Hey everyone I’m Mycotrophic and welcome to my channel, where together we will grow in mind-body-spirit, and mushroom.
Thank you for taking time to watch what I’ve got going on. On this channel I will be documenting my personal mycology and microscopy research, but more importantly i'll be giving instructional and informative videos to educate the beginner, intermediate, and even experienced growers on how to grow their your own mushrooms for medicinal, spiritual, & microscopy purposes. This channel and the information provided will serve as a form of safety education and harm reduction. Nothing, and I mean nothing, on this channel is for sale. This includes; mushroom fruiting bodies, live cultures (agar/liquid culture), spore prints/syringes/swabs etc.
This channel is strictly for research and education purposes. The occasional amazon affiliate link may be used description box below a video.
Again thank you for stopping by :D Have a great day, Namaste, Don’t contemplate, Meditate!
The benefits of horse manure are as follows yes it does add nutrients yes it does yield much larger mushrooms but the main benefit is that the mushrooms will grow faster. Thus beating out trichoderma. Message mean benefit the faster that you can have mushrooms growing on top of your substrate the better chances of a successful yield and a larger yield there is nothing wrong with adding it as separate ingredient or using it at 100% it's very easy to get to fuel capacity I modified a paint mixer and welded some sharp blades on it can I do a gigantic tub of the stuff at a time and seal it up once it's dry you can make it a nice powder out of the stuff pretty easily people are scared to use horse poop when it's them the best mushroom media on the planet
I really think your videos are informative and I appreciate them. I use two 4 foot 6500 watt grow lights. The tub is much smaller and I lay them flush over the top of the tub. My take is that light is a natural predator of mold. So, roughly 12 hours a day I have the lights shining down across the tub. The 12 hours is in two 6 hour phases. I truly think it naturally disinfects the environment because I mist freely and never have any problems. Maybe someone can corroborate my feeling about light. Anyway, keep up the good work and I appreciate you bringing these topics out for such enjoyable discussions.
I see you have lights on also when your colonizing is it just for video or does it not actually affect the colonization process? Thank you man love your content!🤙
TLDW: fan 2-3x/day by lifting and closing one end of the lid 20-30x. Mist the sides of tub if there's little to no condensation, never mist the substrate.
Hey quick question, is the masking tape over the micropore tape, then you pull off the masking tape when its time? Or do you just pull one off and put the other?
Love this video and I wish I would have came across this one before I started my first grow. I didn’t have enough substrate, had temps too high and too much humidity. This caused some contamination in my cake that I cut out. Pins are starting to come out but the cake was fighting to do it’s thing. Still going to produce some but by no means a high yield. Good leaning experience on what not to do and on my next grow after watching this video should be a heck of a lot better!
I agree, why not try to be as clean as possible because you're right a lot of time goes into this so why not give yourself the best chance of succeeding
Thanks it's very informative. There are so many methods out there I got confused sometimes. I've got a tub and a bucket, drill bucket with holes at the side and the base. but then I realized that two many holes gave me more pins but less flushes. There are enough substrates in my 10L bucket, and I put bucket into bigger tub for a better environment. just left a tiny gap on top for air exchange since I don't want to damage my beautiful tub with big holes. So far I only got 3-4 small flushes, rests are small pins, will see
Thank you! What is the red stuff on the top left? Is all your substrate sterilized? I want to grow lions mane this way if it works and I wonder if i could inoculate pasteurized sawdust with sterilized grain.
Thanks man. I realized today that I was squeezing my sub before I was adding it to my tubs and now I know why I was struggling with dehydration. Duh!! You made it clear that the squeeze is a test and not part of the delivery process: If it drips w/out squeezing, it is too wet If it does not drip when you squeeze it, it is too dry If it drips only when you squeeze it, it is just right. Thanks!
