@@cindywygant5555 yay! It really works great. We are on a family vacation and my 4 yr old granddaughter got some chaffing from the sand and a wet bathing suit and we are using the plantain to soothe and heal.
Thanx for recipe, I will experiment with garlic and thyme added to your lovely recipe to see if more properties can be added like anti bacterial, anti biotic etc.....💞🥰💕💖‼️
So there is currently a skunk under my car right next to the tire I noticed as I’m about to leave my house. it’s 92 degrees I think she’s trying to cool down under my car but she’s holding me up 😂
I have a good friend Michael and he have had 4 heart attacks and I told him not to eat lasagna and especially made with extra beef and all that cheese and ect.. so I told him to lay off the stuff and just please start eating healthy and I told him I'm from Louisiana and we believe in the cayenne pepper. And I told him about the tincture that stopped an heart attack in 30 seconds and also it was another per in the early 2003 it helped a person with cancer cells was gone and I admire your techniques and I'm getting weekend and prepare Incase if anybody have any heart attacks I pray that all stay heart healthy I really appreciate your channel and GOD BLESS YOU ALL
I will pray for Michael. May the Lord speak to him in a dream that causes him to take his health seriously. In the meantime, you being prepared is a beautiful thing. I believe the Lord does cause some of us to prepare for those who don’t know yet. Thank you for watching the video and commenting! God bless you!
please Excuse my ignorance but why do you leave the seed heads on the plants when they could spread seed every where. Good Day from an Australian Brother in Christ.
Well I have no good answer for you, brother! We were late in removing them. The good thing is that we garden in deep mulch and get very few weeds when we stay on top of it. Thank you for watching and commenting! Blessings!
@@HeartandHomesteadwithDawn I’ve got my plantain picked for this batch and just waiting to get beeswax tomorrow! Thank you for the reminder, sometimes with life… we forget that nature gives us just what we need when we need it! My psoriasis and eczema will definitely appreciate it! Much 💛from Alaska-
@@BarefootInAK wonderful! Do you dehydrate yours? We picked a bunch last week, dehydrated it and vacuum sealed itv in a ball jar for future use. Very valuable!
Thanks for the video. I have lots of plantain growing in my back yard. I did start digging them up and planting them into pots. I have lots more to go yet, though, haha.
Good evening. I greatly enjoyed the video. I was wondering if you had made one on how to tincture dried cayenne peppers? I just bought some dried peppers to use but wanted to make sure I did it right. Would you still use the 1:5 method as when using dried herbs? Or just fill the jar and then fill with vodka?
Hello! Thank you for watching and commenting, we have not made one using dried cayenne but you can use dried! Textbook is 1 part dried cayenne to 5 parts 100 proof Vodka, Folk method is 50/50 with dried cayenne and Vodka. With fresh Cayenne, fill the jar all the way except an inch or two of top, then fill jar to top with 100 proof vodka.( reason is that fresh cayenne contains allot of water and more is needed therefore)
@@HeartandHomesteadwithDawn Unfortunately I don't know. It's name here is Giant Turkish Plantain, and is a variety of Plantago Major, both names of which I am quite sure are NOT in Google translate's database. Google translate completely massacres translations with many languages. It's so bad it could get someone in real trouble rather than just causing a snicker or a belly laugh. Swahili is one language that the translations, both to and from English, are completely useless, unless it is a Christian Bible verse that is being translated.
Hello! Yes, can you believe it? And it’s a weed that grows so easily. To me it tastes like mild spinach. I’ve had it raw in salads & smoothies, steamed and sautéed. All delicious!
@@BelindaTN let me know your thoughts. It’s truly very mild. You might find that you enjoy it cooked as well. I have a friend that can’t eat spinach but can eat lambs quarters. We had it growing wild on our farm in NYS and she would come and fill bag fulls being so delighted that she could eat it.
Yes! I heard them called many things. We’re enjoying them in every form. I’m Going to dehydrate a bunch to turn into powder for winter smoothies. Yummy!
@@calvinallen4719 ok sir, I found them! Its called Fellowship Farm and my husband found them on FB. I will say we were disappointed at first because the size of the bulbs we received were small but they encouraged us to plant them and the rest is history! We don’t have any to send you, I’m sorry. We kept enough to replant, which we did in the fall. I wish you the best!
Thank you for watching and commenting, Darlene! Yeah, that one is a “socially acceptable sin.” However, listening to gossip is participating in it and we are just as guilty. ☹️
With God's help i plan tp grow microgreens & sprouts this year plus try growing herbs like fennel, dill, basil & chives etc. I am in NE Texas & last year it was so hot for so long that it was really hard gardening. I am also planning to grow sunflowers, nastursiums, mint & borage for eating in salads.
That sounds like a fabulous plan! Do you plant in garden boxes or in the ground? Have you tried using drip tape? We have the garden boxes right outside the kitchen door on a deck but we also have a garden in the back yard as well and we are planting borage too!
Some things i plant in the ground. i have 3 separate garden areas. One on the north side of the house. One on the south side of the house. And also a shade garden. I haven't done drip tape yet. I think about it but i haven't gotten it done. I guess i have enjoyed 'playing' in the hose water in the hot seasons where i live. lol My north garden is in ground. My south garden is big tubs from protein licks for livestock. My shade garden is smaller planters & totes. Living in the country surrounded by hay fields & my property surrounded by trees I get lots of moles, voles, squirrels, opposums, raccoons, rats & mice who try to visit my garden areas & escape the scheduled haying activities. So i have had to learn how to 'defend' my food lol.
@@Kat-Knows ah! Fun times! It sounds quite dreamy♥️ it’s such a good wholesome lifestyle. Learning how to co-habitat with critters is a dance for sure. I’m not sure if there’s ever a winner 😂
OK. I am now completely convinced that I need a dehydrator. Do you have a video about the kind that you have? thank you so much for sharing all that you do. You are so inspiring. I am in northern TN and live in pretty much in the same environment that you do. I like to watch gardening from those that garden and harvest and deal with our kind of environment. Loving you and your husband.
Thank you again for watching and commenting. I don’t think I did a video about the dehydrator specifically. It’s an Excalibur 9 tray dehydrator and I absolutely love it! I’ve had others and they pale in comparison. It’s costly but worth the investment to preserve your harvest. My email address is dawnmmriordan@gmail.com if you have any questions.
@@jazzcatt it is. Someone gifted it to us. If you are wanting to dehydrate plantain leaves, you can put them on cookie sheets in the oven and turn the oven light on! That will heat them to about 90-95° which is perfect!
Loved this, and I too love a fresh salad. Do you make your own salad dressing? And what is the little black tubing I see in the box.? Is that for watering the lettuce straight into the dirt, instead of watering from above?
Thank you for watching and commenting. Yes! The black tubing is a mini drip tape system we set up for watering. So easy! It has small holes that “drip” water around the plants. You just attach it to a hose, turn the water in and walk away. A win-win!
So what kinds of nutritional benefit would there be to just eating the pepper instead of tincturing? And, what benefits are there from using store bought organic/non-organic cayenne pepper? I put what some would call an abnormal amount on a lot of my food
Those are great questions. Eating the peppers and using cayenne pepper powder is also very healthy and would have the same nutrients as the tincture but the tincture is concentrated. You would need to eat a lot of peppers to attain the same amount of nutrients as you would a dropperful of tincture. On the other hand, eating the raw pepper may have other benefits that are lost in tincturing. In my opinion, anyway you can consume this heart healthy herb is fabulous!
