Keen Aussie Zwifter (Cat D ... heaviest, weakest, riders) since 2021. Old, overweight, bulging discs, arthritic knees ... ultimate combination, thanks to Cricket and Basketball.
I record rides (OBS) to study and improve, and happy for anyone to use them for Zwift route reconnaissance or tactics: www.youtube.com/@michaelnelson1089/videos.
Zwift setup (April 2024): - Wahoo Kickr Bike Shift … (quiet, easy to share with others, but … unrealistic feel) - SRAM eTap, 32T x 10-44T 13-Speed … (good for knees, not sprinting) - Zwift Ultra 1440 (Nvidia GTX 1050TI 4GB OC, Intel Core i5-6400 2.7GHz) @ 50fps ... (Ultra profile is amazing!) - Polar H10 HRM ... (reliable, except when battery dies) - ERGO3 Mid-foot cleat adapters ... (for arthritic knees!) - In the study with the windows open … (and an industrial fan!)
Some results: - Zwift TT Club, March 2024, Series 10: 🥇 - Zwift Insider Tiny Races Z3: March 2024: 🥇🥇🥇 (have won a few other times, but this was three weeks in a row)
New race score seems about right, assuming this group has a mix of D and C riders: - 3 months ago I was top of D, mid C - been injured and riding less, now somewhere in top half of D - coming at the front of the second group seems about right (top half finish ... just) - my seed score barely changed (320-something)
I doubt being sick had much impact. Probably an excuse. I reckon it’s more lack of fitness on the long rides. We will have to wait and see what happens with the series!
Ha. No. I have arthritic knees and need to reduce resistance. I’ll take that as a compliment. I also increase rpm on climbs for the same reason. Feel free to look at all my other rides for similar rpm. I aim for 90+rpm on flats, and higher on climbs. I also find that mid-foot cleats reduce the load on my knees.
Nice video. It is especially interesting without narration. It was fun to see myself in someone else's video (I am in the Bike & Beer kit) but was pretty tired for this set since I had done Zone 1 and Zone 2 already that day. I identify with your assessment of Cat D as the heaviest, weakest, riders and aspire to do my part to keep it that way! Keep up the good work and maybe see you at another Tiny Race soon.
Hey Tim! Yes I recognise your name and remember you. Wow you did all three zones! Not really an option where I am - zone 2 is 2am! See you sometime in the future.
@@michaelnelson1089 , yeah, it was 3am, 9am and 3pm here in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA. Just enough time to nap and refuel between zones. Tough day, but loads of fun!
You are hard core. You’re the second zwifter this week to tell me about middle of the night zwifting. You’re more committed than I am, and I thought I was pretty committed!
