The RU-vid algorithm offered me this as 'next up' so I gave it a go... what a great concert! I particularly enjoyed those 'basset hounds'..thank you, RCM, for a slightly unexpected but very rewarding evening's entertainment!
Incredible playing by all the artists, and Alison is just so amazing and inspiring with her teaching and encouragement! My trombone teacher once told me that "more air will solve 95% of your problems", and it's good to hear that Alison also said "more air"! I am learning so much from this masterclass, even though I don't play the trumpet.
Fantastic. Bravo to all those young musicians. I was looking through RU-vid for a recording of this which appealed to me and found it here! Well done! To woodwind in particular, clarinets superb.
What an incredible opportunity for these young musicians. I love these masterclass sessions and the talent represented. All very talented violinists and what a difficult piece to play. Love Mr. Vengerov’s passion yet playfulness when he works with theses young artist.
This master class is not just a great class for the pianists, but for all the listeners here. It's a class about how to interpret music. And even if you don't play the piano, you can still sing "deeee-da-da-daaaa", just as Lang Lang showed here.
The way he asked the accompanist for the second pianist to remain seated (and enjoy her deserved limelight) when she wanted to move away for him immediately after the piece was over, and how he later politely asked “May I use your piano?” when he needed to demonstrate technique, was genuinely humble and exquisitely classy. 👏🏻❤
I really have to commend the players who performed in this masterclass. It has to be a very stressful and humbling experience for them. They are all very good. Alison Balsom is also very positive, tactful and charming.
What a wonderful group of trumpet "students". I should say "artists". Nevertheless, Alison wants the epitome of playing to preserve the musicality. I thought Barbara Butler was tough! Thank you for posting.
