Moonhare is the home recording studio of Darren Tansley built at the back of a 600 year old farm cottage in deepest, darkest East Anglia in the summer of 2017. If you like what you see the tip jar is here:- www.buymeacoffee.com/MoonhareStudio.
Darren spent his twenties and thirties touring with a variety of bands across the UK, Europe and Australia playing everywhere from back rooms of pubs to Arenas. His previous bands include Blyth Power, The Wickermen, Jilt, Jack's Family and Pavlov's Cat. He writes for theatre and podcast as well as being invited to provide piano, keys and orchestral mockups for other artist's albums. He also uses his music to raise money for wildlife charities. When Covid is over he may even get to do some gigs again (remember live music?).
Moonhare Studio is based around a windows 10, Scan 3XS i7 gen 10 laptop with 64GB RAM, Cubase Pro 12, M-Audio Oxygen 88, Icon Qcon ProX 16 channel motorised desk, Korg NanoKontrol 2 and Steinberg CC121 controllers.
Hi there. They come included with the extender. I imagine if you didn't get any you could easily just cut a suitable width wooden dowel to size though.
@@MoonhareStudio thank you so much. Bought the extender off ebay and got just the unit and power cable. I appreciate your response to a 4+ year old video.
No problem. They are simply little metal cylinders to prevent the units moving backwards and forwards. There's no lovk as such so a wooden dowel of the right diameter will do exactly the same job. Enjoy your unit. It is still the heart of my studio setup.
I know it can be a bit of a pain. One thing you could try is briefly swapping the rotary controls for the faders while you are panning but that may be a bit cumbersome. Anyway see about 4 mins in on the link below for that function ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JH7XmJ_NoIw.htmlsi=TtcBrAYgLr75lhzG
Thank you, thank you, thank you! Being a Cubase user and just recentely getting my NanoKontrol2, this has been extremely helpful! Thanks for taking the time!
I'm afraid Cubase Artist does not feature the Control Room - that is only in Pro. That means that there must be something else wrong. You need to go back through your settings. I did a response to someone else a while ago who was using Elements so you could see if any of that helps. Otherwise I'm not sure: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-G7RNaccC3_g.htmlsi=hfKvkCnA12poPRMF
Thank you so much for breaking this down. I was beginning to think I was going crazy, but turns out it was just a midi issue. No triangle corners to be seen! Now I have a new skill for my Cubase pocket. I appreciate this!
Not quite sure I know what you mean but if you have it set in standard mode then you have to bank up and down to get to different groups of channels on your mixer. If you connect more than one you effectively turn them into a 16 channel (or more) mixer controller. If you're programming different controls like I do in CC mode to act as shortcuts to various functions you can save the layout for later recall and could therefore load in the layout of choice at the start of your session.
I just plugged mine in this morning (I use Logic) opened the configuration app typed in the CC values, opened Logic & set the transport buttons I use & I was done. 15mins. I didnt know there was an option to hold buttons for a daw xD This is a brilliant video for the set up!! thanks a million for this! I learned things as I didnt read the manual. xD
Hi, you have been so helpful, I thought I would bother you again. With that in mind, my Econ will no longer add markers. I have layer 2 lit, but no function. Icon told me to remove all Cubase preferences, that seems to be. a massive pain. I figured I could reset the Qcon, but can't find imap to do that. Any solution? Thank you again. Jay
Hi Darren. First I want to thank you for this very detailed video. I'm actually using the Nanocontrol on Reason. Is it the same for all this set up? Thanks a lot
Thanks for watching. I wish I could be more help but I don't actually have any experience with using Reason so I can't really comment on this. The basic setup stuff should work but might be worth seeing if anyone out there has done a more specific video for Reason.
@@MoonhareStudio thanks anyway. I was thinking to include Cubase in my set of working programs so this video is actually an amazing guide. I will try to find something about reason and its functions. Have a great life 🙌🙌
hi thanks for this video. I have also a icon q con pro x and it since 2 month. But in cubase 11 it does not work. Just in cubase 10.5, i wanted to upgrade today, but the erase button does not work. I do not ordered the new panel yet, cause i did not know to this.
Hi there. I have used the Qcon in Cubase 11 (I'm now on 12) so it should work. You should check the setup again in Studio Setup to make sure you do have your Mackie Controller selected and set to the Qcon. Is the issue that the whole unit is not working or is it that some features do not work?
Hi, thanks for your answer. Yes everything is set fine in the studio preferences. Macki Control is set up with the icon q con pro x and the midi setup ist also made. If did a firmware update and it works but unfortunately my keyboard was not working anymore. As i did the same in cubase 10.5 everything worked finde. But i like to use cubase 11 cause of same features there. But many thanks!!! @@MoonhareStudio
Thanks for the video! Is it possible to map those pan controls to some virtual synth knobs, like Filter Cut-Off? It looks like those knobs may have a "notch" in the middle, that can be not very comfortable for that?
Hi there - the pan knobs could definitely be used for that sort of function and I can confirm that there is no notch or click at the 12 o'clock centre position so I think it would work well.
hi, I watch all of your video about qcon pro. But why the function keys are not editable on my cubase controll pannel? This option was seen on controll panel but not clikable. Any help from you?
On a motorbike in France for 2 weeks so can't help you straight away but if you are still having problems on my return I will try to offer assistance. Apologies Darren
