My 40 year old '85 V65 pulled 125 mph on the freeway last month, like it was still new. Guy in an '88 Vette said, "Nice bike, dude!" I've been through master cylinders, a complete exhaust repair, shocks, and front brakes. Gets about 40mpg, still.

So many wrecks with those over powered death traps back when. Frames would actually flex and weaken due to the excess power and sometimes would fail while in use.

Hey jerk! its not a dirt bike. Why dont you fix the propper exaust (oriiginal exaust sound beautiful on these bikes) and keep it on the street.

been thinking about this for a long time! On both my 87 and 97 I am pretty cramped with longer than normal legs. I am trying a seat adjustment first though as I found a cheap way to make the seat taller.

Big difference between 1800 and the 1300 weight 1300 1800s about 100 lb heavier unless you're writing style is cruising interstates the 1300 will be fine one thing you should do is replace a neck bearings with all ball bearings

I bought a 2004 VTX 1300C as my first bike 3 years ago. At the time it was a one owner with 19K miles on it. I'm sort of a big guy (5'11", 250 lbs.) and I wanted to get a decent bike that was low maintenance and affordable. I was hesitant because it's not a small bike by any means, but I didn't want to get something too small that I would outgrow in a year. This bike pleasantly fills the bill and looks and sounds great. I get compliments on it all the time, and it's pretty much stock (the seat was changed to a mustang and is a bit more comfortable, and the headlight was upgraded to LED). I change the fluids and I had to put a new battery in this summer, but other than that I have not had to do anything major. I may have to do the brake pads soon, but that too is just normal maintenance. This bike is so much fun to ride. I prefer cruising the back roads as opposed to highways, but that's because I ride with no windshield. 60-65 mph is very comfortable... above that you can get some wind buffeting, but I very much like the feeling of the wind in my face. I wear a half (actually 3/4) helmet when cruising, and a full helmet when i will be on the highway. The bike starts up right away. You have to let it idle for a few minutes to get her warmed up, but after that she's ready to roll. As stated earlier, I'm a newer rider, but this bike fits me like a glove and I have no issues when I need to merge onto a roadway or jump on the throttle to pass someone. At some point I may get a touring bike - I'm 59 and may retire soon and would love to travel a little more on two wheels, but I will always keep this bike as a daily rider. Honda hit it out of the park with this bike.

There’s nothing like a V twin, except a V4,2X the power. My fav is my Honda CTX1300!, I cruse around town with my third gen Magna as well. I rode one of those and it is a great bike. Just not enough acceleration for me.

just got one of these for free at work. it was sitting out back of the shop for 15 years or something. it's pretty sunbaked but i want to get it running again and set it up as an adventure bike but keep all of the original hard to find pieces. i saw one in a forum done up that way, taller and on some dirt worthy rubbers. anyone got any advice?
@TylerChaseMotors
@TylerChaseMotors 15 дней назад
They’re complicated compared to “normal” street bikes. It’ll take some time to test and clean everything but the engine is fantastic. Your main first task will be getting the fuel system straightened out. If you are not comfortable pulling all the carbs apart you can just take the assembly out and send it to a guy called MagnAndy on the v4 muscle bike forum. Good luck!

Cool video. Definitely keep the magna. Blowing away sport bikes is just the best feeling. Those dudes actually get really pissed when you smoke them. Then when you tell them how old the bike is, now you got to run because they want to kick your ass. Love the channel and keep um coming!!!!

Yup you got it just like I did, the magna fever. Magna's when they initially came out were the fastest production bikes in their classes in the world. Tough to sell it isn't it??? Hope you enjoy it and stay safe riding!!!!

Yup the shadow is fun to ride. Absolutely those bikes were so small and cramped. I'm 6'1" myself and I know how you feel and look on a shadow. Nice first bike definitely. The Magna V-45 and V-65 are totally the master of the shadow. You should turn a nice profit from this bike definitely. Keep um coming, loving the channel!!!!

@davidbeaver39 24 дня назад
Nice video and super easy to get this shadow up and running. Yes i have had a shadow also, but truthfully with the V-65 magna in the stable, we know who is the master of that shadow. I didn't catch what year that shadow was and im thinking its probably a 500cc model??? Really enjoying the channel. Hope you are turning these bikes over and cashing in nicely!!!!

Great video, enjoying your content. Looks like we have similar taste in bikes. My first was a Honda V-45 from 1984, next was a 2007 Honda VTX1300r. The VTX is absolutely an incredible bike and so friggin easy to work on. Careful not to fall in love with this one it will grow on you fast and before you know it 10 years will go by and you are still riding the VTX1300. Cool video, but like I commented on the V-65 video, maybe more in depth when tearing down and reassembling parts??? Looks like you are on your way to a very informative and entertaining channel. Keep the videos coming loving it, so far!!!!
@davidbeaver39
@davidbeaver39 24 дня назад
Nice video, maybe if possible put in some of the tearing down the carbs and other footage. You might think a lot of the video you shot is boring, but the mechanical viewers love that stuff. My first bike was a 1984 Honda magna V-45. Magna's are definitely legends. Like your video style and just want more detail. Keep it up I think you can definitely be a RU-vid giant if you want to be. Looking forward to seeing more about this magna and hopefully others. Good stuff, good luck!!!!

You did a good job sticking with it and getting it running. I owned an '85 V-65 Sabre for 10 years, it was in near perfect shape, and ran like a beast ! Someday soon you will have that set of carbs that does not need removed 10 times, cuz you will get better every time you work on bikes :)

I've been watching your videos on this racing mower. They're great and informative. I've learned from your successes and mistakes. I especially appreciate that one statement you make at 2:41 about how these engines are meant to run with their governor so you're not going to put a pedal. I have a six speed Craftsman LT3000 w/o a deck 20hp B&S Intek. I figured I could use it to pull a small trailer for hauling stuff around the yard. I wanted to put a pedal, and searched for ways to convert it. I couldn't find any videos that thoroughly explained. I increased the speed a bit by swapping a pulley, but not for racing. I think I'll abstain from adding a throttle pedal since I'm only going to use it for pulling a small trailer. I know you said you're going to put a throttle pedal. I'm hoping you put a detailed video of how you do it. You're videos helped! Thanks! BTW Subscribed!
