A fun little place where I do TTRPG unboxings, occasionally get family members involved, the odd RPG review or opinion on things, and generally just a place to make videos for s#!ts and giggles.

The Mephiston Red with the smooth finish on the box is just premium stuff and the people who backed it for 50 quid got one heck of a deal. 665ish copies of this thing were given out to backers so this makes it almost as rare as some of the special editions that subterranean press does so the eBay pricing of 450 euros seems fair. Man, I just cannot get over just how clean the box looks. I like the hand drawn map and I love the immersive inner box container maps. I was not sold on the tiny hand outs, they seem like they were rushed out. I really disliked the two out of place character photo's because they just rip you right out of all that immersion that the box just sold you on. All in all I give the box a 6.9 out of 10 which is pretty high given my personal tastes and standards are equal to an Inquisitor judging a heretic. Great unboxing and congratulations on owning a Grail.
To, @some point u'll accrue enuf XP to level up to _professional_ & won't be able to hide behind your all-encompassing excuse anymore. 😜 Aaannd there are really ppl who throw away bubble wrap?! 😧 "Oh, the humanity!" P.S. Pls don't use my Lord's Name as a cuss word, brother Dork, ty. 🙏
Good review. I'm looking into running this myself. As a bit of feedback, I suppose I would have preferred no sirens during the spoiler warning, they were grating. Other than that, pretty good!
Great review, thanks for putting it together! Out of curiosity, how many sessions did your group play this adventure? I know it’ll vary a lot between groups but wanted to get a ballpark idea.
It was approximately 12 sessions and they didn’t even explore the western mountains. It entirely depends on how quickly they want to get into the temple once the dome begins to lower. They did quite a few of the optional quests the first week of in game time and that may have padded it out a bit.
I thought that to....but oh man, Knock Magazine and their other Modules proved me wrong. I bit the bullet paid the piper and have NO regrets. Solid top to bottom. Like world class material, hard to find these days in this quality.
This is the second vid i see on this version of CoC and I wanted to see if I really didn't like the mechanics. And I don't, way to many move parts. CoC is way easier and seems to pace much better. I do love the props and the extra dice and especially the maps and that's the only reason I want this box. For transparency I do have the board games and I do use the item cards for my CoC games. Ifor mechanics give this game 4/10, too many things to do to get your actions going, if you are used to the board games you might not mind this, but all these things you have to do to dd something just slows this game too much for me. Artwork 9/10, love it!! Props and Maps 10/10, can never have to much!!!, and of course nothing wrong with having more dice 8/10. Overall if you are a CoC Loremaster then yeah get this box for the goodies, if you are a new player/GM then have at it, good way to get your foot in the door for some juicy Cosmic Horror!!! Thanks for the vid, was awesome to watch!!
Golden Heroes was a great game and it's a shame you can't legally obtain a copy except at crazy prices. Lots of clever ideas in it, like action frames and DUPs.
Looks like fun. I really need to get Cyberpunk 2077 or 2020 or whatever to the table. It's been 20+ years since the last time I ran anything Cyberpunk.
A bit of both to be honest. I think it may be a good transition for board gamers with no RP experience to roll into RPGs. I need to sit down with game and get feel for it as it is a bit of a departure from your standard TTRPG.
I enjoyed this commentary :) My fond memory of getting this book from the book store was met with mixed feelings. Like you mentioned, some of the coloring just felt "off", but that might have been subject to my other memories of the earlier darker themed books like like from the 1'st editions. However, what I did enjoy was the addition of color pictures that were really cool. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and memories :) Good times!
I'm curious what Arkham Horror does that Call of Cthulhu doesn't do. The only difference I'm seeing right off, based on this video, is the task resolution system.
Thank you very much to the brief chat at the Call of Cthulhu hall and letting me take a picture of you in the awesome looking suit. Greatly appreciated, keep up the fantastic work. Thank you also for the dice 🎲 and I hope you have a great convention, you made my day.
Sounds like y'all are having fun. Ya Shills! I don't think my social battery has enough capacity for GenCon. I'm going to try to test it out at PAX-U later this year if all goes well, but I suspect GenCon is a bridge too far. It also helps that PAX-U is only a two hour train ride away.
