Great holiday destination stayed in 2017 with my then 1 year old we went privilege cause when we booked was only an extra £400 bearing in mind this was pre Covid and also was our honeymoon so screw it the main benefit of you can have all your meals in the a la carte restaurant near the sports bar they literally make anything you want in reason even if it’s not on the menu they used to keep the 1yo busy so we could eat in peace best holiday we’ve been on if I’m honest
It’s better than the video shows. The walk around was when everyone had left so looks a little empty. There’s a lot to do there and it’s not far to walk to the beach.
Great indepth video , we were there only last weekend and looking forward to Easter there , may I ask what camera you used to video as I also plan to video in my next trip just to show the family , I also recommend they check your video , Thanks
Thanks for your comment. I've been doing photography as a hobby for a long time and recently progressed to video. I'm one of those people that has far mor equipment than I need or use. For this video I used mostly my mobile iphone 14 plus a Sony a6700, Osmo Pocket 1, Insta360 Go2, Insta360 X2 and DJI Mini Pro 3. If you want to do something similar then simply using for mobile phone is a great start. If you want smoother moving video you could add one of the many phone gimbals available or use a phone tripod clamp and attach a selfie stick for holding or a monopod. If you feel you may do a lot of videoing of holidays the you could consider the new Osmo Pocket 3 which is a fantastic all rounder for video and is small enough to carry anywhere.
Just got back (yesterday) from a week here. 2 rooms, 6059 and 6064. The former had a great view of the sea, looking down onto the plaza canaria and across to Fuerteventura, but the latter (even though it was only a few doors down) had a large palm tree blocking most of this amazing view. Both were standard rooms, and the layout was similar to your room. We noted from the evacuation plans that some of the adjacent rooms were longer and thinner, with a much narrower balcony - around 1/2 the width of ours (and yours). Only the one glass fronted lift was working in the reception area, but we did see lift engineers working on the other several times during our stay but it was still broken when we left, and yes - it’s still slow! Sadly, as we were in the main building and on the same floor as reception, we didn’t get to experience the golf cart ride. Your review was a fair representation of this hotel, certainly not 5* in UK terms, but a good 4* with excellent, helpful and attentive staff. Thanks for the chance to reminisce back in chilly Suffolk, 9C vs the mid 20’s we were enjoying there.
Thanks for your excellent comment. I think due to the odd shape and design of the buildings, many rooms will end up being different shapes and layouts. Walking around and seeing many hotels through out the canaries, it’s great to see many of them with plants, cactus and palm trees in the grounds. Having said that, I’ve seen many rooms that have palm trees completely obscure the views of balconies and always thought I’d hate to go to my room upon arrival, open the curtains and seen nothing but a huge palm tree! One of the lifts when we were there was out of service on and off but we didn’t have issues using the stairs. The “train” ride was certainly a novelty, added a bit of fun and gave us a tour of the hotel.
It’s a 5 star according to Spanish ratings but I would agree it’s 4 stars from what I would expect in the UK. However, it would cost considerably more to stay if it was a UK equivalent 5 stars. Hopefully from videos like this people can see what the hotels are like before going and make their own opinions as to whether they think it’s worthwhile.
Sadly this hotel is not 5 Star. We stayed here in September 2022 and it wasn’t a pleasant experience. The food was mediocre, long queues at the bars, staff were often rude and the hotel complex is a little run down in places. The pools badly need refreshments. Not something you expect from H10 hotels.
It’s a 5 Star according to Spanish ratings. It would cost considerably more to stay if a 5 Star at British star ratings. Either you went on a bad week, it’s improved since you’ve been or we went on a good week. We met a couple there that have been 9 times and love it. It could just be individuals personal preferences or expectations but I can only go by the experience we had on that particular week. It’s our first H10 hotel so can’t compare with the standards of the others.
@@terryandsiantravels I’m sick of hearing that. I don’t book holidays in the UK. I visit hotels in Spain and I’ve stayed in 4 Star hotels that are far better. In fact one of them was the sister hotel the H10 Lanzarote Princess. Far better hotel in every way. This hotel lives on old reputations and isn’t as good as you make out. Tell me is the small river still dried up and full of debris. Are the pools still full of broken and cracked tiles. Is the food still lukewarm or cold. Are there still queues at the bars? All this is what holiday makers are looking at when they spend their hard earned cash, nothing more nothing less. It’s not 5 star it’s that simple.
@@peterskelton7435 The pools didn’t have cracked tiles. The river was not dried up or had debris in it, it’s in my video. It is 5 star based on Spanish ratings.
I agree with you, in my opinion it’s not what I would normally expect a 5 star to be and there is plenty of room for improvement. I also appreciate you didn’t have the best time there. Most of all I appreciate you commenting, thank you. When it comes to reviews it’s always best to hear the good and bad and personal experiences.
@@blahmaas Yes, enjoyed it very much. Had no issues so nothing to be wary from us. My only recommendation though is you can book any of the themed restaurants up to 3 times so if you’re interested in doing so they book these as soon as you can as they’re limited seats. The dinner show is highly recommended.
Very cosy place, good for people with limited mobility, usually a fair few mobility scooters, wallkers etc about. Found harbour suites and woodland lodges nice but bay cottages a bit cramped. Also the bus stops are about 10 minutes walk to get into Havant and then Chicester or Portsmouth.
It’s quite an open site so easy to get around. We had a small chalet which was fine for us, although the Harbour Suites and Woodland Lodges did look nice.
Just finished our holiday in there. Never been in a worst hotel in my life. List of issues is massive. Very disappointed. Didn't know places like this still exist in 21st century.
Sorry to hear you didn’t have a good time there. We never a single issue during our stay. Your last statement seems an incredible over exaggeration based on our stay and my video certainly doesn’t show anything worthy of your comment. I suppose it depends on what your expectations were for a budget 3 star hotel.
About 5 - 10 minutes there, maybe longer coming back as uphill. There’s a great crazy golf in the town though. Don’t forget the free bus rides to either side of the sand dunes.
Have a great time, we didn’t have any issues during our stay. It would great if you could comment here with your thoughts after your holiday. Especially if you can let us know if they have opened up the rooftop area.
I don’t remember any dress code but if there was one it would probably only be no swim wear in the dining room and no shorts for gents for evening meal. But that’s a guess, I don’t they’re strict.
That’s fine. Just keep in mind the 360 version is just a walk around the site on a Friday afternoon when everyone has gone home and waiting for the weekend guests. Most places would look similar when empty and between guests.
@@terryandsiantravels thank you so much! It does appear to seem that way! Im travelling solo (recently split from my boyfriend) so just wanted to feel sure it has enough or as litttle as I need there! Really just need to get away x
@@Kattyboo82 Sorry to hear that. This should be just right for you then. It will have everything there for you. A bigger Hotel may make you feel more isolated but the size of this one is just right to keep yourself to yourself when you want to but also feel part of a holiday family at the same time. The town is also a short walk away and although plenty to do and see, isn’t too big to big to feel isolated. Hope you have a great time.
@@terryandsiantravels Ahh thank you SO much for this reply! This really has made my mind up to book this. This is EXACTLY the sort of thing I want. To either be able to keep myself to myself when I want and then also to feel part of something! This sounds FABULOUS! Thank you so much. I know this will do me the world of good. I'm a very outgoing person and can talk to anyone, but sometimes I do want my down time too and just to be able to laze by the pool! Sounds perfect. Thanks ever so much for your video it was amazing :-) xx
I’m not sure what it’s called but they are separate from the main tower block . There are loungers covering the entire roof with Walk ways leading to the pool.
Hi, enjoyed your video, we are regular visitors to the Chatur Costa Caleta, did you happen to get any info on when the roof terrace refurbishment will be finished?
Unfortunately not. Sian emailed before we went and the reply just stated closed for refurbishment. Didn't appear to be any refurb activity whilst we were there and judging by reviews it's been closed for a while. Hoping at some point someone will see this video at a later date when it's open (if it ever does!) and posts a comment.
@@terryandsiantravels Thanks, we were at the hotel last August just after it reopened, at that time it was clear they had made a start on the roof but when we returned this January work had clearly come to a halt, hence, as you say I don't think it's going to reopen any time soon, I suspect the management are waiting until they have the €'s to finish the job.
Yes, hopefully they will complete it as I feel it would be popular. Maybe working out cost vs benefit. I definitely would have had a daily game of minigolf at the least.
Good morning Peter, I hope you dont mind me messaging but I see that you say you are a regular visitors to this hotel. I am looking to travel here on my own at the end of August. This is my first solo holiday (due to me and my botfriend splitting up) and I desperately need to get away. I just wondered if you could tell me if you think this would be ok for someone on their own. I do love to have a laugh and can enjoy myself ane certainly join in with the fun, but also maybe will want some quiet'ish time too. Just wondered what it was like entertainment wise during day/evening and also if there is much within walking distance if I want to take myself out for dinner/drinks too. During the day I do love to just plot up on a sunbed and drinks in hand but yet would join in with things too. Just wondered if this would be suitable for me. Many thanks Kat
@@Kattyboo82 Hi, shops bars and restaurants are a short walk away, entertainment at the hotel daytime and evening is a mixed bag some people seem to like it but it was pretty poor in our last visit, the pool area can be quite a suntrap in high season some complain that the sunbeds aren't adjustable and there are no parasols but we enjoy lazing by the pool
Ii went there 2 weeks ago, we were dropped off without being told where entrance was. Luckily saw you video, so knew where to go. Met all the cats stationed around the hotel. Rooms were not the clean at first but got better.
The entrance isn’t very clear, we were dropped off outside by the bus stop but were told where to go. Also want sure if needed to check in at the bar as that’s the first thing you see. Our room was spotless and there was an army of cleaners out in the early morning cleaning what seemed like every surface of the outside! Loved the cats.
It is an amazing experience. The cable car is very much part of it. The amazing thing though, I had far better mobile phone signal at the top than I do back home!
We have been in January and July. I believe they move some of the inside evening entertainment outside to the pool area late July or August. Especially the dance act which is fantastic.
