me that I've hurt people and that I need to be better from now on

I wanna push back on the "Rhiannon being in love with Olive makes more sense" bit. I think it doesn't matter how much she felt for Olive. What she did was bad. Friend or crush, you don't do that to people you care about.

I think the metoo movement in 2016 is also a big reason for recognizing ezria as wrong. As more women shared their stories of being groomed and predatory relationships, I think an entire generation became more aware of harmful tropes in media.

Some people don't realize just how far gone Hama would've been, not only did she see her fellow brothers and sisters captured/killed until she was the only one left but having to rot in that fire nation prison for DECADES. It's unthinkable to imagine how bad the conditions were in a prison of DRY AIR where they only got a handful of water to drink every day and had to be shackled just to not die of thirst. Ontop of that they had only that tiny metal box to live in, no bed, no belongings, no toilets, no showers, nothing. Even 3rd world african countries have over-crowded prisons with better living conditions. So, yeah, honestly I don't blame Hama for going into the deep end and trying to genocide fire nation citizens especially since from her pov it's their country that genocided the southern water tribe in the first place.

I wanted to bring up, and I'm only up to the witch allusions... 2 page, but Katara and Hama mirror each other in their hairstyles. I found it interesting, looking back on it now. Not many fire nation women have their hair like that btw. And... Idk if Katara's mother Kya also had a similar hairstyle, but I think you could draw even a parallel to the Maiden, Mother, Crone trope. Katara, the Maiden, Kya the Mother, and Hama the Crone.

The puppet master is my favorite avatar episode. Hama is such a good character. When she first appeared, the fact toph couldn’t feel her approach and her general creepy appearance made me think she wa some kind of spirit. Sokka’s suspicion of her I felt supported that, then it was revealed she was a not only from the southern water tribe but also a water bender and offered to teach katara. That scene made me lose all suspicion of her. In fact the bit about people disappearing every full moon made me feel like she would be the next victim. But that whole scene where she reveals she is a blood bender and he right with katara was such a shock to younger me. It was all just done beautifully, I felt like I was tricked twice and I loved that about the episode. The fight between katara and Hama was also just so beautiful, it’s the first time since the end of book 1 that two water benders fought. Everything about it was *chefs kiss* from seeing how two master water benders go at it, and katara utilizing earth bending techniques. Ahh I still gush about it today

kinda crazy how the next bloodbenders after Hama - Amon and Tarrlok also fell under the curse of repeating abuse they endured, even though they did everything in their power to become something different from their abusive father which ultimately led to them becoming exactly like him and then killing themselves after they realized what they have become

Script lengths is perfect :) It always fascinates me how we can overlook some story themes when we were younger. As seeing it as an adult or someone explain the themes to you, you can truly appreciate how amazingly well made the show really is. Really feels like u r a veteran in writing scripts as it was very done cannot imagine how many rewrites and retakes you did.

There is a part of me that wishes Katara could have come back to bloodbending for physical healing purposes. I think that would have been a good way for her to heal emotionally from the hurt of Hama. I’m glad it was brought back up in Korra but I would have liked to see more of it. I like that each element has aspects of life and death

When I first watched this show, it terrified me to the core, because I saw myself in Bojack and I hated that. Season 6 changed me forever. Bojack went to rehab, and that was the push I needed to properly get help. Bojack going to rehab made me so happy and proud of him. The last few episodes though, really made me think. I never really looked into what the creators said about the show and thought, but this video makes me understand a bit better I think.

Intuition is more supernatural.. I never experienced the thing what was coming but I knew something horrible would happened.. There's also that u can train to to tell whats where like a game of guess but u must listen to ur intuition. For example where is a figurine, tealight n a flower.. u can also play by putting something in a box n switch places as other person trying to guess what's in the box. Whatever u say tho.. quantum physics energy stuff is very lil understood yet results seem to be working yet they don't wanna public just like the big bang didn't happen by itself coz need something to react to create.. eh.. going too deep again..
@OriginalMariAnnaWolf
@OriginalMariAnnaWolf 2 дня назад
As for witches witches.. they did do as I said the the healing n stuff. They knew more like druid's one with nature. Nature can heal, but do harm too. Just like a knife, u can cook or commit crimes. Voodoo was made up by Holywood. The actual name.. dollies or poppets coz u know that's what they called dolls back then? If someone was too sick to go to be healed someone gave the part what we call correspondence to the person n acuret healing herbs n stuff. Pins used to get in that energy where need healing n pushed healing energy in that place through the pin. There is so much u don't know about even now a days witches magick practitioner's. Witches are also so called psychics too so there.. There's lot to learn, but everyone just love to think its only a woman that is like an alien n evil.. that's not folklore, but a fantasy ppl made. They were misunderstood at somepoint n others used fear to tell.. for example..ur neighbour have too much money n u hate them, so u say witch! How can be so rich! Just to get rid of them.. just example.. I would ramble forever, but I hope someone found my comments interesting to learn.
@OriginalMariAnnaWolf

The witches were first called "cunning man" n "wise women" that knew their nature making remedies like pharmacist.. Well.. natural one making healing teas of herbs n stuff.. I hate how this knowledge is forgotten n just ppls paranoia took over..

something that always made me emotional was that Hama did ultimately get her way by forcing Katara's hand, and you can see how used, dirty and hurt it makes Katara feel right there in the episode. She made her use blood bending. she passed the technique on. She "won".

9:00 while for most of medieval times witches were executed normally but buried in special ways to keep them from rising. Burning however was mostly reserved for heretics.
