In the preamble before he performs this song he mentions that in his version of the song, the narrator is not sure whether he wants everyone at his house. He says he finds it profound that although not one lyric or melody changed, in the Detroit version it is a happy song of inclusion. He then says, in an apologetic tone, that the audience is going to get his version, "because I am what I am." The audience then laughs, cheers and applauds. David's face is genuine confusion, and he says "I don't know how to take that applause" And as an autistic, this is why I love David Byrne.
