Enjoyed your adventure. At aged 86 I can only enjoy your experience on my exercise bike.in Scotland at the moment and will follow your current journey. Graham Smith
Another quality video and thanks for sharing Alan. 👌 Your eyes took on that haunted look at Scarborough that only those of us who’ve ridden Audax type miles will understand! 🥱😴 As for your front brake, do you know a good bike mechanic? 😉😁 Keep ‘em coming mate and thanks again.
Thanks so very much! Yeah - it was a tough cookie this one. Type two fun in places and type one too. I now have Hope brakes as I blame the guy who didn’t service the old brakes enough 😂😂 Thanks for watching. I’ve been having a bit of a break whilst I’ve been training for the HT550 for this year. 😀
You, Sir, are a natural storyteller... or a very well practised one. Either way, this is the only 30min+ indy video that's ever held my attention on RU-vid - immensely enjoyable and inspiring. I took notes throughout, and will now be taking a spare derailleur hanger with me!!! Congratulations on an awe inspiring ride and an equally awesome video. You guys rock!!!
Hi there! Thank you so much for your incredibly kind feedback. It’s amazing to hear that you stuck around for the whole thing and that you enjoyed it as much as you did. Thank you for discovering this edit. 🤩
Hello, Awesome video! I will spend 2 weeks in Iceland at the end of July. I will hike the Laugavegur trail (4-5 days) and will also bring my gravel bike but I doubt I will about to do your route since some part already looks rough on a mtb. Do you think it's feasible and could you share your route map? Thanks
Hi! Thank to so very much for watching. I’m pleased you enjoyed it! Your trip sounds incredible! Your gravel bike will be faster on the smoother sections, but easier to push / carry when it’s too rough. If the gravel bike is the only bike you have, just take it as not every section is rideable anyway. I’m more than happy to share the route with you, send me a message on Instagram and I’ll send you a WeTransfer link :) Thanks again, Allen.
Hey! I’ve just changed and bought a Garmin 540 solar. Non touch screen. For now, it appears to work rather well. Only charged the battery from 40% to 80% on day 4. Pretty decent!
I know it's a hard decision to make but if you're not feeling it then pushing on to finish just makes it more miserable. Great video all the same Allen! Cheers 🚲👍
Thank you! Yeah - the answer is a plug in mic or a Bluetooth mic. Just adds to the faff of a quick set up shot. I’ve got an idea though, so maybe the next one will be better. Fingers crossed. Still very much learning. Thanks for the feedback :)
Seemed to be a lot of road ! Or was it just the bits you filmed ? (I don’t do roads only when absolutely necessary BUT with all the wet in the ground…. Maybe
Nice one Alan, this cheered me up this morning as i sit here nursing a broken wrist and itching to get out bikepacking, even having to miss WRT this year. Thanks for the inspiration and for creating another great video, hopefully another 4 or 5 weeks i can get back out 👍
Oh no!! I’m so sorry to hear you have to miss the Welsh Ride Thing :( absolutely gutting. Thanks for watching though, hopefully these next 4 or 5 weeks will get you sorted. 🙂
@@AllenBoardman they're so bad they're good! Can't wait until December for your Christmas cracker jokes 😱😂 It's actually a great type of humour to put in a video, I enjoy it 😁👍
