Gold Shaw Farm is a farm in Peacham, VT. More accurately, it’s not really a farm yet. Founded by Morgan Gold and Allison Ebrahimi Gold in 2016, Gold Shaw Farm is more of a farm-in-progress than an honest-to-goodness farm. Our dream is that someday we are able to make our 158 acre parcel of land a regenerative and productive homestead/farm. To get there, it’s going to take a lot of work on our part. Our RU-vid channel chronicles the journey of getting there for our friends, family and community.
How do you keep your geese from going after your ducks? I have one female duck they get attacked by my geese and I don't know how to stop it. If you can help me out that would be great I love watching your videos
Homestead flies I tried the fly paper, lots of trash and costly. Now using the Why fly traps, work great, but can be costly. Decided to cut a 57mm/2-1/4" hole in the lid of empty jars. Cleaned the hole to remove saw bit debris and tight fit the trap top. Use hot glue to the bottom of the jar lid and insert the trap top from the bottom to hold weight. I found bulk packs of the fly attractant (wasp, fly, whatever...it works) to use to reload them when full. Rotten meat or pet offal work very well. Just collected the contents of the full jars (does not take long) when reloading them and dumped the refuse in the burn. Been doing it 3 years now.
Those cows are big and that over hang is quite small. How do all those cows fit in that shade? Love the idea and we know they love to run up against it but from the naked eye it looks a little light on the shade capability
Ok, the machine has gone beyond what we think it can do. I hasn’t seen your channel pop up in some time and just thought about it today. Read that again - Just (as in only) thought (in my head) today. Now all of a sudden, up pops a video. Maybe it was providential and not ultra-creepy algorithms. Either way, welcome back to my feed!
Morning for Australian, Morgan I would like you to have a look at pemberton farm videos about the calf birth and watch what he does to help the mum, it may help you out
Morgan, you are still turning your back on the beasts. I have been around cattle all my life, my granddad has a herd of over 200. All the people I know in the industry will say the same, the only people who get hit and seriously injured are those who get complacent and turn their back on a cow or bull. They may look like big lumbering animals, but they can move quickly when they want to. Please stop doing it.
Perhaps a sparky collar along with a video feed with you hidden away - using the collar - which you have demonstrated very clearly isn't a torture device at all - you could train her without you being right there in the paddock - but close enough to use both collar and to be able to physically intervene? I wouldn't even know where to begin setting up such a system - so I throw this merrily into the hat of ideas with no helpful advise on how to achieve any of it - much like most of your commenters I imagine - we mean well 😊
I always enjoy your episodes . I wish I knew you and your wife personally, as friends. Y'all are very interesting, love what you are doing. Hope all your dreams are coming true. Best wishes.
The cow mobile looks good! It could possibly use a little thicker shade cloth for more protection from the sun. 🤔 That was a great "dad" joke! Butt quacks! It had me laughing! 🤣
Seeing your two awesome white Dogs just makes this old man day❣......Lol cover there butt quacks....The Boat trailer is a great idea and it also has a wider wheel base.....Thanks Morgan 👍 Nasty old Shoe🇺🇸
For some reason your channel dropped out of my algorithm for a while, but you're back now and seeing this video made me so happy! I have some to catch up on too!
After watching waaaaay to much of the Hoof GP, there are two things I have learned. 1. Maintaining and regular checks of your cattle's feet is super important to their well being. 2. Americans have a lot to learn about the simple things that make cattle super happy, like brushes. Most of the other things you don't need to worry about cause your cows don't live at a dairy.) Cows really seem to love brushes and it is such a simple thing to give them. Glad to see you giving them brushes once more on their happy cow mobile, hope there are plans to made one for all your cattle or at least a mineral/ brush cart.
Your farm now definitely has its own culture and routine and it's so fun to share it with you through your videos. I will admit I'm a bit partial to Abby and I love it when you declare that she's here to stay! As you point out, perfect LGD or not, she is a great companion to you, and even more importantly to Toby. I do believe that he feels like his dog life is going well when he is part of a pack and Abby provides that. Give both of them an extra pat and "Good dog!" from me.
