To me, this album tells the story of Outer Wilds from the Prisoner's perspective. Curiosity for what the Eye could be, intrigue for what following it could bring, dismay from the decision to block out the Eye entirely, hope for what setting free the signal could mean, dejection from being imprisoned, and lastly, just barely audible above the sadness and confusion, proof that the decision made an immeasurably long time ago was not for nothing.
The Lost Reels is an unbelievably beautiful gift to the Outer Wilds community. The fact that it exists continues to amaze me. We are so lucky to have it. Thank you Andrew. Thank you Mobius Digital.
“Spirit of Light” may also be an appropriate name! It sounds like light refracting off water…so is the water or the light the focus? Is there a difference?? So beautiful. Andrew, you capture glory and quiet intimacy in this piece. Such wonderful attributes of truth.
ah yea that's awesome! I ended up naming it the spirit of water because it's technically a re-orchestration of the sound of water where I changed the synths & guitars to strings.
I hope Outer Wilds gets a sequel or at least the devs make more content like it just so I can enjoy more of your music. Paired with that kind of gameplay it really hits different.
Andrew knocked the soundtrack for OW out of the park. Im storyboarding a spiritual sequel to it, as daunting as it is to expand on the greatest game of all time and space.
Omg actually good footage! Could you perhaps upload the spirit of water next? It's my favorite song ever The guitar at the start of river's end times also speaks to me. I love it
I would be glad to lose 22 minutes of my life for every song I could hear by you in person. The Spirit of Water and especially Older Than the Universe would be so unbelievably beautiful to hear an orchestra play
Being in the front during that concert and seeing you concentrate was such a WONDERFUL experience. I can't wait for another opportunity to see you live!!!! 💖💖
DAWG this is NUTS! makes me shiver every time I hear any of the music. This song especially. Thank you for creating the soundtrack to such an amazing game and my drives to and from college.
In floods of tears listening to this tonight, reminded of the wonder of playing and the sweet sadness of knowing I'll never get those moments back. Thank you, Andrew, for the beautiful music.
When Atrioc started his Outer Wilds playthrough and heard the Timber Hearth theme for the first time he said to his chat: "Wait, is this game just gonna be an 8/10 but with amazing music?" Turns out it was a 10/10 with amazing music! Thank you for all of it :)
I like to think that every sound, every note just made up for anything the game was lacking. It has built entire universe far beyond the capability of our moder hardware. If there's anything more powerful than that, its our imagination, and your compositions have beautifuly bent it to the follow the game concept. Thank you Andrew, you are the best!
