Honest Tea Talk

A show where 3 Muslim women get together and have honest conversations about the things we desperately need to talk about, as women and as an ummah. It's raw, it's real, at times heavy, but always profoundly important.

Appreciate that you folk took the time to talk about the subject of divorce and it's negative impact on the children and the wife and mother. Unfortunately, this video promotes a one-sided view that seems to advocate for feminist and gynocentric perspectives, potentially undermining a balanced understanding of marriage dynamics. There is no discussion of the unavoidable fact of life: happiness is a fleeting feeling and should never be the goal. The goal should always be submission to Allah and achievement which yields non-permanent happiness.

Simply powerful discussion. Thank you for stating that acts of oppression and abuse are not condoned by Islam.

AssalamAlaikum As a African American convert ( October 2015) I was discriminated against by the Arab women of the mosque. I joined the women’s group and they said mean things to me on several different occasions and made me cry. Also when there were events at the mosque they would ignore us American Muslims. To the point of not allowing us to sit with them and eat. They would ignore us and give us ugly looks. I left the group and stopped going to events at the mosque. Thank you for speaking on this.

As-salaamu Alaikum. I shared one of these type of videos in the group chat to a masjid that I attend and literally, it didn’t get acknowledged. I am an African American revert of almost 3 years and it is very hard to remain positive in the community when certain issues like this occur. Where is my safe space?

Only way how to solve it is separating from those who are racist. Most tribes live under the faced of being modest. I’ve stay in muslim arab communities and most just dress modest that’s all. If people just separate people solved. I pray at any mosque yet I only practice brotherhood with those who practice brotherhood with me simple.

How do you find a spouse? Women: Hello, I'm here and want to get married. Men: Must have a very good job, a car, a house, 30,000 euros for the mahr (dowry), be 1.8 meters tall, have 5% body fat, go to the gym, not live with his mother, do everything the woman wants, be famous, learn Hadith and Quran daily, be a leader, a listener, a fighter, protector, provider, and supporter, etc. Then he can get married.

As-Salamu Alaykum Sisters, I am a brother aged 30 years and I am not yet married. I would love to, Khair InShaaAllah. I have brought up polygamy in conversations, wanting to understand matters better and make well-informed decisions around this matter even prior to confirming that I am getting married. It's a topic that personally scares me. The main aspect that scares me is that I may enter into a monogamous marriage with genuine love for my wife with the understanding that she is against polygamy and choose to intend to stick to just her, and then later in the marriage, certain circumstances unfold where I find myself qualified to marry a second/third/fourth wife (i.e. I am able to look after another widowed sister whom I find myself attracted to and I love the fact that we are genuinely attracted to each other and we get to fulfill the act of worship to Allah of saving ourselves from pursuing unlawful relationships outside of marriage, my first wife in unable to bear children and I marry another woman who probably already has children so I have more confidence that my other wife can bear children, or it could be that I come across another woman with good character whom we both see ourselves desiring each other and I am able to take care of her out of genuine love without taking away from my first wife, I personally love the thought of being a father-figure to the children of a widowed/divorced woman - the thought that they have a father-figure to strengthen the family structure and provide protection, love and care, I personally love that). With all these thoughts, I tell myself it's best to get married to a woman who already is embracing of polygamy. I know I cannot force my potential spouse to be into polygamy. I choose to respect her to not tie the knot with her if she is not open to polygamy because I don't want to hurt her when I know she's not up for polygamy even before marriage. I would love that we Muslim brothers and Muslim sisters (married and single) can better engage on such matters together on such platforms (interviews/social discussions, insta lives etc.) I am 100% down to being part of this conversation on a social platform (whether on or off social media). Khair InShaaAllah. Allahumma Baarik to you all, MaaShaAllah Tabaarakallah.

As a Christian, often I listen to the topics Muslims discuss and I realize a few things. 1) we have the same challenges 2) a lot of these challenges are NEW to Muslims because it is a consequence of westernization on your religion. Christians went, are going through and are still trying to navigate the same things for centuries. Sometimes Muslims criticize Christians for immorality and secularism that has infiltrated our religion, however Muslims are now realizing the same challenges as more of them emigrate to western countries and have children who push boundaries and sometimes go their own way- the western way. 3) the basic premise of our faiths are the same. We aim to serve God with our lives, pursue joy and happiness while on earth with the hope of being with him in heaven.

I am a "Black" man born and raised in the U.S. and grew up in California. I happened on this video and found that I was relating to a lot of the discussion. I work in Social Services in a building where Muslim men & women come for immigration services & sometimes they avoid me or even my Black female coworkers on the elevator and in the hallway. It hurts, but we want to break the stereotypes against us & also what is said to us about Muslims. I appreciated this discussion and will tune in for more. We, so called African Americans are beautiful, loving people who live in a society designed to destroy us. There's negative people in every culture so again, thanks for having this discussion. It's very important..Bless!❤

When Allah created Adam He hit his right shoulder from which his descendants who are as white as pearls came out, then He hit his left shoulder from which his descendants who are as black as charcoal came out; then He said to the one’s on his right enter the Paradise and that would not diminish from My dominion to the least and He said to the one’s on his left enter Hell-fire and that would not increase anything in My dominion” (Al-Haythami & Abul-Wazir Al-Yamani)
