Thank you so much! I had the hardest time figuring this black screen thing out. I was bamboozled, in all my years, I had never seen this issue before. Now the laptop has Windows 11 on it and works perfectly! You're a genius! I figured it was the BIOS, but the computer was not functional to even update the BIOS. Helpful hint, you can plug it into an HDMI monitor and you can see windows and operate the computer so you can do the update.
I probably won't get a reply, but i followed your instructions on an ASUS G74S and now im just getting "select proper boot device" in bios. Any pointers here????
Trying this on G74SX. I did all this and I still get the enter password and if I do the alt+R, I get no date. I hook the hard drive back and it has windows and I took the battery out and hold the power button 30 seconds, I even did what Asus says on some you short the two terminals at the battery terminal, left jumper for five minutes why I did something ..else put the battery back in plug it in. it starts by itself but no windows.. but back to the enter password screen, and still no alt+R date given.
I have tried to carefully take off the outer case; it seems to be locked into place with screws that are under the back plastic cover. How do I get it off?
Sometimes there are screws under the keybolard, try removing it and then there should be some screws in there, or under stickers, also under the battery compartment if it is removable.
After opening the lid for the RAM, you could see that the top module was not seating straight. Reseating and trying it would make sense ( to me anyway ) before digging any deeper.
Disconnect everything. cables, wifi adapter etc. Then loosen the screws of the CPU cooler in an X pattern. Take it off. Clean the thermal paste from the CPU and the cooler. Take out the CPU and check the socket ( if it is socketed at all, if it is soldered to the motherboard it is different ) for bent pins and dust. Be carefull when bending pins on the socket. Only bent them one way and once. Reseat the processor, apply thermal paste. Put the cooler back on. Try if it powers on. Reconnect everything 1 by 1 and try it out.
I'll bet most of you haters have never made a video for RU-vid. Yes it was slow, but he explained everything he was doing. I've watched others that didn't take much time but also explained nothing. Thank you for an excellent video!
Thank you, I really appreciate the overwhelming response from my viewers, most of the comments I get on my videos are amazing, people that were able to get the computers working when they really needed them. I think more than 95% of the comments I have received have been positive. I appreciate each and every one of them, Including this one. "I almost did a time-lapse video with loud techno music on the background" Na, just kidding that would not have helped. :-)
I attempted to take my laptop apart turned into a nightmare with the HP 17 inch. Not enough patience i guess to many screws then more screws to get to mother board etc. Just was going to test connections
Yes, I know that it can be intimidating. Sometimes I do feel the hesitation in doing something unfamiliar but the curiosity carries me to do it. I hope you were able to put it back together, or did you go ahead and continue?
I am so glad you liked it. Most people have told me that they like this video in particular, but there have been a few that said it was too long and boring. I appreciate your comment. Thanks.
Awesome, Even though this video is not even close to the views from a few of my other videos, I am happy to hear that it too has helped people out there. Thanks for the comment.
I suspect the problem relates to static electricity building up in the metal casing. Dismantling the ribbon cable discharges the static charge. Good idea to remove the drive.
These computers had the issue with the cable, some would break the inner wires from the ribbon cable. Since they are bent under the HDD and the computer heats up and cools down, it puts stress on the ribbon cable. For other people the cable just comes loose, so after re seating it, sometimes it just works. Thanks for watching.
Actually my old dell latitude 3330, works fine, but one day when i press power button it starting show normal dell boot logo, occured a beep sound and my laptop died, its not turning on now, please help me brother,i tried all method from youtube but these tips and tricks not working for my shit laptop, pls help me what to do?how can i fix this at home
It is really difficult for me to help you, because I do not have the computer in front of me so I can test it. But, the best way for you to do it is to go trough the video and for example test the power supply, and keep notes of what you did, what was your observations, and any questions you might have. I do not know if you have the tools to test, so in order to help I would need a lot more information. keep notes of stuff you did and questions you have, and maybe I can help you. It is not guaranteed that I will be able to, and sometimes I will not have time to come to RU-vid to check the messages right away.
You could try to remove the battery and power lead and press down on the start button for around 30 seconds. Then put the power lead back in and press start button. This removes any static build up and drains the capacitors. I hope this helps.
no it does not take me to that screen using command r nor do i get anything on options nor on shift comand r or with boot up disc or install disc. i was trying to format to factory to resell my older imac running tiger upgraded to snow leopard 10.6 but seems i wiped out internal and all hard drive software that should be listed in disk utility
Sorry than happened, I do not deal too much with macs, but unless there is a way to recover that data then you might need a new install. I hope you were able to repair it.
@@carpio01 no I have not been able to fix it on my own. I have given up for now. I do not know what you mean by a new install. I do not care to recover data I just want to install the operating system but once you upgrade on a Mac. Apple will only install that system. I cannot go back to tiger or sno leopard. I cannot install El Capitan as there is no backup drive I mistakenly deleted the backup drive with the hard drive. so I guess i am pooched
After mine does the Internet recovery it just shows a blank screen with the Apple logo and doesn’t do anything for hourss, I have to end up just turning it off every time
i had sooo many questions when i started this video bc i have an hp x360 doin the same thing, u went into great detail step by step and diagnosed the cause. u did awesome. i honestly have no questions at this point. AND THATS INSANE BC I OVERTHINK EVERYTHING!!!! im going to go try this now , fingers crossed , thanx in advance
This has been most helpful , will try another lead & if nothing happens again , will pass it over to my man , as his got the gadgets to test it further & have roughly told him what could be wrong with a lap top i have 😁
Howe sure are you absolut its hard drive cable is the problem? I had this problem but i didnt do nothing with the drive, i started the terminal and did some commands and After That my MacBook Pro Work great 👍😊

thanx a lot! This video really helped me with my problem. Especially the part when you press Esc multiple times to enter the menu. In fact I didn't have the password issue. I was stuck on the user level and could change a thing in Bios.
Good Day sir. I have the same model its an ASUS K52N same problem but i have the password i just cant access the BIOS. My question is that does your Rescue Password work to every k52n or same model?
amazing , i have a toshiba satellite that suddenly turned off, i have led light on from the adapter but it still doesnt turns on again, gonna check all that you said ,
Man! You are a legend! I am quite advance user, but idea of Bios update didn't come to me. Actually, now in 2022 is not easy to understand where exactly is a problem. Especially when is not your laptop, and someone asked you to take a look at old laptop. Thank you very much!
