I’m about 55% through this game and while I really enjoy the exploration side of things, I can’t stand the combat at all. It’s annoying and repetitive, and the enemies are more frustrating than traditionally challenging
I hope this is the beginning of Konami SHMUP revival. I dream of the comeback of the Parodius franchise. QOTD; I don't have a preference - love them both!
I was more excited about sonic the hedgehog then super mario world because sonic has more games Sonic 1 Sonic 2 Sonic 3 Sonic 3&knuckles Which super nintendo has super mario world only So sonic has more games then mario
Though does look interesting, I'm more of a fan of Old School when it comes to Shooters. With that said, not sure how to answer as I enjoy Space Invaders and Galaxian as much as Defenders and Space Jockey. So guess as far as that goes, don't really have a preference. 😉
During the first level I thought the game was some sort of roguelike that would keep going until I died lol Also, never hear my gpu fans run louder than while playing this game.
As a Shmup fan Cygni is a step backwards mechanics wise. It used to be about dodging and in Cygni you just tank everything and pick up shields because you can't dodge properly with the unprecise controls. It's feels very artificial as a whole. It does look good though.
@wolvertox311 Agreed. While I enjoyed the game enough to give it a B-, I do wish that it would have tried to evolve the genre. Next-generation shouldn't just be about fancy graphics, but actually adding new elements to the gameplay and experience.
This a 3rd party published game (Keelworks), not an internal studio with shmup veterans. Konami has been publishing indie games with middling-to-decent quality, and this seems no different.
How can this list be serious when the best is absent? Bomberman 94 is the GOAT. It has the best level design both in story mode and battle mode, it has the best soundtrack, it has the best multiplayer game, it has the best cartridge and it plays smoothest of all.
As somebody who spends a lot of time reading classic magazines and highlighting their reviews, I feel like this is pretty true for all magazines. That's the thing about time, people tend to remember things more fondly than they were thought of at the time. We could do the same thing with GamePro, Game Informer, Computer & Video Games and countless other publications and find a pretty similar result.
@@DefunctGames well, I personally had many times changed my opinion about games I had nostalgia for into realizing they were actually bad and vice versa. And, yeah, you're probably right that it can be said about any magazine, because their stuff is always rotating, so to be more accurate you would need to actually track who reviewed what and judge that, but that's just being crazy lol After all, reviews just can't be fully objective and there's plenty of subjectivity. It's not like I'm angry at EGM, or that you put this video together :) Just kind of dumbfounded by their ratings lol
If you're looking for objectivity in reviews, then you're digging in the wrong pit. Reviews are just a person's opinion. A snapshot in time. That's what makes them fun to look at all these years later.
I do not like that Disney rebranded the Xmen the animated series to "97". It sucks seeing a cool Xmen shirt only to have that "97" standout to make sure we know it's Disney's Xmen. Disney ruined Marvel Vs Capcom Infinite, especially how they did the Xmen dirty. Winter Soldier is not Cable and Capital Marvel will never replace Storm as the leading woman of the entire Capcom fighters series.
Gosh seeing so many Timesplitters videos popping up makes my heart sing! This game deserves so much and I hope we are heading in the direction of a remaster or even a 4th instalment 💯
Was not expecting the game boy game to receive as much love as it got- but sometimes a smaller scale game who doesn't have much scrutiny and is for a format that one talented developer can do something fun without breaking the bank, can really surprise you... but man, those commercials. When 90's kids don't have a combat-centric product to sell by amping themselves up to let good guys and bad guys fight, but have to rely more on comedic chops... the end-result feels REAL awkward.
If you fancy PSO2 then ask. We will play a game - Only way to fransfer items/equipment. Registration Required tho.. I use the top server in list. Don't worry.. NOT set for PVP and never will be. If you want a start with PSO 2, now is a safe start. Just a dummy run gives me lvl 5 items for noobs. Trust me.. Is that OK?
Sorry for the confusion Defunct!!! Simple to explain!! You panned the game because it was too hard for you. I appreciated the video but let others decide if it's too hard for them.. As mentioned in a previous post.. play MARIO games for kids because you can't handle the adult games that are hard to play!!! END TRANSMISSION!!!
It IS a game that requires time and experimentation. Opening the doors/portcullis helps loads and it also opens the game up properly. i just hope that my advice below doesn't fall on deaf ears. Nothing personal - I just think you didn't give the game a chance. That is all. Can recommend Timespinner. NOT as hard as Unepic.. Great game - don't miss.
A review is one person's opinion. I'm not telling you to substitute your opinion with mine, but rather giving my take on the game (which I fully explained in the review). It sounds like what you're looking for is a cheerleader, not a game critic. I'm sure you can find plenty of game cheerleaders online who will reinforce your opinion and not make you hear a dissenting voice, but I very clearly marked this as a "review." It's clear that you don't actually care about the points I made in the review (which you seem to want to reduce to "it was too hard for you"), so why should I bother caring about anything you have to say? You're just looking for somebody who agrees with you, not a review. I recommend you avoid reviews in the future, as you might accidentally hear somebody else's opinion and be traumatized.
You're old enough to understand how a review works. When you tell me that you gave the video you watched (that didn't cost you a single penny) a thumbs down because you disagreed with my take, then it makes me wonder why I would care what you have to say. At 59, you should be able to accept that other people have different takes than you. If you have a problem hearing differing opinions, then reviews are not your thing. You probably should have learned that lesson a long time ago, but better late than never, I suppose.

Play the games, post your videos and put your comments as normal. All I ask is that you don't dismiss a game because you found it too hard. Try the game again with my tips above. You may enjoy it.. there's more than meets the eye, so rich a story with even more than conan the barbarian potential. sonic the comic even started something out of the foundation, there was even a sexy sorceress in the comic, that was supposedly tied to the golden axe ii storyline but the sexy sorceress is nowhere to be seen, but the others like the headless knight and the snake humanoids

If you're reading this then is a good chance you got screwed by autosave!!! Below are tips to make this game enjoyable and playable. Currently playing PC version and Xbox One X version. These tips apply to both versions. You can also use the Halo if autosave screwed you up. You can get back or near to area with the portcullis room anyway as long as you activated/used them. OK? 1 - Turn OFF autosave!!!! Halo and other save points do become available later on. 2 - Shortcuts on L1, R1 and L1+R1 are there to help you. I use L1 for weapon selection, L2 for potions and other stuff and I use L1+R1 for Teleportation. I recommend setting Halo to L1+R1 Y button or top button on pad. 3 - Equip new stuff when found. I've collected 5+ rings and 5 can be used at same time. 5 fingers or rather 4 fingers and a thumb. ;) 4 - Hit ANY wall without a torch!!! Hidden objects scattered everywhere. If you've got to this point in reading then I recommend you start a new game. It won't take long to get where you are. Unsure but I think there is a hidden wall in the tutorial so don't skip it. 5 - Only split inventory horizontally. PC version allows horizontal and vertical splitting. Sections are too small if split both ways for the many goodies waiting to be found. Auto sort inventory to seperate items. Normally you will get weapons, armour, potions, spells, etc in top pane. Bottom pane will have your ingredients and other collectables. I hope the above helps people enjoy this under-rated game. Currently battling the garden on Xbox. Portal to somewhere else NEEDS to be used for game to carry on. It opens the Gardens. Enjoy now with a little help and hindsight.
OH.. I am the David Cope below too. Different account. Laptops have both packed up. Bought a desktop instead as I never took laptop anywhere.. Too many external HDDs via USB Sata adapters. I have 3 accounts on RU-vid.. For original PSO 2 Videos before New Genesis then search for zengobag. That's me as well. Beta tester on PSO 2 translation project. The videos there are NOT available now and have been stripped from the game. Look at the profile picture.. New Genesis is NOT the game name - it's the GFX engine they wrote and used in New Genesis. The game took the tag of New Genesis and it held. We was asked to keep it quiet so we did until release. Check the release dates of PSO2 into American and European markets. The videos predate them by about 4-5 years at least. I was there at the start of one of the best FREE online games ever released. Doesn't cost a penny but hefty download - upto 100Mb. Updated often as well.
If Beetle juice did have a newer game, It might be base on the film, and should give haunting simulator a try again. play as a "ghost" a or the "monster" sims. like Haunting Starring Polterguy on Genesis or Ghost Master on PC/PS2 or a mix of both.
There is a lot of potential in a "haunting" style game. The problem is that a lot of those games think too small, only having you haunt a mansion or house. There are a whole bunch of cool buildings and locations that could be haunted, all of which could have their own types of scary events. I'm talking shopping malls, schools, amusement parks, office buildings and so much more. I want to see ghost haunting Disneyland!
@@DefunctGames well Ghost Master game got alot of locations, a ship, to evil dead like forest and cabin, and a military base, a hospital, and common locations.
