I know, I know. I am so behind. And to be honest, there won't be much catching up because our life the last few months has been, well, kind of a mess. I will do a video to catch you up on that but not until after I finish the videos from leaving China. (Which are almost done by the way)
Anyways, this is our last video from Guizhou! It's simple but it holds some special memories for us. Our last trip with Tony in China was a good one! We hope you enjoy this video! and brace yourself, the next one will be the goodbyes and I have cried over and over again trying to make it.
It may seem crazy that we moved our family from the US to China, but we know that after you see our videos you will understand why! And to be honest, I think it's crazy we moved back to the states. 😉😉 China has so many wonderful things to offer and our life there was pretty amazing! We hope you enjoy these last moments as we close this chapter. Thanks for following along!

Saying goodbye was the hardest thing I’ve ever done. And making these last videos is like living through it all over again. It’s been very hard! Might sound dramatic to some but it’s the truth. ❤️

Aww I missed a few vids and didn't realise you were leaving so soon. I do hope the children will continue to practise their mandarin it's such an asset to have as a second language. Will they go to a mandarin teaching school? Best wishes as you move on to another chapter.

Yes, we moved back in February. It’s been a very hard transition. But we are okay! And yes, the girls are/will be going to the Chinese dual immersion school near our home. That was a requirement for moving back! So glad they will be able to keep their mandarin. Thank you for your kind words ❤️
@sstcatherine

@@Living-Here A difficult transition is expected I suppose, as China is an amazing place to live. I too miss it so much and sometimes regret leaving. That's excellent about the school, as I believe it's imperative to have a second language, which will bring such unique opportunities later. I'm looking forward to seeing the next chapter unfold if you continue vlogging... love your vids. Thank you for sharing your adventures with us 🥰🥰

Boarder closures are making it very hard for expats. It’s been over two years since many of them have seen their families and with the rest of the world moving on and living with covid and yet no end in sight in China, many expats feel leaving is the best choice. And many feel the way we do… we would have stayed had it not been for covid. Loved our life there more than you know.

@@Living-Here It would be a good topic for anthropologists and epidemiologists to study : how many months of surviving a pandemic would break the tolerance and drive populations to migrate, to return home. Plot a chart. By the look of things, two years and a few months is the upper limit as witnessed in the number of expats in China returning home recently.

@@stanbimi Lived in the US for over 25 years before I went back to China for vacation. That was over 15 years ago and almost everyday, I think about what it would be like for me to go back there when I retire or when I will have another opportunity to vacation there again. I'm so grateful to RU-vidrs like Living Asian who share their China experiences so I can almost experience again what it's like to be there. I watched "[ENG SUB LYRICS] “Heaven" by Tengger" and it moved me to tears - made me so home sick even though my home is the US while my birthplace was China. It's so sad politics are making tensions so high between the 2 countries.

You guys are in the states now, aren't you? That's why there is an 8videos gap. "...our life there was...", "...we close this chapter." Whaaat happpeneeed in china? Why so sudden a decision?
@Living-Here
@Living-Here 2 года назад
Yes, we moved back in February. It’s been a hard transition and we still feel like we are trying to figure out life here as weird as that sounds. We didn’t leave because anything happened, but with boarder closures it had been over two years since we had seen our family. When Chance got offered a good job in the states we felt that was a sign to come back. Even though many days I regret making that decision. As much as we have LOVED seeing family, we really miss our life in China. 💔

@@Living-Here You honor us Chinese people with your passionate videos about China. We feel your genuine love for Chinese culture and people. I learnt about places and culture I myself didn't know existed in China. And most of all, your whole family devotion to Chinese language. Your crew made the cutest addition to the coverage that make your videos sooo watchable. I feel as sad as when they ended the sitcom Friends. Your videos, we will miss, Ms. Brenna.

Miao is not the right term! It's Hmong! Miao is a derogatory name that is given by the Han Chinese people!
