Hello There! My name is Joe and I am a Florida grown avid fisherman. Currently I am serving in the United States Marine Corps and have spent the majority of my time being in Okinawa Japan. I have always had an avid love for the water and spend any time I can learning and honing my fishing skills. I started out fishing from shore on beaches and under roadways. From there I advanced to fishing from boats and diving in and spearfishing. Over time however I learned that the real hook for me was fishing from a Kayak. I have been through two other kayaks before I finally ended up with my current one as I continue to learn what I need and feel most comfortable in. I love to bring in new fisherman and teach them everything I have learned over my years of fishing.

I just installed this same Cobra slip on for my Stryker. I knew it came with a baffle from all the reviews I have seen but when I fired it up for the first time I knew instantly that it came straight piped.. the only "baffle" is a bunch of half quarter looking things along the inside of the tube that I can not remove. Did Cobra change the design?
time for!!!! heat shrink wrapped kevlar kayak condom😎 I doubt if anything will " stick" beside blended molten plastic. plastic weld is possible but since it isnt fractured just scuffed it's an ugly bandaid on a scar👍🏼😎✌🏼happy holidaze
Hi Oki ... Just found your channel, Keep up with the awesome footage and information. ... I know that you have updated to the new Slayer Max 12.5, but how did you like working the Slayer 13 offshore? For someone who wants to get into offshore kayak fishing, will you recommend the Slayer 13 or drop the extra $1500 AUD (price difference in Australia) and purchase the Slayer Max 12.5?
Thanks! I really do need to start filming again... To your question, both are amazing kayaks. For the slayer 13 I found that there was about 6 inches of wasted space, unless I got up and turned around I couldn't reach the very back. However, it had great stability and cut through the water well. As for the max.. Well everything I wanted came standard. The new hull design complete with transducer mount, more convenient layout, rails everywhere, and the 6 inch decrease made everything reachable. I'll say, now having the max, I never want to sit in another kayak.. I think look at what you want your kayak to look like after you put in your crate, fish finder, cooler, rods, etc.. And see which one fits your idea better. I would recommend the max, but it sounds like a lot extra, and that money could go into a lot of upgrades.. You won't be disappointed with either.
@@OkiGulz ... Thank you so much for your reply and your input. Yes please, more RU-vid Videos. Which yak, Slayer 13 or Slayer Max 12.5, did you find dryer?
No answer will be the right answer there.. First off the native slayers have a deeper sitting well than most, so unless your insanely light water will always flow into the kayak even with scuppers in because they sit below the water line. Then there's the manafacturing variables, if there isn't a tight seal on the scupper it'll leak, but to answer the question the best I can, my max has been dryer than my Propel was.
Great job using Flex Tape to fix your kayak! As far as Flex Seal Liquid goes, some plasticized and rubberized surfaces may resist adhesion. We always recommend testing a small area first. Feel free to email us and we can try and turn that experience around for you. 👉 humans@flexsealproducts.com
Hello!! Great video! I’m thinking of getting this model. Seems to be a great boat. Personal question.... the tattoo on the inside of your wrist looks like the adoption symbol. Is that what it is?
@@OkiGulz thanks!! I think that’s the boat for me! And if you search for adoption symbol you’d see it looks very similar. Again.... thanks for the review!
Every spot is great! Just be mindful of locals and stay respectful. No need for license and look into local guidelines as they change occasionally about what you can harvest. Check out Yakinawa on Facebook, that's my guys still out there.
I use a bed extender on my truck. You could car top it if you stripped it down slick every time, but it's heavy. I would recommend a trailer or bed extender, you'll thank yourself in the long run.
I'm not sure. I've never been in a OTP, but they're definitely growing in popularity so they must be doing something right! Specification wise they're similar, not sure on price. My recommendation would be to sit in each and see what fits best. Only advice would be to think of future upgrades, cause your going to want some.. Think, where will I mount the fish finder, anchor trolley, cooler or catch bag, net, crate, tackle.. all these things influence my kayak buying. Hope it helps!
Great overview, thanks. I think the drybag component back buy the rudder is actually there because they wanted to give us a way to access the inside of the kayak in the back (nice if you want to mount a power pole). Since they had to make a hole, they decided to make it functional with a storage bag.
My gopros are also old and beat up from saltwater. Experimenting with other options before I put up new videos. As for the titan, I think it depends on your style. I feel the max is a little more versatile for all types of fishing whereas the town is more of a freshwater platform. I feel the wider end would be a little more troublesome in currents, just my thoughts though, any native is better than any other yak in my opinion!
Thanks for the review. Looking to possibly get this or the titan 12. Currently I have a Bonafide that I love. As a bigger guy, I leave my scupper plugs in when I'm using my motor as my battery and motor add a good bit of weight. The plugs from yak attack work amazingly well and keep everything dry.
Nice rig! I'm coming from a boat and don't own a kayak yet. I really like the slayer and titan series. Totally want a PDL setup like this. Do the scupper plugs always have to be out on a kayak or just when you take on water in the hull?
You can leave them in but water will inevitably get in the yak. With the scupper plugs out water will free flow in and out, other wise you have to get it out yourself.
Sometimes... if it's colder out staying dry is preferred, but when it's hot it doesn't matter. Your weight has a lot to do with it too.. I'm 205lbs and I always have about an 1/2 if water in the front by my feet.
@@OkiGulz Man, I really love the Slayer and Titan but I don't know about having water right there at my feet all the time. I'm about 250lb and I can't imagine how much water I'd have if I bought one of these.
You can leave the scuppers in. Mine stays dry till I start bringing fish in the yak then I get to sponge or pump the excess water out. If your careful you could probably keep it pretty dry, it's just not an issue for me so I don't mind it
Very nice setup! Did you need any adapters to attach the C-Tug tires to the Sidekick arms? Was thinking about going with the Boonedox Groovy landing gear because I saw that they offered a standard fitment with the C-Tug tires. You are the first person I've come across who is using the C-Tug tires with the Sidekick.
Not at all! They fit perfectly right outta the box! Only after purchase is new cotter pins because the wheel base is different you need a longer pin to lock it.
@@sangwna i don't.. just longer than the stock ones. The stock ones are long enough but you can't get the lock over.. could possibly just Redrill the pin and add a bent pin also..
Absolutely! Definitely recommend a sit on top kayak, pedal driven, and at least 12ft. There are days where the water is like glass and stone rough days, but remember Okinawa itself is a coral island so heavy currents and surge can appear anytime regardless of projected weather. Definitely get it before you head over because there are not many options there. Also look at getting a vhf hand held radio and any other electronics you may want. There's plenty of fishing stuff there, but kayak accessories and English friendly products usually have to be ordered through Amazon.
Good to see you found a nice quiet neighbourhood to live in! Love the boat mate, you shouldn't be needing to upgrade for quite a while. Good to see the Yakinawa flag flying proud!
Great set-up! Love the latch system in the front and the indexer for a propeller. GT reminder is a nice touch personal touch. So much usable storage under your seat. #Yakinawa
hey man i been subbed for awhile now i love the channel. I just got Okinawa yesterday Im stationed at Kadena, what fishing and tackle shops do you recommend around here? definitely looking into getting in the fishing scene here.
, use a house iron, iron out scratches. For deep gouges, cracks and holes I use JB Weld marine epoxy. It's amazing product and is much harder than the actual polyethylene kayak material when it cures.
Tons of places to launch, just need to be respectful of locals. Many beach fronts are someone's back yard. I'm still here for another month, then I need to get off island for a bit. Next videos will be in the Virginia bays!
Question, i see you live in base housing. Where do you store your kayak? I’m getting ready to report to Oki and am bringing a 13.5 old town with me. Thanks for any help you can offer.
I kept mine on the car most of the time. If I took it down I had it on a couple of kayak stands on the back porch. Bring a marine handheld radio with you, they're hard to get here. I can hook you up with my club yakinawa, great group of yak fisherman
They do! However it's pretty limited and expensive because they're imports. I'd recommend getting one in the states and bringing it with you if you can. Also, check out the yard sale sites on Facebook for Okinawa, they have them on sale occasionally..
@@OkiGulz Are you still out there? I'm going to need a fishing buddy! I only spearfished when I was there last and want to try and catch everything I speared on rod/reel.
None! Pole fishing is fair game, coral trout and tusk fish are the only two fish with size limits but it's pretty small, smaller than you'd want to keep anyway.. there's a lot if fish union areas Ann's they generally frown on you using their boat ramps. Be polite, don't leave a mess, and try to stay low profile and you can pretty much go anywhere.
No. I would occasionally get a backfire though, or a loud pop. Either way the 2 to 1 pipe was short lived. I replaced the whole system with a freedom performs exhaust.
