Hi, I'm Nathan Walby, creator of Visual Musical Minds. What started as a flipped-classroom project for my elementary music classes, has slowly grown into a much larger collection of music-instructional videos. For myself, I use these videos every day in the classroom to help students conceptualize and understand music in a much more visual way as I slowly learn and master the technology to create them. But as our video collection grows, I hope this channel can also be a resource for other music teachers looking for video resources to some of the most popular songs we teach.
My father was a Korean War Veteran and before he died, the Korean government invited him back to honor him and the other veterans. They also invited my mother who is his wife and whom he married when he returned. Due to his advanced age at the time, I accompanied them. Dad was front line infantry and a member of the Chosin Frozen bearing the scars of frostbite until he died. When there they played this song and it brought my father to tears remembering the orphaned children who would sing this song to the soldiers. I play violin and I would like to learn this simple lament. I would like to play it at his grave.

Hi Nathan, I have been following you for a long time and recently started as a music educator in public schools in Singapore. I have been inspired by you and looking to do up similar videos for my peers and students. Wondering if you could point me in the right direction as to what technology/ software you use to create your videos?
Hey! The programs that I use to make these can be found with Adobe Creative Cloud. The program I use the most is Adobe Animate- this lets me create the video, but I also use Premier Pro to finish the video, and sometimes Adobe illustrator to create pictures. Also, to get you started, I have a video on my channel called 'the everything file'- and in its description box is a link to a Google slide show with tons of music notation pictures to help others create in similar ways.
