Hi, we are Garex Desing studio limited. Based in the UK, we work with vinyl decals and printers. This is where we share our thoughts, tips and suggestions on all things business related.
In the x2 CMYK configuration, the machine pulls ink from only 4 cartridges at a time. It depends on the chip, what cartredge is selected, every time. The point of having 8 slots populated, even with 4 blanks, is to prevent air from getting int othe system and so on.
Good question. That would require me(or the person doing) knowing that in the machine of this kind has valves that prevent the inks from being drained in the first place, second, knowing how to access service menu, thirs, knowing what and how to select in there to open just the right gate for the inks to be able to flow. In short, this is a more simplified way of DIY if you'd like.
I'm sorry mate. As I've left the project, I had no time on working on this. It is a shame as I've invited an anctual Mimaki engineer who part-made this model to help me out.
Well, I'm a bad example. Being an IT engineer, I more or less understood the whole concept. It is a printer just bigger. That being said. The core basics, about a week. Fine-tuning, still learning, there is always something.
I am just beginning with a printer cutter, but I have been working on a plotter for almost 2 years now. I just only want to buy once! Ya know? But I want to prepare for the future, as well. I was trying to decide between a Roland BN20A and a Mimaki CJV150-75. Also, thank you for teaching me so much!
@@OffTheTrailEasyMeals I'd not touch BN20 with a 10 ft pole, but it is just me. CJV150 should be a solid machine to do it all. 75 is also the smallest they do and should be plenty for canvas, stickers and even some banners.
It happend to me today 😢 got ripped off with the same problem like you have with the cameo 3 but i bought the cameo 4 and i want to ask if you maybe know if the usb port you replaced is the same one like the cameo 4? Looking forward to your reply
@@GDS-LTDподскажите пожалуйста, у меня принтер царапает глянцевую бумагу при захвате. Пробег у принтера 1500/l805. Что можно сделать что бы это исправить, только ролик менять?
@@ginod2279 The only thing I know called "flexi" is software, FlexiSign. As far as the UV vs Solvent inks, they(UV inks) technically are a bit less stretchy, but I've yet to hear a problem with that. The only thing that comes to my mind when I hear cracks is wrong profile, oversaturation. And even that in the extreme cases. That is if we do not speak of unverified 3rd party inks of either technology, then sure, anything is possible.
Thank you, I really appreciate the tutorial on how to differentiate machines. I'm just in the process of looking for a printer cutter and was originally looking at Roland but I think I may be going with a Mimaki if they have a distributor closer.
In general, any branded tape or paper will do. However, you might want to experiment what works best for you. You'll most likely find that in-house production will tend towards paper and for the application by the end user, who, in general, have less experience, tape rather than paper will be favoured. In sinple words, buy something of ebay, unbranded, the cheapest you cna get and also get yourself DeTape for example, compare the two on the same items and you'll know what you want/need stright away.
The new lights are going to save you a lot of money. Nice thing about this channel is it shows a lot of the parts of running a small business that other channels don't bother with. Nice vid. Thanks
We had an issue with a mural we made for a customer for $450 USD. The customer approved the proof and we have evidence by email and by Etsy chat they approved the proof. The customer did not deny they approved the proof in the dispute chat and Etsy gave them a refund “because the customer stated that’s not what they ordered”. So your case was not that bad lol we lost $450 dollars. BTW, issue was because customer ordered a size from our listing but when we measured the design file it was different, so we sent them the proof with the correct proportional measurements.
Isn't it odd that out of 100s of orders a month with royal mail, when anything goes missing the only ones you ever gat sent back to the return address are international. Nothing UK ever gets returned. I gave up on etsy, too much international and barely any domestic sales. They want you to prove you shipped the item, fair enough. But once you have paid for and printed the postage why on earth *wouldn't* you send it? Too many hoops to jump through. Domestic low value INR claims I can live with, International postage makes it barely worthwhile shipping low value items that are not worth paying extra for tracking. It is all fun and games, isn't it.
It is a market and simply shutting it down makes no sense for us(or anyone IMHO). Instead, what I like to do is make it worth the time and effort and therefore this is a problem and finding a solution for it is always a good thing and fun, besides the rest. For example, we do not provide any untracked postage abroad at all. It costs £3? Tha'll be £9.50 on tracked post and another £2 on supplies and time compensation. Take it or leae it, simple. Original price holds all of the other insurances and the <1% of the rest is the trading fee if you will.
Nice interesting vid. Pretty much spot on as far as I'm concerned after 27 years previously using air tools in a similar job. Nice to see you back with another video, seems a long time since the last one. Quality over quantity 👍
I have watched all of your videos and remember the one where you bought a cutter and just one roll of vinyl some 2 years ago so find it really interesting to hear that you are expanding your business with a lot more space and doing well. My space is 8x9 feet (2.4x2.7metre) in which I have a desk, pc tower with 5 monitors, TV, 2 printers, label printer, cameo 3, cameo 4, heat press also all of my supplies of vinyl, t-shirts and packaging. Good luck for the future and keep on growing your business.
Thanks Mike. In the original intro that I somehow lost, I also shared that on June 5th we've celebrated 3 years from the incoporation of GDS. If it would be up to me, I'd stay in a bedroom forever. </3 Commercial space speculations. Like for converting to usable measuring units.
@@1safariman metallic foil, toner reactive foil for stickers. laser print on then run through a hot foil "laminator" type machine. good process once you get the right foils and a laminator or foil machine that can maintain 160-170 degrees.
For anyone cleaning a printhead like this, also be sure to clean the capping station just as well as the print head. If the capping station is dirty or out of place or getting stuck to the head then you get a lot of clogs like this. The capping station is really important in keeping the head clean and flowing with ink.
11+ year Mimaki field technician here. Sorry you seemed to have fought so much with your printer. I don't know what began your issue with the black channel but I can tell you you were at least on the right track. As you probably already know, the same ink lines feed all 4 channels for each color. So in the case of the black, all 4 are being fed by the same ink lines coming from the cartridges. So if only one channel isn't working but everything else is then of course it has to be something specific with that channel. While it's always good practice to replace your caps and pumps (OE if you can) I don't believe that was your issue here. The damper was a good start BUT if it was working before an ink change (I think that's what you said in part 1) then the likely hood of a damper being a fault are low. What has likely taken place is air in the lines still. The 300 series, because the way all of the lines split off, is a bit of a pain to get out. It's actually easier to manually bleed the air out. Once you know the air is out then you can do an ink fill up. Drain the dampers out completely before you do so, especially for the middle dampers because you cant see them. Once the ink fill is done you can check the damper to see if theres ink in it. If so, you know your have proper priming. If it's still not firing it's likely the head. If there isn't much ink or no ink in the damper then you likely have an air leak at the damper.
Hello I’m currently having an issue with my JV150-160 that’s similar but different very slightly. Is their any way I could grab a quick consult. Happy to send you some funds as well
@@imagegraphics16 It was a combination of several things. Changing dampers, not just a damper is a good call. Be cautious of non original dampers. On some occasions they do not form a tight seal and leak the inks onto your printhead.
@@imagegraphics16 i have use aliexpress damper for 3 years the pressure wasnt good , so i change the damper and did a normal fill up ink and everything came back to normal :)
