Hi I see Melanie, I came across your videos today and watched all the reviews of TOWL 1 -6. First of all you look like Zoe Saldana totally beautiful 🌹. I absolutely love Richonne too and I’m constantly watching anything everything of them on TY. Absolutely love all the reviews too and can even overlook the sloppy scenes of the destruction of the CRM compound unbelievable really but of course happy the main characters survived. Ricks performance in E4 was so good and real I broke down every time I’ve watched (I’m from London Uk) and we only got to see long after aired in US. So I’m happy with the way things ended and RJ looks like Rick 😍. Thanks again and good to see you I’ve subscribed and will watch your channel 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

@@darlenevendryes9050 aww thanks for watching, Darlene, and thanks for the sub! You know, no one has ever told me I look like Ms. Saldana before!! And I’m taking the compliment - thank you!!! Yeah TOWL was pretty much perfect with the exception of some parts of episodes 5 and 6. I’m so glad Richonne got the happy ending they deserved with their kids. I feel like that’s gonna be a wrap for them, but people are speculating because apparently the DVD/BluRay lists this as “season 1”. Whether we get more Richonne content, I’m satisfied with what we got!!

We should allow the movie to receive more views to be fair, before giving SPOILER ALERTS. This is horrible! 😢 There was a white man many years ago who instructed the white people ....... that if you can get the (BLACKS) to go against each other, we can keep them suppressed and (BENEATH US). His name was Willie Lynch. Look it up people and let us stop bad mouthing each other. I personally had (8) young black men last week asking for money in the streets & (2) of them wanted me to buy them a McDonalds Meal. They were dressed better than me, and had no care that I live on a low pension. I do not beg and I do not put down my own people. Let Tyler Perry do what he does best. This is his area of creating movies ..... I would hate to see a sister tell my entire movie, when I paid thousands of dollars to put it out there. "I personally enjoyed watching that movie."

I think while anyone who puts out art can/should be criticized, you have to do it accurately. The first point that you make about Tyler Perry hating Black women, I disagree with. He's stereotypically presenting women as victims, but is centering women in most of his stories. If anything, he hates me. In most cases, when a dominant group of people "hates" a marginalized group, they don't paint them as "victims". His view of women is certainly limited, shallow, and reductive, but isn't based in "hate" in my opinion anyway. He would benefit from other writers, but most would make the argument that his hatred is more toward men than women - at least as depicted in his films. He's making movies with the attempt of positively affirming Black women who have been hurt by Black men.
@iseemelanie
@iseemelanie 27 дней назад
I explained my critique of him pretty thoroughly (the video is over 30 mins long). If you think the word "hate" is too strong or inaccurate, maybe "disdain" of "strong contempt" might appease you. As I mentioned in the video, I think he has these deep-seated feelings of hate/disdain/strong contempt towards both black woman and men, in different ways. And we all have our different interpretations of things - I do not see anything in this film or Mea Culpa that positively affirms black women at the core. Yeah, the female characters in these movies had good jobs but that's where the positivity begins and ends.

Hi Mel - I think the lyrical reference "here comes the FEAR" may refer to Lestat's fear of Marius coming for him (when he instructs Lestat on 'The Laws' (in the book The Vampire Lestat) and how he must NEVER EVER mutter Marius' name or anything of what Marius has taught him, nor about 'The One's Who Must Be Kept' otherwise Marius may be forced to bring an ugly vengance upon Lestat as well as ALL who Lestat has divulged knowledge with. We know for fact that Lestat blows it at the end of S2 when he gushes to Armand that he has 'the blood of Akasha' then looks directly at Louis & says: "but he doesn't know who that is does he?". HUGE MISTAKE! Now Lestat has to ponder Marius' revenge (if there will be any) and begin fearing for his very existence. Sucks to have to sleep forever with one eye open, no? 😢

A re-occurring theme in the books and show is of the 'unreliable' narrator. The first book is from Louis', and by extension Armand's, point of view. And as we saw, what they remember and the way they remembered it, changed over and over during the course of Season 1 and 2. We didn't really see the 'real' Lestat until perhaps the hurricane scene at the end. Even that may not be completely Lestat. Lestat was not happy with how he was portrayed in the first book, and The Vampire Lestat and this new season will be more from Lestat's point of view. I'm wondering if Malloy and Lestat will tell his story as a documentary rather than as a book this time? Perhaps both? Whatever way they choose, I am in 100%! 😁

The song is about Louis. Lestat is choking Daniel because he was asked about the book. The person sitting in the chair before Lestat arrives is a placeholder for the lighting crew as they set up. In the book, "The Vampire Lestat," there is one mention of his concert. The series executive producers announce they will feature several concert scenes and Lestat will be playing different instruments. Louis will be in season 3 as will Daniel, Nicholas, Marius and Lestat's mother Gabrielle. So, the story will will go back to Lestat's pre-vampire life then throughout his vampire life.

The composer of iwtv replied to a fan on twitter explaining the meaning of Long Face, I will copy and paste what he said on twitter and then I’ll give some of my own interpretation of the lyrics. Daniel Hart responded to a fan with "Yes to all of this. I think lyrics should be subjective, and so we can each take from them what they would mean to us, based on our own life experience. Getting into specifics, I think our Lestat would enjoy writing lyrics w/ double or even triple entendre, so I tried to do that Boléro is a romantic Spanish dance. And the way he and Louis sometimes treat each other is more transactional and less loving i.e. "prostitué". But our Lestat is also a massive fan of Maurice Ravel, who wrote perhaps the most currently famous Boléro of all. So in saying "We're Boléro", he could be expressing a deep fondness for what they are together. Some who knew Ravel said he frequented brothels, & because he never married or had kids, rumors abounded that he was homosexual. So, "prostitué" then takes on more potential meanings.” Now my own interpretation: I get the impression that when Lestat sings “Now we’re havin’ fuuuuuunnnnnnnn” he is actually being sarcastic, deep down Lestat is not having fun. He’s at a low point in his life and Sam Reid said it in an interview that Lestat in s3 will be at the lowest point he’s ever been in past century or so and you can tell in the quick flashes in the trailer where he is quickly descending into madness. The track low-key feels like a warning and a diss track to the vampires coming after Louis, and a message to Louis after listening to the full song. “Why the long face, my pretty baby” Lestat is definitely referencing Louis and asking him why he’s upset, but if you think of it in the context of the vampires out there coming after Louis because they’re mad about the book, they are also the “long face". "I get fatter When we break up Why does it Matter Who I take up” I got the impression here that maybe Louis gets jealous of Lestat doing it with other people. In the beginning of the teaser you hear the exec producer saying “I think he’s entertaining someone” and Daniel says “do we have insurance for homicide?” what he’s saying is lestat is out there doing it with many people and draining them. Lestat also looked like he was drugged out of his mind in the teaser so I wouldn’t be surprised if Lestat was pulling a 70s Louis. So yeah jealous Louis and 70s Louis (Lestat version). "I'm piano” Piano (soft/quiet) "And you're forte” forte (loud/strong) "You're allegro” allegro (lively/fast paced) "I'm Adante” andante (calm/measured) "We're boléro, prostitué” Boléro is Spanish romantic/sensual music and prostitué (we all know what this means). These lyrics are a bit confusing because Lestat is far from quiet and calm but he could be referencing the nuance of their relationship and how Lestat could be soft/loving with Louis sometimes and Louis can be loud and does not hold back with his words. He also describes their relationship as sensual and then mentions it being exploited. My best guess is that with the release of Daniel’s book Louis and Lestat’s relationship is out for the world to read and exploit because they are the talk of the world at the moment (this was my interpretation of it before Daniel Hart responded to that fan). "Another Taste Another year Another place Another tear Another chase Another sneer Without a trace You disappear” and "Gimme some face A souvenir” I think he might be implying here that Louis is hitting it and quitting it. the gimme some face part reminds me of Louis saying in s1 “I gave him some face and drove him home!”. So yeah, to me Lestat is making this song to make the vampire world come for him instead of Louis but he’s also responding to Louis and I think this has nothing to do with the 7 decades that they were separated from each other. It sounds like they have been having a Friends with benefit type of situationship and then Louis disappears because he’s still discovering who he is and just got out of a long term relationship with Armand so he might not want something serious.

Season 1 was the best. I feel like it’s a hit show and now all these other actors want to be apart of it; so their characters are taking that air time our favs would have. It happens to many successful shows. The people that made the show a hit lose airtime and the next hint you know the magic is gone. Carmy, Sid, and Richie are the main characters. All of the beef characters are the ones we returned to see. I liked the Marcus and Tina episodes. We don’t need a B story with Claire. I don’t care about the love interest. In the USA you can bury people on your private property. Many people have family graves in their backyards. It only works once you’ve obtained a legal documentation of death. (i.e Tell the government that they died so it doesn’t look like you murdered someone and are trying to hid it.) Then, the body has to be properly prepared depending on what you want (embalm it, refrigerate it, or cremate it). After that you can do whatever. If you think TP is a good screen-writer, I'd encourage you to watch any critically-acclaimed movie and see the contrast. You might think Tyler puts out good quality content - I do not. I am not one of those people who needs every movie to be cerebral and deep. I just think aiming for something above mediocre is the least someone could ask for. The bar is attainable. I don't think you can honestly say TP puts the effort into his works. There is a reason why most movies have one person doing the producing, another doing the writing and another doing the directing. That's because each one of those roles requires thoughtfulness, talent and great execution. And let's not act like Tyler's hurting for anything - he is a very very rich and powerful man. That's undeniable and I love that for him. I just wish he'd take all of those gifts and put out quality. And apparently he doesn't want my support because I'm what he considers a "highbrow negro" just because I understand storytelling! Conversely, he's calling his core audience lowbrow negroes. So take that how you will. Like I've told others, if you like his stuff, I love that for you. I think his movies are low-quality.

I mean it wasn’t trash most women are like this but sometimes still stay with the man and men take the cake if they haven’t healed from childhood trauma so it highlights things that black women need to be stronger on and black men to heal and for them to be ready to heal and black women to know they can’t heal no man they have to heal for themselves first if not leave they asses behind and most still lost in the sauce so it’s a good way to point out that black people need to do better as parents, people and most of all us as individuals. I thought it was okay could of made Cory a bit more aggressive in his senses he just walked away so easily and most people that are like this they still go into the party or have to be escorted out the job. Or at least taken the pictures himself but hey I’m some black households they don’t want to see they own grow, heal and evolve, so they enable their unhealthy toxic behavior. Then I think in the beginning the pastor should have talk to the family after the service not judge her boys and the way she raised them in front of everyone like that cos most would have done the same except take the child out the casket but I get it they would say they paid for it.

I wonder if Lestat's lawyer is his mother, wouldn't that be a nice little treat

I don’t know/want to know the book spoilers, but I have heard a couple things about Lestat’s mom. I’m both intrigued and mortified by what she will bring to the show!

Sounds like you're describing diary of a black woman. With just a few adjustments.
