Grade 2 PCL tear, not torn apart completely. Trying to manage without surgery now. Can anyone in India suggest/recommend a knee brace that supports PCL please? Not a lot of options in India for PCL and imported ones costs more than the surgery itself. Please help
Partially tore my pcl seven months ago. I can jog a little and move around fine but cannot sprint and the front center of the knee still hurts. Can’t seem to shake the injury
I tore my PCL 12 years ago and I can honestly say it never going to go away. I'm in pain every single day of my life for 12 years and I do meticulous rehab and weight lifting to keep my legs strong
I tore my PCL in 2017, I rehabbed it, was able to run marathons/triathlons. Eventually, as I progressed to training for an Ironman in 2023, my knee gave out. I had to get surgery. If you are very active, it'll eventually eventually come back. (@@DudePeace101
I tore my PCL completely playing futsal, but my doctor didn’t recommend surgery. Strengthening the quads, calves, muscles around the knee, etc. , help compensate the PCL’s function. I’m pretty much back to normal.
@@poojatiwari5311 Yes, a complete tear. I was also kind of confused. I’m just glad I didn’t get surgery. Surgeries on PCL tears is a very debated matter among specialists. Some will recommend it and others won’t.
@@tuhinshubhraroy6139 For me it took between 6-7 months. However, I heard of a guy who was able to recover in about 3 months. Every one’s body is different so the recovery time will be different for everybody.
AVOID SURGERY AT ALL COSTS... Many surgeons / doctors have conflict bias and will play on your emotions and convince you that you need surgery to increase their wealth . It's like asking a real estate agent if it's a good time to buy... You need to make the decision and try all natural healing before committing to surgery, since you will never be the same after someone cuts through your body. Speaking from experience after I was pressured into surgery as a trusting young kid.
@@nicholethurman1544 A chiropractor can help you determine the grade of the PCL tear. I tore my PCL completely, but my doctor didn’t recommend surgery. Strengthening the quads and all the muscles around the knee can help compensate the PCL’s function.
It's been 6 years since I torn my PCL playing basketball the first year I did rehab and was able to play basketball and run again but in my third year I reinjured my pcl and fully torn it after falling from a hike when trying to climb a mountain and ever since I haven't able to run and it's been 3 years I haven't been able to run and have alot of stability and some stiffness I recently started exercising and rehabbing again but sometimes my foot gets sore as well which never happened before I'm 27 what do you recommend the best option for me I haven't went with the surgery yet and are you supppse to use a knee brace to help keep it stable especially when exercising I never used a brace since I got injured

I ruptured my Achilles’ tendon yesterday while golfing. I tried to get our of a bunker and hear the “snap”. At the hospital X-Rays confirmed the rupture. I go to see the orthopaedic doctor in a couple of days. In the meantime, icing to relieve swelling. Thank goodness not a lot of pain. This is a GREAT instructive video. Thank you so much!
It’s been nine months since my L Achilles rupture. I did physio for some time and then the surgeon said that in order to recover fully I needed to bear on my L leg while supporting myself at a sink with my arms. After some months I did not make any progress. I went to my physiotherapist and she said that my L calf muscle had weakened and thinned considerably and that was the reason I was still limping. I am now on the regimen of exercises to strengthen the L calf, buttock and the whole leg via toe press machine at the gym or with a tensor band while at home and also partial squats to strengthen the glutes. It is vital to strengthen the weakened leg muscles as soon as possible after the pain subsides.
Dictor is this torn without surgery? i didnt hv surgery and did not lock the joint until two months later o went ro different doctor . now im 4 months from accident and on knee locked to 30 degree
It sucks sucks sucks. I am 9 week POST op for a neglected Achilles Tendon tear (surgery 4 MONTHS after injury). I required a graft, plus an FHL tendon transfer. I am still in my Achilles boot at 90 degrees, weight bearing since last week. Still no walking or bending of the ankle except for unloaded ROM exercises. Getting electrical stim and massage at PT.
Hi how is your Achilles doing now? Did you have any stiffness in your ankle joint that restricted you from performing dorsiflexion past neutral and performing squats and lunges? Did you have any tightness in your longus and extensor parts of your legs? What is your PT doing to help you in your special situation?
@@jasmineegardner3499 I've been out of PT since February 2021, used up my insurance visits. I don't have full dorsiflexion in the foot, and might never get all the way. I can walk around and ride my bike no issues so far. Still do not have full power int he right calf either. The ankle is stiff at the limits of my range of motion, and is sore after any exercise. I still do dorsiflexion stretches weekly, and especially before a ride. I cannot do a full lunge on the right side, there's definitely a "limit" because of the surgery and the graft. But the repair is solid. I did 6 hours of cleaning a camper, top to bottom, ladders, climbing, yesterday, and it was sore afterwards. But during the normal course of the day I don't think about it. I've definitely used the ankle pretty hard, loading up the calf muscles during hard rides, but never felt there would be a problem, no pain. So I think my surgery went well, and the repair is strong. Hoping I never get a repeat rupture!
@@ow-my-achilles1106 hi did your Achilles ever loosen up after you started to walk on it? For example in the beginning it was very stiff and tight and now you can move it as in wiggle it around or it is stiff tight? Did your PT do any gastron to loosen the tendon?
@@jasmineegardner3499 My ROM is much better than after the surgery. I had nerve bruising that limited how aggressive my therapy could be early on. Really sore ankle near the tendon graft site. Even today I KNOW there's something up in that foot. Likely forever. I've come to understand there's no such thing as 100% recovery where Achilles tendon rupture is concerned, especially for older folks, so don't expect it.
God that position when you’re laying on your stomach and they are stretching on your leg had me fucking tears. I had three ligament reconstruction surgeries on my knee and was not allowed to use my hamstrings or it’d loosen the ligament
i ended up with a double cruciate ligament injury ( both pcl and acl) as well as a fully torn acheilas tendon aftet a freak injury on the soccer feild were my foot locked up but all of my leg from the tendon up twisted. took a 7 hour operation to fit pins ans plates in my knee and tendon. then a n 11 month recovery period.
Very helpful thx! My experience ruptured achilles on video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--TnwSG2Rax4.html After 7 weeks of surgery, Physical therapy once a week for 2 months. Six months after surgery, I was able to play tennis again!
Hey , how long before you was In phase 4 ? I just got surgery & getting my walking book next week & supposed to be starting physical therapy in January
@@kazmarrstone2340Hi. It was aprox 3 month after surgery I started more intense excersises. I was able to do first jumps 4 and a half months after surgery. But, if not COVID situation, it could be little sooner. Get well soon!
bro ur are doing a big mistake and ut can cost u an another surgery ......... have u stopped ur physiotherapy ,u should have exercised as much as possible in early days ...if its possible start now .....ur knee should have recovered in 2 month and u r saying its 8 months
My hamstrings still feel weak as fuak after my pcl reconstruction surgery and I don't have full bend of my knee but I do have full extension. It's been 7 months since surgery. Is this normal?
Alex I had my PCL reconstruction exactly one year ago, yes it is normal for your hammies to be very weak even at 7 months, PCL recovey takes longer and has to be more care than ACL. I attempted playing soccer 2 weeks ago for 40 min for the first time since injury and even after a full year of recovery, therapy, rest, and strengthening my legs at a high athlete level, my knee felt very tender at end of game and it got swollen the next day. the swell disappeared 7 days later. Yes, even at 7 months there is still swell deep in the joint this is why you can't bend it, hot & cold therapy at your home helps you with this and do your physical therapy and ROM movements everyday. My personal recommendation is give it 1.5 years of full care therapy, resting, apply hot and cold 20 min of warm/ hot around knee follow by cold I do this 2 or 3 times per day religiously, cold will help with inflammation and hot helps with increasing blood supply in knee so the knew ligament scars faster and healthier deep in the joint. Have patience and faith learn to listen to your body, if knee feels tender don't push it. Once you are ready start doing exercises like the one in this video, I started doing this type of exercises 2 months ago, so 10 months after surgery. Good luck !!
I’m 51 and the Doctor said they didn’t recommend surgery for me. I’m seven months after injury and still struggling although no longer crippled. The pandemic has interfered with rehab unfortunately.
@@alavergatemevas9657 yes you have your youth in your favor. You will heal well whereas Sven though I’m early fifties they fear your recuperation. My pcl isn’t just torn unfortunately it is a complete tear. I can’t believe that my fall did this but I had my grandson in my arms and he didn’t get a scratch. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️Best wishes I am certain you will do well. Rehab is everything. My doc was certain I will probably get arthritis in that leg.
@@Ironman-BB i would say I’m doing quite well. I have incorporated rebounding daily and also a vibration plate. Walking as well. I think it helps to keep strength up. When I’m tired or at the end of day it’s always the side of my knee where injury occurred and I will feel pain that radiates up my thigh. Thanks for asking.
I’m going into week 3 post surgery. Am I the only post-op patient that has numbing, tingling and pain around my foot? Is this normal and will it go away? It’s rarely talked about in all the videos I’ve been watching about recovery. Thank you.
Hi Myron. I am in my 4 week post op and I also have the nub/tingling issue around my toes and on the sole of my foot. I am very worried and haven't found much online about it as u say. What happened in the end with your recovery? Did the problem fade in time?
I'm at week 6 post op with boot, I'm still dealing with a significant amount of tingling and numbness on the entire span of the sole of my foot and toes also occasional sharp pain especially at night, not taking any pain pills just dealing with it, any thoughts? My week six appt is coming up next week...
@Will Chill I’m currently at the end of week 2 and my foot still has tingling and numbness as well as sharp pain in my heel. I was wondering if this normal for everyone. It seems as if everyone does not go through this type of pain. I’m a bit concerned. 😟
So I'm 6 weeks out from my surgically repaired Achilles tendon rupture, while the doctor was in there he removed some bone spurs and shaved down the heel bone and then anchored the tendon with a couple of screws, he said I'll never know or feel there even in there, but at week 6 I'm starting to walk on it but I do get heel pain after a few minutes of walking, it does go away fairly quickly, but does anyone have any experience with the heel pain and how long did take to go away.
