I love them both and they both perform extremely well , but if money was not an option i would go with ZCO just because i feel it cuts through the mirage and the clarity is a little bit better .
Ive got two Gen 1 EC Tuner Brakes in 6.5 & 30 cal. Plus one in 375 caliber & one in 338 cal.Both in 7/8x24 Thread.These two are in Benchrest style and as far as Tuners go they work..As For a Muzzle Brake they are Useless. No difference in felt recoil than if I had no Brake at all. Good breakdown of Gen 2. I just bought one and it should be here by Christmas hopefully
It would be nice to have some notches cut around the circumference of the tuner section and have a small flat spring that clicks into the notch to prevent accidental rotation.
i just installed these. but there is a small piece left over. it looks like it might fit on the cheek piece, the gap at the front. but there is no way to put it on tho. have you figured it out yet?
I'm ordering it. I bought an M1A Loaded a few years ago, put it into an Archangel stock, put a Schuster gas port on it, an SEI muzzle adapter with a Surefire 7.62 brake on it and she's a 2 MOA shooter. I started reloading for it and I that's with 2 MOA. Lots of people like to argue it's a battle rifle, it doesnt need to shoot 1/4" groups but I completely disagree. Who doesn't want a tack driver, especially in a semiautomatic?! So I think I might be the only person to put one of these on an M1A. I'm just too curious if it actually works on an M1A.
The tuner brake is tuning the harmonics of the barrel , so it will work on any rifle barrel. To get the max benefit of any tuner everything else on the rifle has to be checked or verified for accuracy. For example if my barrel is not free floated or it’s touching somewhere on the forend i may not see the effects of a tuner as good as if the barrel was corrected and ensured it was free floated .
I'm also 5'-5", I trimmed the two steel LOP posts in the but slightly and took the weight out. Running a 26" mtu profile 6mm with all the brass weights out front. Balances about 3" forward of the mag guard with a kahles dlr up top with seekins rings. Just thought I'd share sweet rifle.
What are the weight differences between the original and V2? I'm hoping the v2 is a little lighter weight. I have the 30cal version and looking for another but hoping it is lighter weight.

I have V1. Just received V2. Did you notice the orientation of numbering is in reverse from each other. ? V1 when rotated clockwise zeros out flush from tuner compared to where bullet exits. V2 when flush still has room to rotate clockwise. I’m assuming flush is zero ? So when tuning a load with V2 do you rotate clock wise or counter clockwise ?
Yes i did notice , i believe that is because the V2 actually gives you more adjustments both ways which the V1 you only go one way to start . What i am noticing as i play around with the V2 is the colder the weather you turn the tuner toward the shooter to get back in tune and vise versa the hotter temps you turn away from shooter . Every time the temp drops more than 10 degress from my initial tune temp which was around 70 ish i will go out n confirm and adjust and record the tuner setting with the temp .
I have the V1 and with the V2 I put it on my Tikka Ctr 6.5 Creedmoor, started at 0 and turned it in toward the action. O setting 2 shots 1/2 apart went to 1 setting same for 2 shots. Number 2 setting I shot 2 shots literally in the same hole. Figured I'd try a third it went in the same hole. .076. Decided to shoot 2 more for a 5 shot group and opened up to .33. Anybody says tuners don't work. I beg to differ. Awesome product. This was a load that already shot good out of the rifle. 140 Eld m 41.6 gr H4350 lapua brass Cci 450 primers.
When the brake redirects the gases directly backward via the ports ,the effect is similar to the reverse thrust system on an aircraft jet engine: any blast energy coming back at the shooter is pushing "against" the recoil, effectively reducing the actual amount of recoil on the shooter but the shooter feels the gas blowback , having the ports back at the shooter is the most effective way to have less felt recoil. The EC tuner has changed the first 2 ports to help keep some of that blow back from effecting the shooting. Hope this helps , if not i can simplify it more .

Keep in mind when you tune with the V1 because it has tension screws , it will have a little backlash between the threads. So lets say as you test the tuner and number 5 prints the smallest groups and you are done testing , turn the tuner back go past 5 a number or two then slowly turn it back to 5 . By doing this you will take the backlash out of the threads and place the tuner exactly where it was when you was doing the testing. Hope this makes sense .
I have actually been thinking of buying one of these for my Sako .338 Win Mag. I struggle to find ammo that will shoot 1" in this rifle. .338 Win Mag isn't a gun I want to do a sh!t load of load development with. How much recoil reduction and noise do you get with the EC Tunner?
Very nice review 👌 I got more information from your video than on Eric's ad. It would be interesting to know if it actually reduces recoil better than the V1. Do you feel like the tension spring is enough to hold in place if you have the tuner a couple of turns out. Thx Gary
You mentioned it came with the "slotted rail" - is that the ArcaLock rail. They told me that it only comes with a smooth rail, not the slotted rail. Thanks in advance.
@@mindfulrifleman7198 a strawberry hard candy and a decal. The sweet was probably to take the bitter taste left by the price tag on the tuner brake. 😂. It does work though.. I can’t complain. Really nice machining, the finish was really nice and it does perform as advertised. Happy shooting!
