Hi 👋🏼 We're a family of four from Utah, embarking on another life adventure! We're back in the US, navigating a familiar yet new landscape. In 2018, we relocated to China, where we relished four incredible years. Leaving was heart-wrenching.
Our living abroad experience illuminated the world's wonders and unveiled areas in our lives we wished to refine. Since our return, we've been in a season of change and growth and It's been challenging. We're dreamers and love the next big adventure but are fully embracing the present, so we went from "Living Asian" to "Living Here." 😊
As we do our best to live in the now, we’ll share it with you. I can still recall the new year where you guys were sitting on top of the “Kang” and made dumplings and later watched the fireworks from your helper’s mom home.
In 2007, Zhaoxing was just a sleepy hollow with a handful of tourists. I regretted spending only 1 night there. In the morning, there was a colourful performance for visiting dignitaries. I'm glad the place has thrived while still retaining the main elements of its beauty. I could see the genuine love you had for the villagers. If there were enough people like you, there'll be peace in the whole world.
I think Emery is getting a little umm...how should I put this, fat? Nah that's too harsh, maybe plump? but, that sounds like a plump chicken about to be slaughtered? Ok; let's say thick? Nah that won't do. Oh well, let's call it Emery's cute and round then.
We hope to visit this year for a bit at least! But to live, we aren't sure when that will happen again! We hope to live abroad again, we are open to anywhere though! We are trying to take life one day at a time instead of living in the future all the time.
Fun fact, the crazy song was composed in 1945 after the end of WW2 to celebrate the end of Japanese occupation of China, which somehow turned into a Chinese New Year song ;)
In a little over 2 months you will be celebrating the lunar new year of the dragon! But before that comes christmas and new calendar year of 2024. Happy holidays, see you all soon.
Yangshuo is a big climbing town! You will see signs everywhere for rock climbing. You shouldn’t have any issues finding someone to take you! Look for a guide though so they can take you to the fun more secluded spots! Have so much fun!
