You deserve a load more views for this video Daibhidh - there's some nice pike showing up 👍👍 I don't think I'd have the courage to fish a lure that size in freshwater but it certainly paid off for you! Is that stretch generally fishable for pike outside salmon season (i.e. without being chased by the keeper)? I've wondered about it before but never seen much online. Cheers, Doug
I think my lack of posting regular has put me in the bad books of the RU-vid algorithm doug! I used to work in this particular estate , filmed these days before my employment ended. The pike had certainly seen to the numbers of salmon on this particular stretch of water but there were serious efforts being made to restock them. We did give out permits when I worked there but unsure what the situation is now, I can’t even find the website!
Good to see you back, it's been a tad slower this year. Some good fishing in March last year on the hill lochs, this year's been a bit different never managed a good session until yesterday. Tight lines mate, hope you have a great season 👍
Yes I would agree that it was a slower march, seems to be opening up now though(weather wise) I’ll have to get out soon to test that out though! Nice to hear from you again! Tight lines!
Good to see you back.. I was on the lough 3 march here in Donegal wasn't the worst day took one fish on a fly tied by myself had a brew fished a while longer missed a strike and away home.. Well done looking forward to more of your adventures .
The wee fish here was the only one i saw or felt all day, I was at this same loch a couple of times last week and I had a lot more Interest fishing some smaller dry flies, which I took as a good sign!

I was delighted to catch a wee one on opening day myself though not on a dry. Blanked today though, colder than last week here in southern Scotland with fresh snow on the hilltops. Tight lines to yourself for the season. Brian
Hi Brian I was out last week, I wasn’t at this loch but I fished a sinking line and had more success, although it was a nicer day, and I’ve just been out at this loch again a couple of times in the last few days and I was seeing much more interest in both dry and wet flies, so I took that as a sign that things are starting to happen in some capacity! Tight lines for this year,

@@DaibhidhBiy I used to fly fish for them on local trout waters, the take is electric!! Now you've mentioned it may bring the kit with me, we're staying on your local canal, could be worth a try perhaps?
I snapped my old one this year on the very last day trying to pull it out of some Heather, but I luckily dug an old one out the cupboard which should do my this year at least!
My wife and I spend 3 weeks each year fishing on the west of the Scottish Highlands for brown and sea trout we miss the fishing and Scotland so very much. Many thanks for keeping us in touch through the dark months

Great video of a great trout m8!!!! I have learned a "little trick" from my eastern European friends when using Mackrel as bait. I cut it into ( tad oversized ) slices, put a doubled up newspaper in a plastic bag, put the slices on and use a fair amount of table salt on them, put this in the fridge over night and the salt will take the water out but leave the oils in the bait. This will make the baits last for a lot longer, make them a lot more "sturdy", easier to bait and not fall apart on the second or third day of fishing. Then afterwards oyu can freeze the leftover bait for later use.
